New Apple Arcade games in April 2023: Cornsweeper, Summon Quest and others

Apple Arcade is getting four new titles for you to play on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV in April 2023, including Summon Quest from Team17, a unique take on the Minesweeper classic, a new Doctor Who game and more.

UPDATE (April 28): Although Apple officially announced that Cornsweeper will be launching on Arcade on April 28, the Cornsweeper App Store listing has now been removed. We’ll let you know if Apple re-adds Cornsweeper to the Arcade lineup.

Apple Arcade’s lineup for April includes three original titles—an action RPG from the legendary Team17, an official Doctor Who game and a unique take on Minesweeper—plus an Arcade version of an open-world ski and snowboard App Store classic.

New Apple Arcade titles launching in April 2023

The new games, released throughout April, are exclusively available to Apple Arcade subscribers at no extra charge. You can touch or click the Get button on each game’s page to receive a notification when the title is ready to be downloaded.

Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist (April 7)

This IP-based game that developer WhaleApp created with publisher TiltingPoint (which has three titles on Netflix Games) is its first-ever Apple Arcade release.

Featuring an original story in the Who universe and different quest modes, this game has you finding hidden objects while playing various mini-games and events, whether online or offline. If you like puzzle gameplay, don’t miss out on this one!

Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist supports iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS.

Grand Mountain Adventure+(April 28)

Developer Toppluva mainly focuses on Nintendo, and this is its second App Store title. Based on the current Grand Mountain Adventure game for the iPad, Grand Mountain Adventure+ offers gameplay without ads, in-app purchases or tracking.

The open-world ski and snowboard simulator sports an effective trick system that lets you perform flips, spins, corks, rails and combos. There’s plenty of content to keep you glued to your screens. The game features 11 open-world mountains to explore, featuring challenges like avalanches, wildlife, sunsets and busy slopes.

On top of that, three are over 200 different challenges to discover, including Super G, Slopestyle, Freeride and Big Air. in addition, the game offers a Zen mode for those times when you just want to unwind by marveling at the mountains.

Local multiplayer is supported over Wi-Fi.

Summon Quest (April 21)

Team17, one of the longest-standing game developers, is releasing Summon Quest, its action RPG with challenging combat and diverse gameplay.

You must clear each stage to unlock new equipment and expand your arsenal with new skill combinations. You’ll recruit summons to fight by your side, defeating bosses and exploring the game’s magical world. Summon Quest offers 60 levels to keep you busy. If that’s not enough for you, how about beating each region on easy, medium and extreme difficulty levels for some pretty nice rewards?

Cornsweeper (REMOVED)

Created by developer Robert Morrison, Cornsweeper is a relaxing version of Minesweeper that features unique visuals and lo-fi music.

The game has lots of potential even though it was created by a single developer. The whimsical reimagining of the beloved classic replaces mines with delicious popcorn, tasking you with avoiding explosions.

With 70 handcrafted levels and sleuth clues to find secrets, Cornsweeper offers unique twists. There’s also a dynamic Arcade mode that you’ll need to unlock first.

Cornsweeper supports iOS, iPadOS, tvOS and macOS.

How to view a list of upcoming Apple Arcade games

To see a list of upcoming Apple Arcade titles, hit the Arcade tab in the App Store on your device, then scroll down and touch the option See All Games. Click Filters at the top to narrow the list by release date, then turn on the Coming Soon filter.

Apple may remove tiles from the catalog due to poor engagement or when contracts expire. Removed titles are available on Arcade for two more weeks.

Apple Arcade isn’t a game-streaming service like Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming. Instead, you must download each title to run it locally on your device.

Many titles in the Apple Arcade catalog support the latest Sony and Microsoft controllers, as well as Nintendo’s Joy-Con and Switch Pro, 8BitDo joypads and other MFi-certified controllers like SteelSeries’s’ Nimbus and Stratus.
