‘WeeToolbox’ adds 5 free functions to Notification Center

Perhaps it's just me, but it seems like awesome free jailbreak tweaks are more of the exception than the norm these days. For that reason, it's always refreshing to see a good tweak that's free, as is the case with WeeToolbox.

WeeToolbox adds five different functions — Tweet, Dial, Flashlight, Pastie, and Camera — to Notification Center, and it's completely free...

Twitter updates its iPhone app to bring back much wanted features

Twitter today updated its iPhone app, adding new features and more importantly returning old ones to their former glories.

The release, bringing the version number up to 4.1, adds improvements such as better Direct Message handling and improved image quality, but without doubt the two most important features aren't new at all - Twitter has now returned swipe shortcuts and the ability to copy text to its iPhone app.

Both features were removed in a recent app update, much to the annoyance of the app's users and causing many to jump ship to third-party alternatives such as Tweetbot which recently reached a milestone of its own...

TweetLine: use Siri to pull up tweets from your Twitter timeline

When iOS 5 launched last Fall, we figured that the Notification Center would become the new hot bed for jailbreak tweaks. But it seems like Siri has also become a popular choice among developers.

The latest package to surface in Cydia that adds functionality to the digital assistant is TweetLine. The tweak allows you to use Siri to call up the 5 most recent tweets from your Twitter timeline...

Tweetbot for iPad Now Available

Following the release of the new Tweetbot version 2.0 earlier today, the Tweetbot team has just released Tweetbot for iPad, now available on the iTunes App Store. The new iPad version includes many of Tweetbot for iPhone's new features, and also features new iPad specific gestures.

Tweetbot for iPad sports the following features:

Tweetbot Updated to Version 2.0

I find Tweetbot to be "over designed," meaning its user interface it's too heavy for my eyes. I hear it's still people's favorite Twitter app for iPhone though, so they must definitely be doing something right.

Today, Tweetbot was updated to version 2.0, bringing the following new features:

QuickTweet: Compose Tweets Directly from Notification Center

There are already tons of different ways you can invoke the Twitter panel in iOS 5, and this is just one of the latest methods for doing so.

QuickTweet is a Notification Center shortcut for iOS 5 that places a quick link to the compose tweet function in the bottom left-hand corner. This could be the perfect companion to IntelliScreenX's built-in Messages+ SMS shortcut, because it's situated directly across from it...

Sireet Let’s You Tweet Using Siri

[tube]miRJs1Q81G4[/tube]

Earlier today we told you about an upcoming tweak that would let you send tweets using Siri. At the time, we didn't know the name of this tweak or when it would be available for download.

It appears that Sireet, as it is called, is now available for download from the MMI repo for free...

Upcoming Jailbreak Tweak Lets You Tweet With Siri

It was only a matter of time, but the inevitable has finally happened. Even though you could already use this workaround to send status updates to Twitter using Siri, you can now tweet with Siri courtesy of an upcoming jailbreak tweak.

The yet to be named tweak is making its way around the blogosphere, and should be released to the public in the very near future.

We're pretty impressed by how accurate tweeting with Siri actually is, but that should be expected since Siri is very precise when it comes to dictation.

MissionControl: A Menu Based Multitask Switcher

Not to be confused with the Mission Control that's standard on all OS X Lion builds, MissionControl is a Cydia tweak that adds menu based multitasking to the iPhone.

Using Activator as a means to invoke the menu, MissionControl is a simple alternative for those who want lots of predefined options in an organized menu.

This free tweak contains quick links to Cydia, Twitter, Facebook, Wi-Fi settings, and more...

OpenSiri: Launch Apps Natively Using Siri

Didn't we tell you? The floodgates are opening for Siri tweaks now that the iPhone 4S jailbreak is available.

OpenSiri is among the Siri tweak freshman class, and it allows you to launch stock Apple apps, plus Facebook and Twitter apps using nothing but your voice.

Check out our hands-on video of OpenSiri in action...

What Twitter Got Right and Wrong With Its New iPhone App

Twitter is the social network of choice for many an iPhone user, and it is particularly near and dear to our hearts here at iDownloadBlog. The popularity Twitter has in the world of iOS is perhaps the main reason that the latest update to the company's app has been so controversial.

Some users of the official Twitter app for the iPhone and iPod touch (the iPad app has not been redesigned just yet) clearly appreciate the changes that Twitter has made to the interface, while others hate it so much that they have sought out other, 3rd-party apps.

Three weeks after Twitter made these big changes to its flagship iOS app, how is one of iDB's biggest Twitter users, namely moi, finding life with the much-changed, much-maligned Twitter 4.0? That's a very, very good question...
