Hulu updates Apple TV app with new categories and improved playback

Great news today for Hulu Plus users. The popular streaming service has announced this morning that it has created a brand new app for the Apple TV that will make it easier to find new content and play it back on your favorite set-top box.

Hulu says it has "redesigned the Plus experience from the ground up" with a new content section, a new "Shows You Watch" tray for quickly accessing your favorite shows, and a more streamlined playback feature, with new Play button...

Facebook for iOS updated with cover photo, group messaging improvements

Facebook has released another update for its iOS app this afternoon, bringing it to version 5.6. This is the app's third update in as many months, as the social network continues to improve its mobile experience.

Today's update brings about a handful of improvements, including an easier process for updating your cover photo from inside the app and multiple changes to group messaging. Full change log after the fold...

Mail Enhancer Pro 2.0 is out with support for iOS 6 and more

NCAA March Madness iOS app updated for 2013 tournament

Great news college basketball fans. NCAA's March Madness Live app for iOS has been updated today for 2013. March Madness is a two week-long affair, with 68 teams playing in a single elimination tournament to find a champion.

Overall, a total of 67 games will be played over the course of the event. And with NCAA March Madness Live, you'll be able to watch all of them on your iPhone or iPad. You'll also be able to check scores, watch highlights, and more...

YouTube Capture is now optimized for iPad

Google's standalone YouTube video recording and uploading software, YouTube Capture, has been updated today to work natively on the iPad and iPad mini.

Now a universal binary supporting all your iDevices natively, the program enables you to quickly capture a clip on  your iPad, perform basic touch ups, type in some meta data and upload your work in full HD to YouTube.

We're not sure who in their right mind would want to record footage on a tablet, but editing and managing those clips surely feels much more natural on the iPad's bigger canvas...

Apple adds Flyover and 3D buildings to several new cities in Maps

When Tim Cook wrote his open letter last September, apologizing for the quality of the new Maps app, he said that Apple would work on it non-stop until it lived up to its incredibly high standards. And it has been.

Though it hasn't garnered much media attention, Apple has made a number of improvements to its Maps app over the past six months, including adding Flyover support and 3D building images to several new cities...

Chrome for iOS updated to fix jailbreak-related startup crash

Last week, Google rolled out an update for its Chrome browser on iOS. The update included a new sharing feature, the ability to quickly view your browsing history, and unfortunately, a major bug for jailbroken devices.

Users on jailbroken iPhones and iPads noticed that after installing the update, Chrome would crash upon startup. And it's a good thing we found a fix for it when we did, because Google is just now getting around to it...

Tumblr updates iOS app with new camera and Photosets

Users of the popular blogging site Tumblr will be happy to hear that a fairly significant update for the iOS app has just posted. The update includes an all new camera interface and a handful of new features.

Perhaps the most notable addition is the ability to create Photosets from within the app. Tumblr released a standalone app for Photosets last fall, and it's finally decided to roll the feature into its official client...

Rdio iOS app updated with new album and playlist views

Continuing its crusade to overhaul its iOS application, Rdio has released yet another update for its music streaming client. This is the app's second update in just under a month, and it brings the software to version 2.1.3.

There are a handful of changes listed in the release notes, but iPhone users will notice two of them right away. Both the album and playlist views have been revamped, making the app more attractive and easier to use...

Google updates mobile Gmail web app with new UI and more

Google has updated its mobile web application for Gmail this afternoon with a refreshed user interface, similar to that of its recently revamped iOS email client, and a few other improvements.

In addition to its new look, Google says that the mobile app update also brings new features such as improved search and integration with Google Calendar, search predictions, and more...

Apple updates iOS Maps in Japan with bug fixes and other improvements

Back in February, Apple seeded a beta version of iOS 6.1.1 to developers. The update featured a lengthy change log of some much needed fixes and improvements for its iOS Maps application in Japan.

Of course, Apple forewent that release in order to push out bug fixes for the iPhone 4S, and later Exchange. But it looks like Japan users finally got their new Map data that they've been waiting for today...

Retooled Apple TV found to have die-shrunk A5, not A5X

Earlier this year, a software update for the Apple TV (5.2) revealed a new device labeled "AppleTV3,2." After digging through some FCC documents, and some code, it was discovered that it was just a tweaked version of the third-gen ATV with an A5X processor.

Or at least it appeared that way. The retooled set-top box has just begun hitting Apple Stores, and the folks over at MacRumors were able to pick one up and crack one open this weekend. And they've determined that its processor is actually a die-shrunk A5 chip...
