Candy Crush Saga reaches 500 million downloads one year after launch

To say that Candy Crush Saga, a game that challenges players to match candies in a combination of three or more, is a hit would be an understatement. You can't scroll through Facebook or walk through the mall without seeing it.

And today, The Telegraph added some context to the success. Speaking with Tommy Palm of developer King, the news outlet is reporting that Candy Crush has surpassed the 500 million download mark, just one year after launching...

I dare you to beat my score at ins and outs

Thanks to Game Center, Facebook, and plenty of other social networking connected sites and services, we can play games against friends and family without having to be in the same room with them. We don’t even have to be on the same continent as them. Actually, we don’t even have to know them at all, in some circumstances.

ins and outs – a casual and competitive puzzle game is one of those games that focuses on competing against others in a friendly game of connect-the-dots. Instead of just inviting them to play the game, you get to entice them by putting the “dare” into it…

Sorcery! 2 review: the epic adventure continues

As an avid role-playing game fan, I am always up for a literary adventure. Whether it is a choose-your-own story or a tabletop group game base on the 20-sided die mechanics, I get a twinkle in my eye when someone says “RPG.”

Steve Jackson is a well-known author of gamebooks from the mid 1980s. His series Sorcery! was a big hit and the first adventure in the series was turned into a fantastic iOS game back in May. Today, the same company that developed Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! has launched a follow up game based on the second series in the original book. Sorcery! 2 follows the adventurer into “Khare: Cityport of Traps”...

Stargate SG-1: Unleashed Ep 2 also launched in the App Store this week. Now, we can play along with all of our favorite sci-fi and fantasy characters in one day. Too bad Star Trek didn’t launch an app today, that would have really brought it full circle…

Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies now available in the App Store

Pacific Skies, a great follow up to the original Ace Patrol game released in May 2013 (read Lory's review here), is now available in the Apple App Store as a universal $4.99 download. I enjoyed Ace Patrol a lot as it's an electronic implementation of one of my favorite board games. Besides, an avid iOS gamer really can't go wrong with a title signed by Firaxis and famous videogame designer Sid Meier.

Pacific Skies offers more of the amazing turn-based tactical maneuvering and strategy which has made Ace Patrol such a huge hit. Unlike the World War I-themed original, the successor is set it the World War II Pacific arenas and includes iconic missions such as Pearl Harbor, Midway and Guadalcanal...
