An earlier report from Japanese blog Macotakara alleged that the next iPhone might bring out a new deep blue color option, later described as being closer to a “dark Space Black,” similar to that used for the Space Black stainless stell Apple Watch.
Be that as it may, a new video from Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy shows off an iPhone 7 mockup with kind of blue-ish, purple-ish tone to it. It’s “a very unusual color for Apple and it doesn’t exist anywhere else in the product line,” says Hilsenteger. Read More

Prolific designer Martin Hajek was back again on Thursday with a new set of mockup photos for the iPhone 7 in the rumored Space Black colorway. As usual, Hajek’s renderings are gorgeous and the details of the handset match up closely with recent reports.
Following up on its own claim that Apple is looking to add a deep blue color variant to this year’s iPhone, Japanese publication Mac Otakara said earlier this week that the hue is going to be closer to a “Dark Space Black,” similar to that used for the Apple Watch. Read More

Prolific 3D artist Martin Hajek has taken it upon himself to envision what an iPhone 7 model with a rumored dark blue colorway might look like. The resulting renderings will make you a believer, if for nothing else than the fact that those antenna seams could be far less visible on the dark blue background. Read More

Well known designer and mockup artist Martin Hajek released a new concept for the MacBook Pro on Thursday. As usual, Hajek’s renderings are gorgeous, and the details of the laptop design match up closely with recent rumors and reports.
Perhaps the most prominent feature is the OLED touch panel that sits above the keyboard, in place of the function keys. The panel first popped up in an investor note from Ming-Chi Kuo, and it has since been corroborated by other sources. Read More

Apple’s next smartphone refresh may or may not bring a major design overhaul to the iPhone that fans have been holding their breath for, but we still fully expect the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to be worthwhile upgrades in terms of both the looks and the features.
The rumor-mill does think, however, the device could have a cleaner look and feel due to the antenna lines being relocated to the very top and bottom.
The rear camera is said to protrude less from the housing and have a bevelled look and we might even get a pair of grilles at the bottom for stereo speakers. Taking it all in, Dutch 3D artist Jermaine Smit has imagined the iPhone 7 Plus in a concept video. Read More

Force Touch parts for Apple’s upcoming ‘iPhone 6s’ and ‘iPhone 6s Plus’ phones have recently begun shipping in volume.
We even recently got our glimpse into the implementation of a force sensing layer on a leaked iPhone 6s screen. That being said, some people continue to be puzzled as to what benefits, if any, Force Touch would bring to their iPhone experience.
Maximilian Kiener set out to create a nice mockup video which gives us a good idea how pressing an iPhone’s screen firmly could be a valuable user interface shortcut. Read More

An astonishingly detailed profile of Apple’s design head Jony Ive that was published last week by The New Yorker makes an interesting side note about an upcoming Star Wars movie.
According to the article, director J.J. Abrams said Ive made “very specific” suggestions about lightsaber design for Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.
The quote prompted 3D artist Martin Hajek to come up with a batch of renderings showcasing his amusing depiction of a Jony Ive-fied Star Wars lightsaber. Read More

Thanks to YouTube user Canoopsy (via Nowhereelse.fr), we now have a good sense of the size of Apple’s allegedly upcoming ‘iPad Pro’. The mockup video depicts how a 12.2-inch iPad would stack up against the current-generation current iPads, iPhones and 13-inch MacBook Pro in terms of size. The video is included after the break so give it a quick watch and meet us in comments. Read More

With the iPhone 6 expected to get one of its largest redesigns ever, designers have spent the last year creating concepts of what they believe the handset will look like. Some of them would probably be better suited for a science fiction novel, but others have looked fairly plausible.
This latest concept from well-known designer Martin Hajek may be one of the most realistic we’ve ever seen. Based on leaked parts, physical mockups and rumors from multiple tech outlets, Hajek has laid out his vision for the iPhone 6 right down to the circuits on the logic board… Read More

I’m sure most of you are as tired of iPhone 6 concepts as I am—between rumors of a redesign and the constant barrage of part leaks, designers have had more to work with than years past—but these new mockups from Thomas Moyano and Nicolas Aichino are worth noting.
The images depict Apple’s handset with all of the rumored hardware changes, including the thinner profile, rounded edges and relocated Power button. But there’s one major difference between this design and all of the others we’ve seen thus far: no ugly antenna break lines… Read More

As news reached us this morning that Apple could launch its next iPhone in mainland China on Thursday, September 25, and given a purported 4.7-inch front panel leaked in a video which suggests the possibility of one-handed use, we now have a better idea of when the device could launch and how it might feel in one’s hand.
There has certainly been no shortage of leaked parts thus far, such as the supposed display covers, backplates, LCD parts, manufacturing molds, etc.
The problem with these leaks based on rumors is their crudeness that don’t do Apple’s industrial design and precision manufacturing a justice. Enter Ukrainian designer Mark Pelin, who has created high-resolution renders that offer arguably the best indication yet of what a finalized design of the iPhone 6 in Space Gray might look like… Read More

I wish Apple put me out of my misery and released the iPhone 6 already because an influx of videos comparing those questionable dummy units to just about anything is overwhelming me. Just this morning, for example, I pointed you to a video which shows off the supposed minor changes in the next iPad’s design.
Now I’ve decided to highlight another video that I think does a great job explaining how the bigger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 would compare to popular 5.5-inch Android handsets such as the LG G3, Oppo Find 7 and One Plus One.
It’s right after the break so give it a quick watch and join us in comments for a healthy discussion… Read More

Earlier this morning, we showed you new photos of a meticulously designed iPad Air 2 dummy unit with Touch ID incorporated into its Home button.
And now, a fresh batch of purported iPhone 6 manufacturing mockups has surfaced, depicting what a Space Gray variant of Apple’s upcoming bigger and thinner iPhone model could look like.
Credited to sources in Japan and Korea, the images show the purported mockup next to an iPhone 5s and HTC’s One smartphone… Read More

Some new photos of alleged iPhone 6 models surfaced this morning, courtesy of Sonny Dickson. We’ve seen several photos of physical mockups to date, but these by far offer the best representation of what Apple’s next smartphone is expected to look like.
It’s believed that the iPhone 6 will come in two display sizes: 4.7 and 5.5-inches, and today’s images show the two variants sitting side by side. This not only give us a good idea of the handset’s design, but it also indicates how the two models will vary in size… Read More

One of the crazier rumors we’ve heard thus far involving the iWatch comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said the accessory may cost as much as ‘several thousand dollars.’ Kuo is well respected in the Apple community, but this particular prediction seemed a bit off.
That is, unless the iWatch ends up looking like this new concept from Curved/labs that surfaced earlier this week. The site envisions the rumored smartwatch looking like a high-end Rolex, with a digital chronograph face, wireless charging, and several other features… Read More

Another day, another iPhone 6 dummy. Based on purportedly leaked design drawings published last month, enthusiast Hidenori Satou has used a MakerBot Replicator 2 3D Printer to produce a mockup of Apple’s upcoming 5.5-inch handset. The dummy unit is rather crude and as such is used to highlight the size difference between the current four-inch iPhone 5 and the upcoming 5.5-incher… Read More

With everyone and their brother 3D printing iPhone 6 mockups, virtually every single day brings another iPhone 6 “leak” that wants to go viral. There’s just too much stuff proliferating out there so iDownloadBlog usually only covers the material we specifically deem newsworthy.
This would typically entail photos and footage that bring something new to the conversation, be it a never-before-seen angle, an interesting design choice or other curious detail.
Today’s video is no different.
Created by an Italian enthusiast blog, it pits an unusually detailed physical iPhone 6 mockup against the iPhone 5s and the fifth-generation iPod touch, showing the supposed design differences from various angles… Read More
