Deepen, Forrest, Supernotes, and other apps to check out this weekend

Welcome back to another episode of our Apps of the Week roundup! We have some great picks this week, including an AI therapy app (nervous laugh), an innovative fitness tracking app with a fun twist, and a powerful notes app. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game for you to check out.

Deepen: AI Therapy, counseling

Revealing all your deepest thoughts and feelings to AI, what could possibly go wrong? I know, I get it, there are at least 1,000 red flags here. But for folks who are maybe too shy or skeptical to talk to an actual person, this app could prove to be a useful alternative. With Deepen, you participate in interactive chat sessions using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to simulate traditional therapy, and then the app helps you identify patterns in your mood over time to better understand your mental health. Obligatory disclaimer: this app is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

Forrest — Run. Ride. Race!

Here’s an interesting app that has been around for a bit and recently received a big 2.0 update. It’s called Forrest, and it’s an innovative fitness tracking app designed for iOS users who want to add a fun and challenging twist to their running and cycling workouts. The twist is that you can actually set up virtual races against friends, or your own personal bests, and compete in things like running and bike-riding. The app gives you real-time updates on your race position, delivers important info to your Apple Watch, and even syncs up with Strada and Apple Health. Cool.

Supernotes – Free Your Mind

Have we featured Supernotes on here before? It sounds familiar, but I couldn’t find it in our backlog. Anyway, I am a sucker for a sharp-looking notes app — just like getting a new backpack for school, there is a sense of newfound organization when you invest time into new note-taking software. Supernotes is in version 3 and it is just loaded with features like Markdown and LaTeX support, QR codes, real-time collaboration, unique 3D visualizations, and more. If you don’t already have a go-to notes app, or are looking for a change, this one seems worth checking out.

Lunar Lander Mission

Want a really cool-looking, chill game to check out this weekend? Let me introduce you to Lunar Lander Mission. I’m not real sure of the genre — flight simulator? physics? platformer? — but it’s inspired by the original Lunar Lander Atari games. In it you must fly a spacecraft between landing pads in low gravity, avoiding obstacles, and trying to complete levels in record times. There are 3 different spaceships to fly, 36 levels, and the developer says there are more to come.
