iOS 10’s Safari improves animated GIF experience, prevents spammy videos from autoplaying

Among other enhancements, Safari on iOS 10 boosts the animated GIF experience for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users while preventing spammy autoplay videos from interrupting your browsing, according to the WebKit blog. On iOS 9, an animated GIF won't start playing until it's tapped.

With the new Safari, silent videos autoplay on webpages when they're visible because iOS 10 respects their “autoplay” attribute when source video tracks have no audio or have been muted.

But if a video gains an audio track without user interaction, like those spammy autoplay video ads on websites, playback automatically pauses.

Blurry video out of China compares claimed Rose Gold iPhone 7 rear shell to iPhone 6s

Earlier in the week, a video out of China gave us a nice look into iPhone 7 dummies in Gold, Rose Gold and rumored Space Black. It's time for another iPhone 7 video as we head out into the weekend.

Brand new footage, which surfaced last evening on Chinese social media, offers yet another comparison between a claimed iPhone 7 rear shell in rose gold finish and a Rose Gold iPhone 6s.

Video walkthrough: Siri + Music changes & other fixes in tvOS 10 beta 3

Earlier this week, Apple seeded a third beta of iOS 10 (build number “14T5296d”) to its developers who are registered with the Apple Developer Program.

Although the software is light on new outward-facing user features, it still contains some noteworthy fixes along with improvements for Siri, 'Made for iOS' game controllers, the Music app and other aspects of the operating system.

We went ahead and asked our video editor Andrew O'Hara to spend some hands-on time with tvOS 10 beta 3 and capture his impressions on video.

Here's what Andrew had to say about beta 3.

Video: iPhone 7 mockups in Gold, Rose Gold and rumored Space Black

Many rumors surrounding Apple's upcoming  iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus suggest a refined iPhone 6s industrial design with subdued antennal lines on the backside and the usual Gold, Rose Gold and Silver finishes, with at least one source pointing at a possible Apple Watch-like Space Black variant.

The first video, shot by Robert S. in Bregenz, Austria, shows a first-person view of Robert zip-lining. The second video has more of an artsy vibe. Shot by Mark Z. in Manhattan, New York, it features a young woman with her hair flowing in the wind, captured using slow motion.

Another video compares claimed iPhone 7 casing to iPhone 6s

Two days ago, a six-second clip gave us our first non-static look at a claimed iPhone 7 dummy case.

Last evening, French blog NowhereElse.fr shared another video that was posted to Chinese microblogging site Weibo, which offers a side-by-side comparison of an iPhone 7 casing against the iPhone 6s's industrial design.

Corroborating prior rumors, the claimed clip shows a larger camera opening on the backside plus redesigned, more subdued antenna lines and—you guessed right—no headphone jack. If Apple follows its usual release schedule, the iPhone 7 will make its debut in September.

Posted to the Chinese social network Weibo by an unknown source, and first spotted by Dutch site TechTastic.nl, the short six-second clip gives us a look at the backside of what appears to be a 4.7-inch iPhone 7.
