Conformity app is like having a math tutor in your pocket

It has been years since I had to access the part of my brain that learned algebra and geometry. I never did have to take trig (being a journalism major has its perks). If someone were to ask me today what the Pythagorean Theorem is, I might be able to remember that it has something to do with adding square roots.

Conformity is a calculator that specializes in formulas for general math, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. No more memorizing the Quadratic Equation or trying to remember how to find the volume of a cube.

Lithium: theme the battery indicator on iOS 8 sans WinterBoard

Lithium is a brand new jailbreak tweak that adds a themed battery indicator to iOS 8. A similar tweak with a similar name, Alkaline, already exists on the Cydia store, and Lithium pretty much replicates the feeling of that tweak.

While some users report that Alkaline works perfectly on their iOS 8 device, it's never worked without a visual glitch on my iPhone 6 Plus. For that reason, I'd be up for trying Lithium on an extended basis.

Interesting excerpts from ‘Becoming Steve Jobs,’ upcoming Apple-endorsed biography

Penned by the The Wall Street Journal and Fortune reporter Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli, Executive Editor with Fast Company, ‘Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader’ is slated for release on March 24 and already whole sections have been posted online. Endorsed by Apple execs, it's fairest portrayal of the famous inventor who co-founded and led Apple to become the world's top corporation.

Unlike Walter Isaacson's much maligned biography, Becoming Steve Jobs offers an insight into the side of Steve Jobs you didn't know: kind, patient and human.

Leaked excerpts offer Tim Cook's reflections on working for such a demanding boss, the secret projects they discussed doing and not doing, tidbits on Jobs' thought process and the events leading up to Jobs's passing on October 5, 2011, including the story of Cook offering to give Jobs his liver.

Facebook Messenger gains new peer-to-peer payments feature

Facebook announced on Tuesday that US-based Messenger users will be able to use the app to send money to their Friends. The process, similar to Square's 'Cash,' involves linking a debit card to the service, which you can use to send money just as easily as a photo or text.

Users who have received the update will notice that the Facebook Messenger app now includes a small “$” icon above the keyboard, next to photo and sticker icons. Tapping this opens a payments screen where users can enter in the amount they wish to send to the recipient.
