Microsoft’s new opinion-gathering app removes the friction around event planning

Microsoft has released a brand new iPhone and iPad application in the App Store. Called Tossup, it was designed to make event planning and opinion-gathering a cinch by basically collecting answers from your friends to any questions you pose to them.

You can present people with a quick Yes/No poll, ask them to find and pick a restaurant, to agree on when to meet, invite them to extend the opinion about any topic and more.

Amazon launches dedicated iOS app for its Cloud Drive service

Online retail giant Amazon on Monday launched a brand new application in the App Store to give iPhone and iPad owners a quick way to access their documents, spreadsheets, music, photos and videos stored in Cloud Drive, Amazon's storage locker in the cloud.

The new app, called Amazon Cloud Drive, is available at no charge in the App Store. For the uninitiated, Amazon's Cloud Drive service offers you a choice between unlimited storage for your photos in exchange for twelve bucks per year, or $60 per year for an Unlimited Everything plan.

A free 90-day trial of Cloud Drive is available here.

Skype for iPhone updated with location sharing

Skype for iPhone has picked up the ability to share a location with others in its latest update in the App Store.

The Microsoft-owned VoIP program was bumped to version 5.14 Monday to make it trivial to share your current geographical location, or your favorite place, with friends and family using the paperclip icon in the chat window. Moreover, this edition of Skype introduces unspecified improvements.

The new version of Skype arrived hot on the heels of a recent update which brought out handy web link previews in the chat window and replying with dictation on Apple Watch.

iPhone 6s is 0.2mm thicker than iPhone 6, leaked industrial design diagram indicates

Apple's next-generation iPhone 6s should measure 7.1mm deep, a 0.2 millimeter increase versus the current-generation iPhone 6, which measures 6.9mm deep. If true, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s will have the exact same thickness as the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, according to a purported schematic leaked Monday to Engadget Japan by a reliable source in the Chinese supply chain.

KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that an imperceptible increase in thickness was necessary to accommodate Apple's implementation of force sensing on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus's screen.

Pegatron goes on a hiring spree ahead of next-generation iPhone production

With a little more than two months before its assumed September release, contract manufacturer Pegatron is reportedly in the process of hiring as many as 40,000 workers as it makes preparations to kick off assembly work on Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s refresh, according to a DigiTimes report this weekend.

Protek, a Pegatron subsidiary in eastern China, reportedly began recruiting workers at the end of June and will continue to do so until October, one month after the expected launch of the new iPhones.

Protek is planning to hire 40,000 workers in total, said the Taiwanese trade publication.

First look at upcoming Minecraft: Story Mode

A brand new international reveal trailer posted during the July 4 weekend offers a tantalizing glimpse into Minecraft: Story Mode, an upcoming narrative-driven adventure game created by Minecraft developer Mojang in collaboration with Telltale Games, the makers of the Game of Thrones cinematic video game series.

Following its announcement back in December 2014, the official teaser trailer for Story Mode has now premiered at the Minecon show in London. The video depicts a game set in the world of Minecraft with its own original story that will be driven by player decision. The game will consist of five episodes, with the inaugural episode set for release in 2015.

The 20 best iPad jailbreak tweaks for iOS 8.4

It’s been a very long time since I made a post about jailbreak tweaks on the iPad, and as such, this post was long overdue. Although it’s nowhere near as popular as iPhone jailbreaking, iPad jailbreaks still have tons of perks. And while many of the same great jailbreak tweaks work well on the iPad, there are a few iPad exclusive or iPad-centric tweaks thrown into the mix to keep things spicy.

Want one of the best iPad experiences you can get? Then check out this video of the 20 best iPad jailbreak tweaks for iOS 8.4.

Twitter++ brings improved sharing, list access, and media handling to the stock Twitter app

As a former Tweetbot user, there are some things I miss about that app, that I don't get to have on the stock Twitter app. One of the most glaring omissions is the lack of quick list access directly from the main feed.

Twitter++ (free on BigBoss) is a new jailbreak tweak that adds easy list access, along with a whole slew of other desirable features. It lets you easily share links and images from tweets, share tweets outside of twitter, share direct messages, download videos, and much, much more.

If you're looking to supercharge the stock Twitter app experience on iOS, then look no further than Twitter++.

FavoriteTweaks: a Cydia tweak for saving your favorite releases

Have you ever stumbled upon a new Cydia release that you wished to remember, but then later forgot about it? Wouldn't it be cool if you could designate your favorite tweaks so that you could easily remember and find them later?

That's the basic premise behind FavoriteTweaks, a new jailbreak tweak release from developer iMokhles. It allows you to save Cydia releases and manage them from one central location.

SwipeForMore lets you manage Cydia items with just a swipe

If you find the stock method of managing Cydia packages to be a bit cumbersome, then you're not alone. Fortunately, saurik has opened up Cydia to third-party modifications, and for that we all are very thankful.

As expected, many new jailbreak tweaks specifically designed for Cydia are beginning to appear. One of the latest tweaks, entitled SwipeForMore, looks like one of the most compelling one thus far.

SwipeForMore allows you to swipe on a tweak in order to access install and uninstall options. It can save you time, because you don't have to navigate into a tweak's individual page in order to manage it.

We’re giving away 10 copies of OneHandWizard

As an owner of a larger iPhone, OneHandWizard ($3.99) is one of my favorite jailbreak tweaks on Cydia. It allows you to quickly switch to a one-handed mode that's far and away more practical than the built in Reachability feature on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Earlier this year, we reviewed OneHandWizard, and it was met with high praise. It may seem like a simple thing, but if you're on a larger device like the 6 and 6 Plus, and you haven't tried it, I think you're missing out.

But don't fret. Here's your chance to see what you've been missing. We're giving away 10 copies of OneHandWizard to our readers!
