Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston is the voice behind new iPad Air ad

Apple introduced a new iPad mini and full-sized iPad yesterday to a packed audience at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center. The former is now sporting a crisp Retina display, and the latter has been redesigned as the 'iPad Air.'

The company has already posted an ad for the Air on its YouTube channel, showing various settings the tablet is used in with a voiceover talking about its versatility. And if you thought the voice sounded familiar, you were right...

Remarkable sophistication of Mac Pro manufacture

Not that long ago, these three words - 'Made in USA' - stood out for American quality, craftsmanship and reliability. What a difference a few decades make! As everyone's been building virtually everything in China, small wonder even Apple's boss Tim Cook, like his predecessor Steve Jobs, suspects those manufacturing jobs won't be coming back anytime soon. What might is (some) assembly work.

It was only recently that the nation's tech brands began experimenting with doing final assembly domestically. Motorola, for example, is putting the final pieces of the Moto X in place at a Texas plant, previously a Nokia facility.

Apple, in the meantime, has always designed its products in California and tapped its vast network of suppliers and contract manufacturers in Taiwan and China to build its gizmos. That's starting to change now as Apple's next-generation Mac Pro marks the company's return to the US in a limited manufacturing capacity.

The upcoming dream desktop is being assembled in a $100 million U.S. plant. And like Motorola's, Apple's facility is located in Texas. So, how does Apple build such a sophisticated and radically rethought desktop computer? Industrial designer Greg Koenig took a closer look at an eye-candy Mac Pro assembly video Apple played at yesterday's keynote, here's what he gleaned from it...

Apple’s new ‘Life on iPad’ video highlights creative iPad uses the world over

In addition to the inaugural iPad Air television commercial dubbed 'Pencil' and the promotional video featuring Jony Ive and other executives who talk about solving the design challenges of making the iPad Air 28 percent lighter and 20 percent thinner, another video has just gone live on Apple's YouTube channel.

Appropriately titled 'Life on iPad,' this one celebrates Apple customers' creativity and genius in using their iPads and covers a wide range of uses in business, education, entertainment, health and in many other fields.

It's included right after the jump so give it a quick watch right now...

Apple’s inaugural iPad Air ad – ‘Pencil’ – hits YouTube

You've read all there is to know about Apple's iPad Air, watched Jony Ive talk enthusiastically about the crazy attention to detail that had gone into designing the product - perhaps streamed or even downloaded the entire keynote to your computer - and now you can appreciate Apple's inaugural, feel-good, mission-statement iPad Air ad.

This is the same 60-second commercial that was played to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts audience yesterday, and now it's just gone live over at Apple's YouTube channel. It's included for your viewing pleasure right after the fold and I urge you to give it a watch and join the discussion down in the comments...

iPad keynote now available on YouTube and iTunes

Apple rather uncharacteristically not only live-streamed yesterday's keynote through its website and on Apple TV, iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, but has also made a replay available shortly thereafter. The October 2013 Apple Special Event video is now available on-demand through the Apple Events section of the company's website.

I typically prefer to keep Apple's keynote clips handy for later reference and offline viewing. As a bonus, I get to keep the videos forever and make as much copies as my heart desires. Right on cue, the iPhone maker has now made the entire iPad keynote available as a downloadable video podcast on iTunes...

Relive every moment: you can now stream the iPad keynote from Apple’s website

Apple's iPad keynote video is now available for streaming straight from its website. It works on mobile or desktop, and through a web browser, but you'll need the QuickTime plug-in installed in order to enjoy the presentation on beige Windows boxes. If history is an indication, the clip should hit YouTube and iTunes in a couple days tops.

Until then, block out the next 86 minutes of your life, sit back and relax, grab some popcorn and enjoy as Apple CEO Tim Cook and his sidekicks Phil Schiller (SVP of Worldwide Marketing), Craig Federighi (SVP of Software Engineering) and Eddy Cue (SVP of Internet Software and Services) deliver the latest on the Retina iPad mini, iPad Air, 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pros, the next-gen Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks and iLife/iWork...

Watch Apple’s iPad Air promo video now

Apple's event has wrapped up. As the media continues to chew on on the announcements, Apple's already refreshed its homepage with gorgeous graphics, new product information and promotional videos. These feel-good clips featuring Apple execs like design guru Jony Ive also pop up on Apple's YouTube channel, though usually a few days following the event.

In my personal opinion, the iPad Air promo is definitely worth sharing and even though one can always stream this particular clip straight from Apple's website, I've decided to make a YouTube version for easy embedding, have a look below...

Apple to live stream today’s iPad event

It looks like Apple will provide a live stream of today's iPad event after all as Apple TV owners report that the Apple Events channel has been updated on their $99 set-top box to reflect Apple's invitation graphics.

"Watch the special event held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, CA," the event listing reads.

Additionally, the company will be live-streaming the show to iOS devices and Macs through the new October 2013 event section on its Apple Events web page...

Watch this guy recreate the iOS 7 Home screen in Microsoft Word

http://youtu.be/RZp7BvQJnU8

What if iOS 7 had been created using Microsoft Word? The chances are very slim to say the least, but you'll see in this video that this is not completely impossible either, as Word expert Vaclav Krejci demonstrates for us.

Of course the video isn't in real time, and if you're not impressed by the fact that iOS 7 could have almost been designed using Microsoft Word, you have to be impressed by Krejci's skills.

Watch iSpaceship approval press conference vid

Apple's upcoming spaceship-shaped corporate building, called Campus 2 or iSpaceship, has cleared the last hurdle as the City of Cupertino Council approved the project. Encompasses more than 2.8 million square feet, Steve conceived iSpaceship to house office space, various amenities and roughly 12,000 employees (to put that in perspective, the city of Cupertino has a population of just over 60,000).

Cupertino Mayor Orrin Mahoney and Apple's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer spoke at a press conference yesterday, officially announcing the approval of the Apple Campus 2. They also filed a bunch of sometimes nonsensical questions, have a look after the jump...

Yahoo Screen update adds AirPlay multitasking

Yahoo last month posted a new iPhone and iPad app, Screen, pitched as a remote control for web video of sorts.

That's a tall order, I know, but keep in mind that the Internet giant hosts tons of original and licensed news, sports, food and entertainment video content from the likes of MLB, UFC, The Onion, Martha Stewart and others.

Deal breaker: AirPlay support was non-existent.

That's quite a bummer for yours truly as those juicy vids beg to be watched on my big screen TV. Luckily for me (and everyone else), Yahoo heard my pain and issued an update so I can now finally beam a clip to a TV through my $99 Apple TV box while using the app to browse Yahoo's Screen library. Cool!
