‘Priority Hub’ brings the Blackberry 10 priority hub feature to iOS 7

Looking for a better way to sort your Lock screen notifications on iOS 7? Then try out Priority Hub, a new Blackberry 10 inspired jailbreak tweak that just landed on Cydia's BigBoss repo.

Priority Hub allows users to group Lock screen notifications by app, allowing one to easily see notifications pertaining to a single app at a time. It's a great way to simplify the iOS 7 Lock screen and make it easier to read at a glance.

We've taken Priority Hub for a test drive via our hands-on video walkthrough. Check past the jump for the full scoop.

Upcoming jailbreak tweak ‘OS Experience’ promises to bring true multitasking to iPad

We noted on the most recent episode of our podcast Let's Talk Jailbreak that it's an exciting time for jailbreakers right now. It seems like every few weeks we have a major new tweak coming out—Auxo 2, ProWidgets, IntelliScreenX 7—and today we have a another one to add to the list.

It's called 'OS Experience,' and it's described as a "revolutionary iOS tweak that brings true multitasking to your iPad." Built by developer Evan Swick, the tweak reminds me a lot of the 'Spaces' feature in OS X, with a full-featured window manager, live application previews, and more...

Dropbox unveils new iPhone app: Carousel, the gallery for all your photos and videos

Cloud storage startup Dropbox today hosted a press event to update the press on its business, announce a few new initiatives and show off its new product: a dedicated photo and video management app called Carousel.

Though Dropbox has had basic photo management features in place in the web interface for some time now, these very very basic: you can browse photo thumbnails, rename individual snaps, move them between folders and more.

Unfortunately, Dropbox never adopted the concept of albums and events, which is how most people organize their snaps. Enter Carousel, a brand new iPhone application that lets you store and manage all your photos and videos...

Upcoming ‘PushNotify’ tweak will let you forward push notifications from iOS to the Mac

I've been testing PushNotify for a few weeks, and now I can finally talk about what it does. A lot of you have been asking me about this tweak, because you've seen its settings featured in my other videos and screenshots.

PushNotify, to put it simply, is a jailbreak tweak that lets your forward push notifications to the Mac. It does so by means of a small menu-bar utility that runs on the Mac, and a jailbreak tweak that's installed via Cydia on your iOS device.

We've taken PushNotify for a test drive on video, and we'd like to show you how it works. Check inside for the details.

GesturesPlus: improve the pinch-to-close iOS 7 animation

If you've used Auxo 2, you're probably aware of the interesting animation that occurs when closing an app using a swipe-up gesture from the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. The result is an animation that features all of the app icons on the Home screen zooming out in sync with the closing application.

This is the same pinch-to-close gesture that's available on the iPad, and it's only recently gaining significant notoriety on the iPhone due to Auxo's slick implementation of it. In iOS 7.1, Apple changed the animation slightly to better represent an app's presence in iOS' three dimensional space, and GesturesPlus—a recently released tweak available for free on Cydia's BigBoss repo—brings these changes to lesser firmware.

Admittedly, the function of this tweak is a bit difficult to explain in writing, so I encourage you to click past the break to watch the video  where I compare the animations before and after GesturesPlus is installed.

Amazon announces it’s passed Apple and Hulu in streaming video usage

Following the unveiling of its new Fire TV box last week, Amazon announced today that video streams on Instant Video nearly tripled over the past year. And according to a report from tracking firm Qwilt, the e-commerce giant has surpassed Apple and Hulu in streaming video usage.

The report doesn't mention how traffic for Apple and Hulu is being tracked, but it does show that Amazon experienced a 94% traffic volume increase of streaming video users in the last 12 months. In fact, in March, Amazon's Instant Video service was only topped by Netflix and YouTube...

Auxo 2 update brings improved performance, CCToggles compatibility, and more

Don't be fooled. Despite the fact that the latest update to Auxo 2 is labeled as an incremental 1.0.2 update, you'll find quite a few fixes and enhancements in its change log.

One of the biggest complaints about Auxo 2 was that it lacked compatibility with popular tweaks like CCToggles and LockHTML3. That has all been remedied in version 1.0.2, which is available right now on Cydia.

I've taken version 1.0.2 for a test drive, and I've found a stabler and more mature Auxo 2. Have a look inside for the details.

Persistent search bar and swiping improvements added to Vimeo’s iOS app

Back in February, the video sharing service Vimeo added support for the handy swiping gesture to its free iOS app.

You can swipe right to reveal options to share a video, like it or add it to your Watch Later list. Swiping left marks a video for download so it can be accessible on your device without an Internet connection.

Today's update, now available in the App Store, removes the Watch Later option when you swipe from left to right, leaving only sharing and liking options in the menu. But don't worry, Watch Later is now available when you swipe from right to left. As a bonus, the app now adds a clip to your Watch Later list and marks it for download at the same time.

Vimeo version 4.0.10 also includes a new persistent search bar at the top, but more on this after the break...

How to quickly kill background apps in iOS 7

Clear Background Apps is a recently released, and extremely simple, jailbreak tweak that's available on Cydia. It lets users quickly kill all apps using a button found at the top of the iOS 7 App Switcher.

If you're looking for a quick method for easily getting rid of all running apps on your device, it doesn't get much simpler than Clear Background Apps. We've taken it for a brief test drive inside; check past the break to see how it works.

Amazon Instant Video gets overhauled with iOS 7 styling

Amazon on Monday issued a new version of its Instant Video for iOS app. Available free in the App Store, the new Amazon Instant Video version 2.5 now finally features a brand new user interface on the iPhone and iPad which honors Apple's human interface guidelines for iOS 7 development.

Released initially for the iPad in August 2012 and later updated with iPhone UI, the app picked up support for background AirPlay wireless streaming to the Apple TV back in September 2013.

If you live in the Amazon cloud, Instant Video for iOS is your gateway to the world of Hollywood entertainment available on Amazon's video service. Today's facelift arrives after the online retail giant announced (and started selling on the same day) its own set-top box last week, the $99 Fire TV that does voice and runs games.
