Designed by Apple in California, ripped off wholesale by Samsung in South Korea

Apple ad (Designed by Apple in California 001)

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So if Samsung created Apple’s awesome ‘Intention’ video (part of the new ‘Designed by Apple’ ad campaign), the results would no doubt look something like this…

Here is the ‘Samesong’ clip, someone’s funny take on the ‘Designed by Apple’ thing.

Rings true to me (via The Loop).

For reference: Apple’s nice ‘Intention’ video that kicked off the WWDC 2013 keynote.

In addition to the above video, Apple is also airing a nice mission-statement commercial that can be seen virtually everywhere, with print ads and more coming.

I kinda hoped Samsung would never copy Apple’s next-gen Mac Pro because its friends in South Korea wrote it would exit the desktop biz altogether, but it turned out to be false.

“Can’t innovate anymore, my ass!”

Meet us in comments.

Honestly not that funny. I don’t see how Samsung has been copying Apple. Put a Galaxy S4 next to a iPhone 5. They look nothing alike. Put TouchWiz next to iOS 7. They look nothing alike. In fact, TouchWiz honestly had some of the new features in iOS 7 when the Galaxy S3 came out.

Before you call me a fanboy, I am currently using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7. I’m definately not a fanboy, I’m just pointing out the obvious.

    • Bobby McBobson

I agree many people are so biased and fanboys and they all think Apple is God.

      • Sam

        Yeah, it is really ridiculous.

      • Nick Wilson

Haven’t you heard of the religion of Applitism, where steve jobs is God and all samsung owners are devilworshippers? Jk

      • madzzoni

Apple is the SmartPhone God!! – Without Apple had U not a Smartphone as today!!!! Period! Like it or Not!!!

      • subhan

        agreed

      • Joseph

Except that’s completely irrelevant to the point as to whether Samsung is copying Apple or not. Yes, they did. But we’re far past that now.

      • Dominik Odobašić

Samsung QBowl, to name one, 2006. It would only be a matter of time when would be using smartphones with this form factor. Exclamation points don’t make your point valid, facts do!!!

      • madzzoni

Ha ha Dominik, QBowl was NOT a true userfriendly “Touch screen” device like the first iPhone, remember?? – Apple was the first who presented a user-friendly Smartphone without use of a stylus or a physical keyboard ;-) … Apple founded the technique all other manufacturers has copied today!

      • Dominik Odobašić

Keep laughing. I was talking about the evolution of design. Leapfrogging. The design philosophy changes, Apple does something, other manufacturer improves, another one improves further, Apple improves upon that, someone else improves on that and so on and on. The circle of innovation and improvement. Apple made a big jump in 2007 with the iPhone. So what? That makes the iPhone 5, more than 6 years later, the best device on the market? I don’t think so. What happened in the past stays there. Years have passed and if Apple wants to stay competitive in TODAYS market, they have to improve; iOS 7 is a good start.

      • Sam

Apple didn’t invent smartphones, and smartphones were selling decent in 2006. Android had been in development for years, and Symbian came out in 1997. Without iPhone, the smartphone market wouldn’t have been effected, it would be similar to how it is today.

      • Jack

Not at all. The smartphones at that time were mostly keyboard based and even those touch screen ones used a stylus. No way you could use your fingers to use a smartphone. Apple went ahead with a finger touch display and the whole industry changed.

      • Sam

Apple wasn’t the first to have a touchscreen that you could use a finger on by far. Let’s take a look at the HTC TyTN, you could use your fingers on it, and it was released about a year before the iPhone. You act like all smart phones in 2006 used a stylus when they didn’t.

      • Jack

TyTN had a frigging keyboard, and used a stylus for typing using touch screen. It didn’t have multi touch, used a mouse pointer for clicking those small tabs/icons/ menus. And I said all the smartphones that time either had a stylus, or a keyboard or both. The screens were NOT developed for being used with your fingers. If you could touch those tiny little characters (trying hard to type with us fingers eh?), it doesn’t mean that the device for natively designed to be used with fingers.

      • Sam

Doesn’t matter if it wasn’t meant to be natively used with fingers, the point is that you still could. Who cares if it had a keyboard, too? I wish smartphones still had physical keyboards.

      • Jack

You sound like – “Oh mom! Look I can use the edge of a knife to screw and unscrew. Whoever invented a screwdriver copied the knife!”

      • Evan_Beezy

this guy is blind. Android developement did a complete 180 when iphone released

      • ShuttingUpFanboys

Really? Did you work for Google and Android during development?

      • madzzoni

Guest: Easy to pronounce when the revolution allready took place! I didn’t said that Apple invented the SmartPhone!! (There were also people on earth before the Bible was written!)

Apple founded the technique all other manufacturers has copied today, because the market demand that! The fact is that before the iPhone hit the market, all other Smartphones was not user-friendly and clumsy built! (I’ve tried many from Motorola, Nokia, HTC, QBowl, etc.) … Win Mobile was a joke compared to IOS at that time!
Apple showed the way to user-friendly technology just by expanding their iTunes concept to include the iPhone, very easy task! ;-) .. Look at the Android-Market, it’s just like a copy of the App-Store concept today!

        From Wikipedia:

“Before the release of the iPhone, handset manufacturers such as Nokia and Motorola were enjoying record sales of cell phones based more on fashion and brand rather than technological innovation.
The iPhone however fundamentally changed the industry, with Steve Jobs proclaiming in 2007 that “the phone was not just a communication tool but a way of life”.

The dominant mobile operating systems at the time such as Symbian, BlackBerry OS, and Windows Mobile were not designed to handle additional tasks beyond communication and basic functions; iPhone OS (renamed iOS in 2010) was designed as a robust OS with capabilities such as multitasking and graphics in order to meet future consumer demands.

These operating systems never focused on applications and developers, and due to infighting among manufacturers as well as the complex bureaucracy and bloatness of the OS, they never developed a thriving ecosystem like Apple’s App Store or Android’s Google Play.

Rival manufacturers have been forced to spend more on software and development costs in order to catch up to the iPhone. The iPhone’s success has led to a demise in high-end fashion phones and business-oriented smartphones such as Vertu and BlackBerry, respectively.”

      • Rag

I’m not even going to try to argue with you because you seem like the type of person who only likes to hear stuff that favors their argument.

      • Bobby McBobson

Applitism, yeah.Their pilgrimage is the developer conference in june and their holy days are releases of new phones.

      • Jack

        Who are you? shameshong??

    • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

Try to increase the iPhone screen, then reduce the bezel and off course the “home button” and you will see the Galaxy phone, for sure.

Pretty easy to reproduce this on Photoshop and call it “innovation” inspired by “water”.

      • Hisham

what should i do more ???? wth?? they are phones of course they will look similar, grow up

      • Juan Herrera

Ignorance is bliss and these guys are in Paradise right now

      • Kurt

iPhone 4 was a clear copy of LG Prada 1. Macbook Air is a clear copy of a Sony Viao from 2004ish?

      • Jack

Not at all. LG prada vs. iPhone 4 and MacBook Air vs. Vaio can be differentiated from a mile away.

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

Oh you silly ignorant. you must work at samesung for sure. if you believe that all phones must “look a like” than you definately work at samesung.

Silly are the brands that can make smartphones that doesn’t look like the iPhone and doesn’t make them based on the iPhone, with only small differences… like “more rounded…” with “bigger screen”.

      • Jack

Oh! I have a house. You have one too. I bet they look the same.

    • Juan Herrera

I’m no fan boy but those adds are very similar and samsung hasn’t run ads like this.. they’ve been doing smear campaign commercials just like windows and nokia have now. Apple is continuing to run its race without smearing and just focusing on how people love and use their products. Samsung’s S4 isn’t doing too well, cutting production 2 months after release and even the S3 is being cut out the lineup just a year later. Again, not a fanboy, but as you stated, just pointing out the obvious.

      • Sam

Oh don’t even try to start about how Apple doesn’t mock it’s competitors. Take a look at the several Mac Vs PC ads Apple had run in the past.

Also, I wouldn’t judge how good a phone is by how well it sells. If everyone had this logic, the Nokia 1110 would be considered the best phone of all time.

      • Juan Herrera

I never said they hadn’t in the past. Mac and PC will compete forever.. And that’s not fair to compare them to this because back then they were the only two names that really existed in PCs for one, and two, Windows is an OS pushed by many manufacturers just like android is, on 150+ models from several companies, and apple is one company with one phone a year. What’s worse is Apple isn’t just taking on A rival.. It’s taking on EVERYONE. Every competitor is targeting them, though they claim its product to be boring and dated. Samsung even has laptops/ tablets coming running dual OS’s (windows and Android.. teaming up against Apple.. Really?) If it’s so dated and boring, why even smear them in commercials? They would bury themselves if that were the case. As a apple user (and yes i have windows products also), i appreciate a simple and stable phone. Ease of use is a huge factor and i’ve had many phones from blackberry, to androids, to iOS and iOS ( as simple as its made out to be ) is my favorite. The smear campaign from companies with many phone models targeting a company with 1 new model a year is sad regardless and if i were considering to switch, their tactics alone would be a turn off from their products.

      • Sam

I’m not even go to try to argue with you, because you voted up Wamid’s comment.

      • felixtaf

Whats the point in arguing with you “Sam-“? Bring “-sung” too… Lets argue.. lol

      • Juan Herrera

Good, IDC to argue with you. I’m not here to argue and that alone shows fanboyism at its best. You came here expecting to argue, but you say you were just pointing out the obvious. All i did was point out the obvious as you did with facts to support and your next reply implied you were prepared to argue. How can you argue someone’s feelings or experiences they’ve had? Again, just pointing out what’s obvious.. And yep, i voted up on his comment because both your statements lack some truth, but he didn’t look to argue by calling anyone a fanboy first, did he? Bloatware won’t help Samsung win, and they’re learning that now. Defend it if you want.. I wouldn’t wanna spend my money on a 16Gb S4 and only get 8 Gbs of storage right out the box with having buying a SD card as the way to fix it..

      • Sam

I’m definitely a fanboy. I have an iPhone 5, that must be why I am talking about Android, right?. Also, I would rather buy an SD Card. It’s a lot cheaper than paying Apple $100 for double the amount amount of storage.

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

Are you comparing a SD Card to a NAND memory?
o..m..g… the lack of knowledge it’s strong with this one.

      • Sam

Nope, didn’t compare them at all. You are just pulling that statement out of your ass. I’m just comparing the amount of storage, and although flash memory reads/writes faster than microSD cards, most microSD cards can read/write around 20MB/s now-a-days. This is plenty fast enough for typical transfers that SD cards are used for on phones such as pictures, videos, and apps.

      • Jack

Mom! I want a 1000cc Ducati. with 20l tank capacity

No baby! Let us get you a rat bike and we will just add external tank to the bike to make it 20l

      • Juan Herrera

Having a iPhone doesn’t stop someone from being a fanboy.. It’s the arguing to the death that makes a fanboy a fanboy and you came here ready.. Obviously you haven’t disputed any point i made because you know besides my opinion, the rest is definitely fact and i don’t know where you are, but sales are definitely a great measure of who is attracted to what products currently.. The nokia you spoke of wasn’t popular, it was one of few decent options and out of those options at the time, it sold well. This is much different.. this is the android regime’s 150+ models still not being able to kill off the one and only iPhone like they’ve been saying for years, including Samsung’s S3 which was nicknamed the iPhone killer around its release (Ha!) and S4 which was an S3 with more pointless features and bloatware.. and is failing miserably right now.. both flagships for Samsung.. One boosted Samsung’s sales (and android who they carried on their back) from nothing to something, the other is taking them from something back down on the way to nothing again

      • sjimmiep

Sam is trolling on Shamsungs behalf..

      • Sam

Yes, because I said I have an iPhone 5.

      • Kurt

what you just did, IS trolling. Good job troll on trolling and not knowing you just trolled. know what trolling is now that you just trolled, troll?

      • Jack

^^ Biggest troller here. Needs to be con”trolled”

      • James

Agreed. I would never switch from Apple because the competition blatantly makes fun of Apple consumers all the time. Way to alienate potential customers, guys.

      • Joseph

If that’s the only reason why, you really need to learn to take a joke.

      • James

        Jokes get old…fast.

      • Kurt

Not good ones. My favorite one was the one from Nokia or Windows…. “Aren’t you a little young to be using an iPhone”

        haha classic!

      • Juan Herrera

it’s not a joke when it’s all your ads have to say.. too busy not advertising features of your own products that aren’t selling well because you wanna be funny.. great way to succeed, indeed

      • Kurt

Poor guy, are your feelings hurt? Let’s get your depression pills

      • Sam

Yes, because Apple never mocks its competitors.

Apple had their infamous Mac VS PC ads throughout the 2000s, and at almost every one of their conventions they mock other mobile OS with sales and market share.

      • sjimmiep

Where do you think samesong got the idea?

      • Sam

        The idea for what?

      • sjimmiep

And Microsoft copied Apple with windows 95

      • Sam

Ok then, if you look at it from that perspective, then Apple SUN OS, which was made a year before Mac OS.

      • Kurt

don’t forget during WWDC 2013 apple attacked android and Samsung numerous times

      • Sam

Apple always attacks other operating systems during their conferences, but they don’t attack Windows all that much. Probably because it has around 90% market share.

    • Wamid

The obvious is; every single feature in the iphone has been copied by touchwhizz in one way or another. they just add more useless crappy features just to say they added more features.

apple takes its time to perfect the experience of one feature to the user.. Ive used touchwiz and it is clear that they have put no thought on how the user is going to “feel” or think when using that crap. no asking themselves how anything could be better.

      • Sam

Oh god, I hope this is sarcasm.

      • Wamid

it is. << now that's sarcasm.

      • Sam

Ok, well congratulations on being an Apple fanboy to the extreme. Go ahead and tell me every feature Samsung copied from Apple, then I will tell you every feature Apple has copied from Android in general.

      • Indian Food

I wouldn’t say Samsung copied – they have some unique features on their phones, however, they don’t make me want to use their phone more.

      • Sam

Well, Wamid claims Samsung copied every single feature they have from Apple.

      • Hisham

yeah like notification center , air drop , live wallpapers ……>>>> now this is SARCASM HAHAHA

      • Sam

Even Android has had the ‘parallax’ effect since September.

      • Hisham

i know right?? these fan-boys are unbelievable , me i couldn’t be less of a fan i have a PC with windows AND hackintoh on it an ipad and iphone but switching to htc one very soon .

      • Jack

That was there as a cydia tweak for iPhone since 2011. Beat that.

      • sjimmiep

Roidboi Sam. Is Samsung paying you to troll this blog? I’m not sure why you would be on here. It not iAndroid blog. Take a hike.

      • Sam

I wish Samsung was paying me, but no, I have an iPhone 5, BTW.

      • felixtaf

Thats what every Samsung troll say in this blog… lol

      • Sam

You realize how ridiculous it sounds to say Samsung payed someone to come on an iPhone blog about jailbreaking to talk good about Android?

      • felixtaf

Its not ridiculous… there is evidence that Samsung paid guys in taiwan (I guess) to talk trash against HTC… So, its not new.. goolge it…

      • Sam

        That’s actually pretty funny.

      • felixtaf

Fact, not fun.. If u think that am lying, goolge it…

      • Sam

I did Google it, I was saying the fact they did it was funny…

      • jp2002

Samsung gives out iPhone 5’s to its evangelists, so that when they argue in blogs, they can take cover by saying “I have an iPhone 5″.

      • Wamid

I don’t have to tell you anything. look it up..

this was the case where we were talking about Samsung copying apple. not android. there are somethings that were “adopted” by android earlier than iOS but that doesn’t mean they are invented by android. Again.. go look up Samsung’s entire line of devices before the iPhone and then comeback here saying they did not base their whole new lines upon somebody else’s success.. I don’t wanna bring up the app layout, app shapes, app icons (phone app) and other things that were clearly imitating iOS.

as for “features” they just add one more pixel to their already-too-awful camera and call it “change” to trick you into buying their devices.. I’m telling you this assuming you know something about what megapixels means for cameras.

go ahead.. call me an apple fanboy again.. weak defense ;)

      • ShuttingUpFanboys

Ok, well I’ll explain some features Apple ‘borrowed’ from Touchwiz and Android. (and some others)

        Notification Center (Android)
        Quick Toggles (Android)
        Air Drop (Galaxy S)
        New Multitasking Layout (webOS)
        iOS 7 weather app (Microsoft)
Stock Mail App (Android and Dropbox)
The Dynamic Background (Android; Purple Live Wallpaper Stock)
        iTunes Radio Layout (Google Music)
iOS 7 Lockscreen (Stock JB Lockscreen)
iOS 7 Tab Swtiching in Safari (Google Chrome)
        iCloud Keychain (Google Chrome Sync)

Apple ‘borrowed’ designs as well. Compare the LG Prada 1 to the iPhone 4, the MacBook to the Sony Viao from 2004, a lot of their products look like Braun products from the 1900s,

There is more, but this should just give you an idea. Is that a weak defense for you?

Now, onto the icons. The stock android icons are not all boxes like Apple’s, and the ones from the Play Store are designed by the app’s PUBLISHER, not Google.

Apple also didn’t make the design for the everyday smart phone. Apple didn’t event a rectangle with rounded edges and put a screen on it.

If you think Android copied the iOS layout, then you must think iOS copied Symbian’s layout.

You think Samsung added 1 more megapixel from the S3 to the S4? You should probably retake 1st grade math because 8 to 13 isn’t 1.

It’s funny that you say Apple adopted some features later than Android, but Android still didn’t event the features, but if Android copies a feature Apple didn’t event, you would probably go crazy saying “ANDROID COPIED IOS WOW BE ORIGINAL”.

        Anything else?

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

The ignorance it’s strong with this one. With all the facts around, he still believe that Samesung never copied Apple… How much they pay to you to say this silly and senseless things? Do you really believe what you say?

Even the weather app? LOL… the original one it’s from Yahoo you ignorant! They where the first and Apple still uses their widgets like they used since ever. In case you didn’t know it, MacOSX have widgets much before Android was born! And yes, weather app it still designed by Yahoo!

iTunes? lol… seriously… you must…be.. joking.. for sure

      • Rag

Apple didn’t make most of the designs, so Samsung wouldn’t be copying Apple, would they?

I don’t get paid for commenting on a blog, and I do believe what I say. Apple didn’t make most of their designs, they got them from other companies, such as Braun. If Apple borrowed designs from somewhere else, then Samsung wouldn’t be stealing them from Apple. It’s that simple, but you probably don’t understand that. The Bing Weather app has been around longer than the Yahoo Weather app.

Ok, Mac had widgets before Android. Remind me why you are comparing a full-fledged desktop operating system to a mobile operating system. Not to much logic behind that, is there?

I’m not joking about how the layout of iTunes Radio is very similar to the layout of Google Music. You can look for yourself.

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

First, you need to understand why Apple had similar designs from Braun.

1st, they are iconic. 2nd, dieter rams allowed that and 3rd and the most important. They are not rivals, they don’t sell the same products!

So don’t even compare from Samsung vs Apple, where they totally ripped of not only a rival, but a client also and never, ever, asked them to allow that.

iPhone and iPad are originally made by Apple, they are not inpired to any other device!

Dieter Rams (Braun designer) about Apple

        youtube com/watch?v=HGPIqGi7MWY at 3:00

Samsung is a shame of a company and I feel sorry for the people who defend them! And I mean it… It’s so easy to copy and ad some “features” but that my friend, you can’t call it innovation!

Samsung is cheap, like their users. Who have no taste or original ideias thats why they rip off everything without any shame! Samsung president (Lee Kun-hee) is also corrupt, so Samsung practices are exacly the same… protected by the south korea because they are a important key for their economy. As a manufacture, they are great indeed, but taking advantage from their clients to rip off every products it’s a shame.

They do this now with Apple, like they did in the past with Motorola and Nokia. They always copied the most powerful companies from their time!

      • Jack

Ahhh…. And mac copied windows tooo… Right?

    • seyss

that green phone icon in the bottom left just shows their intentions

      • Sam

Ok, Notification Center, Quick Toggles, Air Drop, Live Wallpapers all seem like intentions of Apple copying Android and Samsung.

      • felixtaf

        This is for you…

        9gag dot com/gag/5215322

      • Sam

Ok, then this is for you. applehypocrisy dot tumblr dot com

Also, did you know Samsung recently got the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 banned in the US?

EDIT: Watch this video as well.
        youtube dot com/watch?v=3X-3Xwr36QA
        Tells facts and gives proof.

      • felixtaf

Ha ha ha.. not even 5% of Samsung’s cloning… I see abt control center… Did u see the 9gag link?

      • Sam

(Because 9Gag is a reliable source)

The copying was about iOS copying Android and certain features on Android phones. Nice job.

      • felixtaf

Look at the devices SIR… God.. what a troll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9gag isnt rliable, ok.. but those pics are available in google too… Google it

      • Sam

I did look at the devices, but you still fail to acknowledge I was talking about the OS. It’s funny how you think Apple was the first company to make devices with designs like that.

      • felixtaf

ha ha ha.. So copying hardware is ok… right.. Obvious.. thanks…

      • Sam

Ok, then Apple copied hardware, too. Apple didn’t invent a rectangle with a touchscreen.

      • felixtaf

ha ha.. Good info.. How much u got recently? they pay cheque or cash?

      • Sam

        Who exactly paid me?

      • Sam

Oh, and if you would look at that Apple Hypocrisy blog, you would easily see Apple uses hardware and software designs that others have already had, too.

      • felixtaf

Did i say that Apple invented everything? Samsung is a copycat accept that.. Discuss Apple vs Samsung…

      • Sam

Ok, then Samsung wouldn’t be copying Apple would they? If Apple didn’t invent everything, then Samsung wouldn’t be copying their original design would they?

      • felixtaf

R u in this world??? 3gs, 4 and Only 3G ipad 2… And Samsung still appealing for half billion dollar settlement for patent against Apple.. U know that???

      • Sam

They also got the 3G iPad 1 banned in the US. Has Apple gotten any Samsung products banned in the US?

      • felixtaf

Half billion is smaller than a 3 yr old device ban???.. MORON!

      • Sam

So we are comparing money to time now?

      • felixtaf

Money for patent suit SIR!!!!!!!!!!! How old are you SIR???

      • Sam

I’m just going to guess older than you. Throwing insults around at people is a sign of immaturity. Samsung is appealing Apple’s law suits because Apple sues Samsung for just about anything. Almost as soon as the Galaxy S4 came out, Apple added that to their neverending list of ‘patent-infringing’ products. Go ahead and explain how the Galaxy S4 design is a direct copy of the iPhone, when the Galaxy S4 looks nothing like the iPhone.

      • felixtaf

Does the ad says S4 imitates iPhone?

      • Sam

I find it ironic that you call me stupid, then use improper grammar in your sentence. You need to stay on topic as well. You were now talking about Apple’s lawsuits with Samsung, now we are back to talking about the ad?

      • felixtaf

Ok.. teach me some grammar now… Apple lawsuits aginst Samsung is not for water or land.. its for patent infringement.. that is, unauthorized copy of patents from Apple… Does the ad has anything about S4 and iPhone 5?

      • Sam

What ad? You mean a video on YouTube created by one of YouTube’s users? I really wish you would stop bringing up hardware when I started out talking about software. As I already said, you were talking about Apple vs Samsung lawsuits, and the Galaxy S4 is in the lawsuit, therefore it is relevant to the topic at hand.

      • felixtaf

Am not talking about some youtube users video, am talking about Apple’s ad…(Bitch please, you said ad in previous comment). Lawsuit is not only for design with rectangular corners… Since u know that iPad 1 is banned (?) not for design…

      • Sam

I said ad because you mentioned it. You should probably be more specific because there are 3 videos in this article.

      • felixtaf

“You were now talking about Apple’s lawsuits with Samsung, we are back to talking about the ad?”

“to talking” – What a grammar… and you are teaching me grammar… If u r about point out my grammar mistakes, you do write well first…

      • Sam

“back to talking about the ad” is correct grammar. You realize you are losing this argument? One of my comments has more votes up than all of your comments combined. You are also one of the only people voting my comments down.

      • felixtaf

        Lame……. lol

      • Sam

You say lame because I was right, or because people agree with me more than they agree with you? Stop being a sore loser.

      • jp2002

This just nails all the fandroid comments on this blog..

      • felixtaf

Cant stop them.. They creat an account, jus to troll and finally say that they own ipad and iphones…

      • Sam

Here’s the thing, I do own an iPhone 5.

      • Sam

Obviously quite a few people agree with me, because my comments get quite a few votes up regardless of the fact that this is a Apple-related blog.

    • felixtaf

You talk like S3 is the first Samsung device and S4 is the second one… Or you may be born after S3 release. Samsung ripped off every design of Apple from box to cables to everything… Touchwiz was a copy of iOS interface. U must check the similarities in Gingerbread era… Hope u got the link from 9gag…

      • Sam

You are an obvious fanboy. I know the Galaxy S3 isn’t their first smartphone, I never implied that at all, so stop pulling that out of your ass. Also, if I was born after the Galaxy S3 release, that’d make me 1 year old. Pretty impressive grammar for a 1 year old, don’t you think? TouchWiz isn’t a copy of the iOS interface. If you think that, you must definately think iOS is a copy of Symbian, then.

      • felixtaf

Am an obvious fanboy… But you are a ridiculous troll.. Y compare S3 and S4 to iPhone 5 when 100s of Galaxy devices resemble iPhone, its box, its cable etc etc etc.. Even macbooks, mac mini…

      • Sam

Yeah, let’s just step away from the Galaxy S devices because they don’t favor your argument. Oh, and of course, Apple invented the first rectangular phone, and Apple invented the first laptop with spaced keys. Yeah, right.

      • felixtaf

Dont be so stupid… U saw the link and realize any similarity??? if not check ur eyes… I NEVER said that Apple invented everything… But Samsung blatantly copied Apple… Latest one is Passbook Icon… So dont think that Samsung is innocent (Apple neither)…

      • Sam

I still find it funny you are arguing about device design (which Apple didn’t invent those designs anyway), when I was talking about operating systems.

      • felixtaf

iOS vs Samsung isnt the topic.. Apple vs Samsung is the talk.. then why discuss about iOS vs Android? Samsung dont have a credible OS!

      • Sam

That’s great because I started out talking about iOS and Android in the first place, but you keep changing the subject. Think about these things before you throw insults my way.

      • felixtaf

“Honestly not that funny. I don’t see how Samsung has been copying Apple. Put a Galaxy S4 next to a iPhone 5. They look nothing alike. Put TouchWiz next to iOS 7. They look nothing alike. In fact, TouchWiz honestly had some of the new features in iOS 7 when the Galaxy S3 came out.”
        – Where is iOS vs Android here? Why wud u talk about iOS vs android in an article about Apple vs Samsung? and do tell me who is changing topic here???

      • Sam

You started talking about lawsuits and other Samsung devices. Touchwiz is a form of Android, so right there I compared Android and iOS. So I haven’t changed my topic too much.

      • Sam

I’m going to bring up a point Kurt brought up. If you think almost every Samsung device copies Apple, then you must think that Apple copied Sony with their 2004 Sony Viao line, and Apple copied LG with their LG Prada 1.

      • felixtaf

You must be blind then… Compare that Sony Vaio x505 vs Macbook air vs the Samsung series 5 ultrabook.. Which two look alike? obvious, Samsung cloned the macbook air and Mac mini too. You are so dump to realize that and talk about Apple hypocrisy bla bla bla….. And you forget to realize that Samsung products resemble Apple products. No point in arguing with you…

      • Swag

Yet again, you throw insults, and you cannot even spell dumb right. Congratulations on completely destroying your credibility by throwing insults and spelling stuff wrong. Oh, and in reference to your other comments, putting several exclamation points (!!!!) after a statement doesn’t get your point across more than it would without them (especially when your argument is wrong).

Anyways, back to the argument… Compare a Sony Viao from 2004 to a Macbook of today, they look very similar. I pointed out to the Apple Hypocrisy blog to show Apple products resemble other products too, but you, for some reason, do not understand that at all. You find no point to argue with me anymore because you know you lost, you are the one who started arguing with me in the first place.

    • Diego Gastón Milano

Although I am not entering the Apple VS Samsung or any other third party firm or product/software maker, what’s explained in the video is true. At least during the last decade, the market has been working this way and it is true that until both parties reach an agreement, settle or one loses at court and pays, this latter already earned A LOT in between.

One of the issues is how slow litigating can be, but at the same time that powers these companies and thus the market and the competition.

      Sad… but true.

    • MarcPhilippeB

Thats obviously right. But it all startet with the Galaxy s1, and this was a straightforward copy of the iPhone, the Android system inclued. But I admit, over time it evolved in something quite different. And we can’t blame Samsung for Android, can’t we? Thats Googles empire.

      • Sam

I agree with you. Samsung did obviously make the Galaxy S devices as a response to the iPhone, but it did change into something completely different.

    • Jack

Do you remember how similar did the samsung tab look to the iPad? That was even proved in a court of law where samsung’s own lawyer failed to recognize a “same” tab from an iPad. Even the icons on TouchWiz interface were copied.

  • Lee

I think Samsung need to start actually promoting their phones, rather then trying to get publicity from shunning other products. It’s getting a bit old now and their latest attempt isn’t really that funny…

And they need to promote things other then just taking photos and drawing crap on them… Your phones might be cool Shamesung, but your advertising sucks.

    • Altechi

They have actually, it’s just that Zibreg selectively chooses these types of ads to get more clicks

  • Taf Khan

We all know that before apple came along Samdung were only good for producing clamshells. They have tried to copy apple in many ways they want to be apple. Deny it all you like but we know its true, samsuck know its true, and Shamesungs own designs docs provided evidence of incorporating everything good about apple into its own design… It’s not about disliking other brands or just being pro apple. I just got the wifey the htc one, and would consider further android purchases, but wrong is wrong, Samdung deserve all the stick they get.

    • Sam

      You are a fanboy.

      • Juan Herrera

And that’s where you start looking like a sore loser.. but we’re the fanboys.. lol.. That’s just as shameful as samsung cutting the 1 yr old S3 out of its lineup and cutting the S4 production already.. Samsung can be the hare all they want, because the turtle wins that race if you haven’t learned in kindergarten yet.

      • Sam

I called him a fanboy because he completely destroyed his credibility by calling Samsung ‘Shamesung’ or ‘Samesung’. I feel the same way when people call iOS fans iSheep or anything else. If you are going to insult the company like that in your argument, in my mind, you seem like the sore loser, and you lose all credibility in my mind.

      • Taf Khan

Chill out dude. This is a blog, don’t take everything personally. Ppl can call me what ever they like or apple whatever they like… It’s on a blog so CHILL!

      • sjimmiep

        Sam has Roids

      • subhan

        so what ?

  • Hisham

android had features that ios could only dream about , like file transfers between ANY device NOT ONLY the latest devices(the sad thing that they convince themselfes that they dont need it and when apple implements it HO LEE SHEET its an innovation like never seen before ) personally, i have an iphone 4s and an ipad 3 what should i do? buy a new device every year ? impossible , for now im sticking with the ipad but my next phone will be a htc one!!!!

    • Juan Herrera

You say this like android products don’t refresh every 6 months to a year.. ex: Galaxy S3 released may 2012.. Galaxy S4 released April 2013..

      • Hisham

first of all thats a year -almost- unlike the ipad that i got screwed over by releasing the ipad 4 after , secondly i was talking about the features , why on earth doesent the ipad 3 or the iphone 4s support the new features like airdrop , dont tell me its hardware dependent cuz thats BS .

      • Juan Herrera

Notice i said 6 months to a year.. It’s still fact! to get things on the track he wanted.. Samsung had a good run and had Android on its back for a while but the ride has to end eventually. Now they have 3 more models coming of the same phone they’re cutting production on now, 2 months into selling it.. the gimmicks suck badly. You said you’ll get an HTC One.. i’d be happy for you if you got that, it’s a great phone, but the S series won’t be doing well

      • Hisham

yeah i didnt like the plastic like phone the htc one seems a lot more premium . good to see that there are open minded people out there , good day !

  • Sam

Oh man, some one from a competing company uses another companies hardware? No way! *sarcasm.

All of the above isn’t correct, and he completely destroys his credibility by calling Samsung ‘Shamesung’ or all of those other stupid names.

  • Joshua Catimpo

Does apple authorize copying from google and youtube?

    • Joshua Catimpo

I meant does google and youtube authorized apple to copy them?

  • Joshua Catimpo

Samsung… Have your own little world. Apple and Microsoft is the original competitors since history

  • mehrab

Tbh i think apple wants samsung to invent something like a windows phone typa software and ui which is different there are still some same things about ios and touch wiz

  • Patrick

haha good, samsung does copy off apple so much, if apple as a company died so would samsung, now lets all kneel and bow to apple, for ever an ifan;)

  • Zaidan Umar

    pwahahaha

  • batongxue

Competition as well as innovation is good for us consumers.
Fact is that every company COPY or CLONE other companies.
I just wish the votes up to Samsung and votes down to Apple are not done by poor students paid by Samsung.

  • Gorgonphone

what do we know about samsung..??? they suck
