How to replace an AirTag battery

The AirTag tracker uses a regular CR2032 battery that’s used on watches, and other small items. It is a 3-volt lithium coin cell, which can offer up to a year of battery life on your AirTag with regular usage. This battery can be purchased from most stores and is also available online. Before you replace the battery, make sure that you remove it from any attached AirTag accessories.

1) Turn the AirTag on its plastic side, with the Apple logo facing you.

2) Hold the AirTag with two fingers, push down and twist the stainless steel cover counter-clockwise. The cover will pop out.

3) Remove the CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one with the + side facing up.

4) Place the stainless steel cap back and twist it clockwise till it locks in place.

There you have it. You have successfully managed to replaced the Apple AirTag battery. The new battery will last another year, so you don’t have to worry about it often. Meanwhile, you can also check the battery life of all your AirTags with the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad. It’ll also send you a notification when the battery is low and needs replacement.
