The endless runner category of games is pretty popular on mobile devices. Jetpack Joyride, which launched all the way back in 2011, is one of the most popular titles out there. And for fans of the game, and who also happen to subscribe to Apple Arcade, there’s good news. A sequel is finally coming.
The even better news is that the upcoming sequel is launching this month. On August 19, 2022, in fact, according to a report from The Verge. Jetpack Joyride 2 will bring back the same type of gameplay that made the first title so popular. Which means you’ll be playing as the main character, equipping yourself with a jetpack (and other items), and trying to score as many points (and collect as many coins) as you can each run.
Interestingly enough, it looks like the developers behind the game, Halfbrick Studios, are looking to add a bit more story to the mix this time around. In fact, the devs say this one’s a “story-driven experience” right out of the gate. Which makes sense, if last year’s trailer for the game is any indicator. You can check that out in the video above.

If you happen to be someone who has not played the original game, but want to try it out, Jetpack Joyride+ is available in Apple Arcade right now. This is the same experience as the original game (which is also available in the App Store), but only available in Apple Arcade. Which means it has no ads or in-app purchases.
Meanwhile, with Jetpack Joyride 2 set to be an Apple Arcade exclusive as well, this means the title won’t be weighed down by any advertisements or in-app purchases, either. Arcade does require a subscription, though, which costs $4.99 per month.
