18 new jailbreak tweaks recently released

The trend that started about 3 weeks ago is getting more obvious as we enter yet another week with a slower output of tweak releases. I'm not necessarily complaining. I'm merely highlighting a trend that we all hope won't be confirmed in the following weeks.

Today, we put 18 new jailbreak tweaks front and center, hoping there will be at least one that pique your interest.

Twindr is like Tinder for Twitter

If Twitter and Tinder could mate, they'd probably give birth to something close to Twindr, a new app that aims to clean up your Twitter feed by allowing you to quickly unfollow accounts. The concept is pretty simple. After authorizing the app to get access to your Twitter account, you will be presented with cards of accounts you follow. Swipe right to keep following. Swipe left to unfollow.

TL;DR wants to keep your emails short, and your inbox shorter

TL;DR Email is a new app that aims to keep your emails short and your inbox shorter at the same time. By default, the app will display only the first 30 words of incoming emails in a card-lie format, giving you enough of an overview to figure out what you want to do with the message. Swipe right to archive, swipe left to postpone it to later, or you can of course see the full message, reply to it, or even put it in a folder if needed.

While Apple is reaching new heights, Samsung is hitting new lows

Apple and Samsung might be sharing the crown for top smartphone maker, with both companies reportedly shipping 74.5 million units in the last quarter, there are still wide discrepancies between the financials of the two giants. While Apple is reaching new heights following the record-smashing financial results for the last quarter it reported on Tuesday, Samsung is reaching new lows as its mobile division is crumbling to turn a profit, a situation that is the result of two very different strategies.

Slow UI animations on Yosemite? Try this simple tip

I currently have two machines running Yosemite: one is a brand new Retina iMac, and the other is an older MacBook Air. Both these machines have been feeling incredibly slow in regards to general animations of the User Interface. One obvious way to test this is to bring up Exposé, which then turns both my Macs into stuttering slugs. While I can kind of understand why my old MacBook Air would behave like this, there is absolutely no excuse for my iMac to. Talking about this issue with someone at the Apple Store, I was offered an original workaround.

What kind of apps do you want to see on iDB?

We review tons of apps here on iDB, covering the vast majority of categories available in the App Store. But are these apps interesting to you? For instance, I don't care much about gaming, and I'm much more interested in learning about new productivity apps. You, on the other hand, might have no interest in productivity apps but would like to see more News-related apps covered on iDB.

To make sure we publish reviews you actually care about, we thought that asking you directly what you want to see on iDB would be the best way to go at it, which is why we have created this simple poll.

LongScreen is a great app for combining screenshots

I don't think anyone takes more screenshots than an Apple blogger. They're particularly convenient when doing an app review where you want to illustrate the post with proper screenshots showing the app in action. Oftentimes, we like to put screenshots side by side to give an even better overview of the app, which isn't always a straightforward task.

Up until now, my workflow consisted of AirDropping screenshots to my iMac, and using a combination of Keyboard Maestro shortcuts and Pixelmator stitching. Painful! But thanks to a new app called LongScreen, this workflow is now considerably streamlined.

uHealth wants to help you improve your focus and attention

We're an ADHD nation. Smartphones, apps, instant messages, and everything else is definitely not helping us keep focused on things for more than just a few minutes. However, one app in the App Store is trying to change that. Based on a pretty impressive eye-tracking technology, uHealth wants to help you improve your focus and attention through short brain training exercises.

23 new jailbreak tweaks to check out

Looking at the amount of new tweaks released this past week, it seems that there definitely is a slowdown happening. For reference, the last couple weeks had seen 30+ releases, some of them being massive tweaks too.

The last few days have indeed been more quiet, and the Jailbreak Tweaks section on iDB is a testimony of that. But let's not get discouraged. Maybe it was just one of those slow weeks, and things will pick up again in the next few days. In the meantime, have a look at these 23 tweaks and let us know which ones have peeked your interest.
