unc0ver

Stay up-to-date with the latest news and releases of unc0ver, a semi-untethered jailbreak for all devices that support iOS and iPadOS 11.0 to 14.3.

Substitute updated to v2.0.12 with speed and memory usage optimizations

Sam Bingner has launched an updated version of the Substitute tweak injection method this evening, officially bringing the package up to version 2.0.12.

Substitute is used by default on the unc0ver jailbreak when installing tweaks and add-ons and can be installed manually by the end user on the checkra1n jailbreak if Cydia Substrate isn’t already being used. But regardless of which jailbreak you use, this is an update you probably won’t want to miss.

Substitute receives update to version 2.0.11 with support for iOS & iPadOS 14.5

Following the launch of checkra1n version 0.12.3, which added official support for A7 and A11 devices running iOS & iPadOS 14.5, Saurik was quick to update Cydia Substrate so that those devices could enjoy reliable tweak injection.

But Cydia Substrate isn’t the only tweak injection method that works on the checkra1n jailbreak. So too does Substitute, and users of this alternative will likely be looking for a similar update. Fortunately for those folks, said update is now available in the form of Substitute version 2.0.11.

How to get Sileo on your checkra1n or unc0ver jailbreak (the right way)

Sileo and Cydia icons.

The fabled Sileo package manager, which was once endemic to jailbreaks such as Chimera, Odyssey, and Taurine, is now officially available for all modern jailbreak solutions, including the likes of checkra1n and unc0ver, without the requirement of installing the Odysseyra1n script or the Procursus bootstrap.

Given just how frequently we’re asked how to get the Sileo package manager alongside Cydia on checkra1n or unc0ver without unwanted hacks or substantial jailbreak-changing commitments, we decided to take this unique opportunity to show you how to use the new Sileo installer for the checkra1n and unc0ver jailbreaks.

Sileo now officially available on all jailbreaks that use the Bingner/Elucubratus bootstrap

The Sileo package manager has long carried the stigma of being exclusive to specific jailbreaks – namely those created by CoolStar-led development teams such as Chimera for iOS 12, Odyssey for iOS & iPadOS 13, and Taurine for iOS & iPadOS 14.

Third-party ports to permit Cydia and Sileo on the same device have always existed, such as the now legacy Diatrus installer and the more recent Bingner installer. The Oydssey Team even went as far as to create an Odysseyra1n script that could turn a checkra1n’d handset into a quasi-Odyssey device with the procursus bootstrap and the Sileo package manager; the latter was especially popular given the length of time it took for an inclusive iOS & iPadOS 14 jailbreak to surface.

Unc0ver jailbreak updated to v6.1.2 with several bug fixes and notable new features

Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak was the first semi-untethered tool to add support for iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3 back in February, but recent attention shifted to the Odyssey Team’s Taurine jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3 given that it just launched last week.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Pwn20wnd from cranking out regular revisions to unc0ver. Just this evening, the unc0ver jailbreak received an update to version 6.1.2 with a number of new stability improvements and a shiny new safety feature that jailbreakers may find helpful.

Alt5tore simplifies the process of updating unc0ver directly from the AltStore app

If like so many other jailbreakers out there, you depend on the unc0ver tool to keep your iPhone or iPad pwned, then we’ve got some good news for you – especially if you take advantage of AltStore to install unc0ver on your device.

As many AltStore users already know, the app hosts download links to some of Riley Testut’s software, including the Delta emulator app for various Nintendo-centric systems and the Clip clipboard manager. Both can both be installed with the tap of a button directly from the AltStore app as long as you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network as AltServer on your computer.

Substitute updated to version 2.0.10 with more bug fixes

Substitute, the tweak injection method used by the unc0ver jailbreak (and optionally on checkra1n devices), received an update this week that officially brought the package up to version 2.0.10.

Much like the previous update that launched around a month ago, Substitute version 2.0.10 brings bug fixes to improve the package’s performance and stability.

ReProvision Reborn breathes new life into the discontinued on-device app provisioning software

Many jailbreakers were saddened when developer Matt Clarke reaffirmed that the ReProvision on-device app signing service that many used to keep their jailbreak apps signed without a computer wouldn’t receive any further official updates; not even to fix the post-January 28th app-crashing issue triggered by a server-side change on Apple’s behalf. It was henceforth officially EOL (end of life).

Riley Testut’s AltServer and AltStore combo offered a viable alternative to ReProvision, however it too was impacted by the same issue. The only difference? AltServer and AltStore received updates to address Apple’s server-side changes so that the end user wouldn’t suffer app crashes, while ReProvision did not. On the other hand, a third-party band-aid was later made available for ReProvision users.

How to get Sileo on your checkra1n or unc0ver device alongside Cydia (obsolete method)

Sileo and Cydia icons.

When you jailbreak your iPhone or iPad with checkra1n or unc0ver, the tool automatically installs the tried-and-true Cydia package manager by default. What you decide to do or install from that point on is up to you, whether you choose to install Zebra, Installer, or even Sileo. That’s right… we said it.

Sileo has long been thought of as a proprietary package manager for CoolStar’s jailbreaks such as Chimera and Odyssey. But now that Sileo is officially open source, it’s likely that we’ll see a lot more happening with Sileo in the foreseeable future. One such example would be Sam Bingner's Sileo fork, which makes installing the Sileo package manager on unsupported jailbreaks incredibly easy.

This tweak fixes SMS-based one time password auto-fill after jailbreaking with unc0ver or checkra1n

If you just recently jailbroke your iPhone or iPad with the unc0ver or checkra1n jailbreaks, and you noticed that certain native features of your handset’s keyboard have stopped working as expected, then we’ve got some good news for you!

iOS developer Baw Apple has just released a new and free jailbreak tweak called u0SMSCompleteFix that apparently resolves these issues after jailbreaking these particular versions of iOS or iPadOS.

Unc0ver jailbreak updated to version 6.1.1 with additional bug fixes and improvements for iOS 14

Ever since the unc0ver jailbreak added support for iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3, the tool has received a steady stream of updates from lead developer Pwn20wnd with various bug fixes and performance improvements to improve the performance and stability of the jailbreak experience overall.

While unc0ver v6.1.0 was recently released to resolve all known issues with its iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3 support, it seems that more room for improvement was discovered following that release, as the tool was just updated again to version 6.1.1 this afternoon.

Pwn20wnd updates unc0ver jailbreak to v6.1.0, fixing all known issues on iOS 14

The unc0ver jailbreak has received a number of updates since initially picking up support for iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3 at the end of last month, with each update squashing more and more bugs to make the jailbreak more stable and performant.

As it would seem, today is no different. The unc0ver jailbreak was updated to version 6.1.0 this Thursday evening with further improvements targeting newfangled users running iOS & iPadOS 14.
