An iPhone app could soon replace your driver license

The great state of Iowa is looking to introduce the first Driver License application, reports the WSJ today. Currently in development for iOS and Android, the app wouldn't replace plastic driver licenses but rather be a companion to the physical identification cards. The project, which was originally pegged for a 2015 release, has seen some setbacks due to security and privacy concerns. At this time, it is unknown when this state-endorsed app will be released.

You can still downgrade to iOS 8.1.1

I'm not sure why one would want to do that, but here is a friendly public service announcement to let you know that you can still downgrade to iOS 8.1.1 should you choose to. Following the release of iOS 8.1.2 yesterday, Apple still hasn't closed the signing window of iOS 8.1.1, which means that if for some reason you have issues with iOS 8.1.2, you can still downgrade to iOS 8.1.1 and enjoy a stable jailbreak with TaiG.

63% of iOS devices now run iOS 8

Apple noted today on its developer portal that 63% of iOS devices are now running iOS 8. The data, which was measured by the App Store on December 8, 2014, shows that the adoption rate has gained 3 percentage points since November 24, which was the last time Apple shared that data. Although the adoption rate of iOS 8 has been slower than previous major annual software releases, it seems that it's slowly but surely picking up steam.

My Verizon Mobile app lets you track your data usage from Notification Center

Verizon customers who use the official My Verizon Mobile app can now track their data usage directly from the Today tab of Notification Center. The app was updated yesterday with this new feature that should allow users to keep their data usage in check. The widget is updated automatically based on users' plan and usage, showing the total data allocation as well as currently used data.

Bose products could be back in Apple Stores next week

After removing all Bose products from both its online and physical retail stores mid-October, Apple could apparently put them back on the shelves next week. This information comes from reliable French site iGen, which cites trustworthy sources at Apple: "Bose products could make a come back in Apple Stores as soon as next week. A few stores have received Bose products to build inventory with directions to get ready for their return on shelves next week," wrote Nicolas Furno for iGen.

Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect game coming soon to iOS

As a big fan of the FX series Sons of Anarchy, I'm pretty excited to learn that Fox Digital Entertainment has partnered with game studio Orpheus Interactive to work on the development of an interactive game titled Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect. Previously teased by SOA creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter, the first episode of the game should make its way to iOS early 2015.

38 new and updated jailbreak tweaks worth a look at

These last seven days marked another solid week of worthy jailbreak tweaks releases and updates, and as you know, Cydia isn't necessarily a great place to discover what's new or what's been updated... which is why we've come up with this weekly wrapup of new and updated jailbreak tweaks.

Each tweak comes with a short description of what it actually does, as well as the price and a link to our post on iDB if we covered the tweak in question. Of course this is not a one hundred percent comprehensive list, so some tweaks might be missing, which is where you come in: if you see a tweak that was updated or released that is not on this list, simply add it up in the comments section.

Prettier Banners adds contacts photos to Messages notifications

I miss BiteSMS for so many reasons, and one of them is that the tweak adds the photo of your contacts in Messages notifications, assuming you do have a photo for that contact to begin with of course.

Prettier Banners is a new tweak that will certainly fill that void, at least until BiteSMS gets an update. Developed by Mohamed Marbouh, Prettier Banners will replace the Messages app icon with the photo of your contact when receiving a text message notification.
