Iconfactory posts teaser for upcoming Twitterrific 5 release

Good news Twitterrific fans, Iconfactory has just published a teaser page for the upcoming 5.0 release of its popular Twitter client. The app, which has collected a number of accolades over the years (including an Apple Design Award), has not seen a major update since early 2011. So needless to say, expectations are high...

How to add Facebook, Twitter, and more search options to Spotlight

The awkwardly named SLightEnhancerSearch, is a recently released jailbreak tweak that adds a ton of new search options to the stock Spotlight search on iOS. When it was first released, I ran into many issues with the tweak, namely, the search options not showing up on the Spotlight page when enabled.

The tweak was updated today, and the developer seems to have stamped out all of the bugs that plagued the initial release. SLightEnhancerSearch, as silly as its name may be, is a quality jailbreak tweak that many will no doubt find useful...

Good news: Tweetbot for Mac is out. Bad news: it costs $20

TapBots' beloved Twitter client Tweetbot has finally arrived for the Mac, following an extensive period of beta testing since July. The bad news is, it will run you a whopping twenty bucks a pop! It's not that developers have become greedy overnight, mind you. As you know, Twitter has capped their user base in a quest to exercise total control of third-party programs.

Twitter is doing so by enforcing token limits upon third-party developers. Tokens determine how many users an app like Tweetbot for Mac can have. As a result, developers get to only sell the app until they use up all the tokens Twitter allocated.

That's the official line. Some people think it's crap, others point the finger of blame at Twitter. You could call it economics, I guess. No matter how you look at it, Tweetbot for Mac - at least to my knowledge - has officially become the priciest Twitter client on the Mac App Store...

Netbot is like Tweetbot, but for App.net

Netbot, an App.net client for iOS users, and the sister client to the popular Tweetbot, has been unleashed on the App Store.

Just in case you weren't aware, Twitter has been making some changes as of late, and it's safe to say that they have't been very popular among the tech community. As a result, a few alternative services to Twitter have emerged, and one of those is App.net.

Though there are some key differences between it and Twitter's methodology, both from a technical level and a company level, the services are similar enough that it's entirely possible to confuse NetBot with Tweetbot at first glance.

Twitter enables web uploads on mobile site from iOS 6 and Android ICS devices

One of the cool enhancements in iOS 6 Safari is its broader support for standard HTML elements, including a regular HTML input element used on literally all sites requiring media uploading capability.

This support for media uploads lets Safari understand the standard Upload button that invokes a file picker on your desktop and replace it with standard iOS media picker.

Up until now, you could only test this on certain web sites, like the desktop Facebook interface in mobile Safari. Today, Twitter enabled on its mobile site photo uploads from a browser on iOS 6 and Android Ice Cream Sandwich devices, here's how it works...

New report offers more information about Apple-Twitter talks

Last week, news broke that Apple had, at one point, been in talks with Twitter over a massive investment in the social network. The report described the move as a "strategic investment" believed to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Initially, it was believed that these negotiations had taken place in recent months. But a rebuttal by The Wall Street Journal claimed that it's been more than a year since this happened. And today, The WSJ is back with more information...
