It’s been a busy morning for the Odyssey Team. After having just updated the iOS & iPadOS 14-based Taurine jailbreak to version 1.1.2 with support for the latest Sileo release, they’ve now done the same with the iOS & iPadOS 13-based Odyssey jailbreak.
Shortly after the Sileo Team launched Sileo v2.3 on Friday with bug fixes and to replace the Packix repository with the Havoc repository as a default, the Odyssey Team published an updated version of the iOS & iPadOS 14-centric Taurine jailbreak.
The Sileo Team on Friday updated the Sileo package manager app for jailbroken iOS & iPadOS handsets to version 2.3, introducing a slew of changes and enhancements for users.
Nine times out of ten, you’re going to see jailbreakers using older iPhones with not-so-current versions of iOS on them, and this tends to pose an issue when you’re also trying to get the latest and greatest Apple Watch and load the newest version of watchOS on it.
Apple last week publicly released iOS & iPadOS 15.3.1 with bug fixes and security improvements for iPhones and iPads alike. Consequently, we knew it wouldn’t be long until Apple closed the signing window for the older iOS & iPadOS 15.3 firmware.
It’s not uncommon for people to lose their jailbreaks, and as we always say, those who aren’t jailbroken should always stay on the lowest possible firmware to ensure jailbreak eligibility. If you’ve jailbroken an iPhone or iPad in the past five years, then you should be at least vaguely familiar with the Packix repository. It served as one of the biggest places for jailbreak tweak and theme developers to host their content, including paid packages in a post-Cydia Store community.
Prospective jailbreakers often cling to the lowest possible firmware to cement their jailbreak eligibility in the future, sometimes only to find that a new jailbreak release supports a newer version of iOS or iPadOS that they refrained from updating to.
While I enjoy using jailbreak tweaks to alter the behavior of my handset to better suit my needs, I also enjoy adding fun and quirky jailbreak tweaks to the mix. Not only can they be conversation starters to get more users into jailbreaking, but they also offer endless entertainment.
