TwitkaFly Jailbreak Tweak Brings System-Wide Tweeting to iOS

With Twitter becoming the world's water cooler, everyone is scrambling to integrate the social network into their software and hardware, with Apple being no exception.

When iOS 5 ships to eager users later this year, it will have Twitter baked right into its core, with contact syncing as the only real feature to be yet demonstrated by Apple.

What we really want from iOS 5 Twitter integration is system-wide tweeting. Being able to send new tweets without having to stop what you are doing would be really cool, though we're not holding out much hope that Apple will give it to us.

Once again though, the jailbreak scene has us covered, with TwitkaFly doing the business this time around...

App Store Download Numbers Now Larger Than Music Store

With Apple announcing that its App Store had reached the impressive 15 billion downloads mark, research company Asymco has crunched the numbers and, as it turns out, the App Store has now surpassed the iTunes music store in download rankings.

This conclusion comes after a bit of detective work based off Apple's announcement a month ago that it had served 15 billion songs. Asymco believes app sales have now overtaken song sales- an impressive feat...

Korean Court Orders Apple to Pay Up Over Location Tracking Fiasco

We all remember the infamous "Apple's tracking my movements and is going to follow me around town with a camera" fiasco, don't we?

Assuming you've not been living under a rock for the last few months - and Apple's GPS data tells me you haven't - then you'll remember that Apple's iOS devices were accused of keeping tabs on users' locations and storing the information in an unencrypted file on said users' computers.

Well, as it turns out, one South Korean iPhone user has forced Apple to cough up a spot of compensation, though we aren't exactly talking mega-bucks...

iUsers Jailbreak Tweak Brings Multiple User Accounts to the iPad

When Apple first announced the iPad way back before we knew the joys that a 9.7" slab of glass could bring, we all immediately thought that the tablet would be a great coffee table device - perfect for leaving out and offering as a family machine.

The problem with that notion, though, is that the iPad is more of a personal device than Apple likes to let on.

Just like our iPhones, the iPad is designed to be used the way one member of the family likes it - their wallpaper, their settings, their apps. This approach really limits the way we can use our iPads, and plays right into Apple's hands when it comes to sales - two and three iPads sold per household instead of just one.

If only we had iOS user accounts, just as we do on our Macs...

Is an Overheating A5 CPU Delaying the iPhone 5?

Do you have a rather large pinch of salt handy, perchance? You do? Then let us begin.

According to Chinese-language site Sohu.com, the lack of a new iPhone this year could be down to a manufacturing problem with the handset's fancy new A5 processor.

The problem, according to 9to5Mac, is that Apple's oh-so-clever iPhone engineers are having issues with the A5 CPU getting a tad warm, what with the iPhone being so small and space being at a premium...

Apple Buys iPhone4.com and WhiteiPhone.com Domain Names

Interesting news for those who like to keep tabs on domain names - a noble cause indeed - with reports that Apple is now the proud owner of two new URLs.

According to Fusible, and in turn TechCrunch, both iPhone4.com and WhiteiPhone.com are now owned by the Cupertino web masters, with the two addresses already pointing to Apple's iPhone 4 product page...

PanAmp Offers a New Way to Play Music in iOS

One of the slight blotches on the iOS report card is the platform's less than inspiring iPod app. Yes it's functional, and yes its user interface won't make you want to poke your own eyes out with a cocktail stick, but it's just not very exciting.

Past the app's lack of excitement, it's lacking such simple features. If only there was an app that we could use to replace the boring iPod app on our iPhones. Something a little more interesting. As of July 14th, there will be, with PanAmp due to be released into the vast ocean that is the App Store, and we think it's going to be a bit of a hit...

Gaming Giant Claims Mobile Devices Will Outpace Today’s Consoles Within Two Years

John Carmack, the man behind id Software (the team responsible for the likes of Quake and Doom) believes it won't be long before our portable devices are more powerful than the games consoles we're playing on today.

In an interview with IndustryGamers, Carmack shared his views on the current state of the iOS gaming world, claiming that while the current crop of best-selling titles are smaller, lighter titles, such as, Angry Birds, the time will come that we find ourselves using out smartphones and tablets to play the full-fledged titles currently reserved for home consoles...

VirusBarrier: The First Malware Scanning App For iOS

It had to happen sooner or later, and we now have our first iOS application designed for catching and eradicating malware.

While there are currently no known malware threats to iPhones, iPads or iPod touches, VirusBarrier is aimed at scanning the files we all find ourselves sharing around our local network...

PDF Converter Turns Documents into PDFs on Your iPad

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to take an existing Pages or Numbers document and convert it into a PDF right on our iPad, making it readable on just about any device you could possibly want to send it to?

Unfortunately, though, the iPad doesn't currently support the ability to print to a PDF- a feature we half-expected Apple to add alongside the bungled release of AirPrint.

As an aside, does anyone actually use AirPrint? If you do, we'd love to hear why and when you make use of this little known and rarely used feature, in the comments!

Now, back on subject...

Apple’s Two New iPhone Ads: FaceTime and AirPlay

In an attempt to get even more iPhone 4s shipped out the door before the supposed iPhone 5/4S release later this year, Apple has released two new ads, showing off two of the handset's marquee features.

Apple's iconic iPhone ads are no doubt on a par with the much-loved 'Get a Mac' ads, and the two new additions follow the same theme....

Record Video Instantly From Your iPhone’s Home Screen with Capture

With Apple's iPhone 4 possessing one of the best cameras for recording HD video around, it's understandable that we all want to get as much use out of it as possible.

The only problem with the iOS Camera app is it's just so slow to access. Add in the time taken to tap the icon for changing from still to camera mode, and chances are you've just missed whatever it was you wanted to film in the first place.

Capture is an App Store app that offers a much quicker way to record video on the iPhone, without the need to sit and wait for Apple's own app to go through the motions...
