TiVo launches new Roamio DVR devices with out-of-home iOS streaming

Tuesday, set-top box maker TiVo announced a lineup of digital video recorder (DVR) devices with support for out-of-home streaming to Apple's iPhone and iPad. The Roamio-branded gear comes packed to the gills with a range of popular streaming options, including Netflix.

TiVo praises Roamio's brand new web-based app experience and the integrated DIAL protocol for easy control of apps and streaming content from mobile devices. The built-in TiVo Stream lets you connect to your Roamio over Wi-Fi and stream recordings and cable channels to a limited number of devices. The out-of-home streaming for the iPhone and iPad is "coming very soon," TiVo said...

Your favorite Instagram-connected app could be changing soon, or worse, it could be shutting down. The photo-sharing network just updated its brand guidelines, stating that it's going to start banning apps that use either the word ‘Insta’ or ‘Gram’ in their names.

In fact, according to a new report, it looks like Instagram has already begun sending emails out to developers of existing apps, requesting that they change these trademark-infringing components 'within a reasonable period’ or risk losing their apps' API access...

Wacom unveils new pressure-sensitive Intuos Creative Stylus for iPad

Wacom has just announced its latest entry into the increasingly-crowded space of iPad styli, the Intuos Creative Stylus. The accessory uses low-power Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to your tablet, and includes programmable shortcut buttons.

Additionally, Wacom says the Intuos Creative sports a best-in-class pressure sensitivity of 2048 pressure levels, creating a "realistic pen-on-paper feel" when drawing. The high-end stylus aims to deliver "professional grade" performance...

Foxconn starts selling own TVs in Taiwan

The New York Times in May said Apple's favorite contract manufacturer Foxconn was looking beyond the iPhone due to slowing sales of the Apple smartphone caused by the broader tech biz slump. As you know, Foxconn also builds consumer electronics for Sony, Amazon, Dell and many other Western brands.

Conventional wisdom says the manufacturer's been growing concerned about its reliance on Apple orders accounting for well over half of its total revenues. Today, The Wall Street Journal is out with a report saying Foxconn has teamed up with the convenience store chain 7-Eleven to push its own television sets in Taiwan.

Interestingly enough, it was reported last year that Apple had been working with Asian suppliers on several designs for its rumored TV sets that Foxconn was supposed to build...
