4 new games hitting Apple Arcade in August 2022

Apple has announced via @AppleArcade on Twitter five new titles coming to its game-subscription service in August 2022. All four games are sequels to or remixes of some of the App Store’s most-downloaded and celebrated titles.

You can play these and 200+ other titles for free with an Apple Arcade subscription.

1. Amazing Bomberman 2

A new Bomberman game, not to be confused with the App Store’s original Amazing Bomberman, is much like you’d expect from the celebrated game franchise which dates all the way back to 1983. In Amazing Bomberman 2, you’ll need to place explosive charges around a bunch of mazes as you strive to open up paths.

Along the way, you’ll also blow up your opponents. Aside from the single-player aspect of this game from Konami, there’s also multiplayer where you can play with up to three to help you litter the battlefield with every more bombs.

2. My Talking Tom+

This is an Apple Arcade-exclusive version of the App Store’s My Talking Tom series of games which cast you as an adorable kitten. In My Talking Tom+, you’ll be doing lots of walking around, being curious about your surroundings like any cat is. You can even change your character’s fur style and color pattern to resemble your own real-world cat.

You’ll be also talking feline companion, fooling around and just playing like all cats do. The game will keep your gray matter occupied with a bunch of mini-games and matching puzzles. As you progress throughout the game, you’ll unlock room decor and outfits. The trailer included above is for the existing App Store game.

3. Jetpack Joyride 2

Launched all the way back in 2011, Jetpack Joyride is one of the most popular endless runners on the App Store. A sequel, an Apple Arcade exclusive, sports the same type of gameplay that made the first title so popular. As we explained in a separate post, this means you’ll be equipping your character, named Barry Steakfries, with a jetpack and other items as you attempt to score as many points and collect as many coins as you can.

You’ll need to dodge tricky hazards and battle giant bosses to progress to the next level. As you’d expect from a Jetpack Joyride sequel, there are plenty of power-ups to collect, such as a pigeon launcher that ejects fluttering robot birds or a piggy bank that rains money. In arcade mode, you can play limited-time levels such as Frost Survival, where you try to avoid icy projectiles.

4. Love You to Bits+

This is another remix of the existing App Store title. In Love You to Bits+, you’re tasked with collecting pieces of Cosmo, your robotic love that got blown to pieces. There’s a twist to each level of the game, developers note. “Each puzzle-filled level has its own twist. One minute you’re manipulating a time loop; the next, you’re shuffling between seasons,” reads the description. There are many game-related Easter eggs to discover in this lovely crafted point-and-click adventure.

How to view a list of upcoming Apple Arcade games

Apple reserves the right to remove tiles from Apple Arcade based on metrics like engagement. The Cupertino company recently removed 15 games from Apple Arcade as its first contracts with developers have come to an end. Apple has said before that all pulled Arcade titles are available to play for two more weeks.

To see a list of upcoming Apple Arcade titles on the App Store, first hit the “Arcade” tab in the App Store, then scroll all the way down and choose “See All Games.” On the “All Games” screen, filter the list by release date and toggle on the switch labeled “Coming Soon.”

How to get Apple Arcade for free

Apple Arcade gives you access to a growing library of more than 200 titles across your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. All games are free of ads and in-app purchases. Apple Arcade costs $5/month after a free trial. You get three months of Apple Arcade for free when buying a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV. For additional information about the service, visit apple.com/apple-arcade.

Apple Arcade is not a game-streaming service, awning that all titles must be downloaded to run locally on your device. Many Apple Arcade titles support game controllers. With iOS 16’s expanded controller support beyond Sony and Microsoft controllers, you’ll be able to play games with Nintendo’s Joy-Con and Switch Pro.
