Sileo Beta v1.3.6 now available with improved native depiction support

The Sileo Team surprised us all on Wednesday with a new beta iteration of the package manager that gets installed by default on iOS 11 and 12 devices liberated with the Electra Team’s Chimera and Electra jailbreaks.

Citing the Sileo Team’s announcement, shared via Twitter several minutes ago, Sileo Beta v1.3.6 simplifies the process of converting webview-based jailbreak tweak depictions to native depictions.

Sileo v1.3.5 released with fix for endless repository refresh bug

The Sileo Team launched an updated version of the Sileo package manager for the iOS 11-centric Electra jailbreak and the iOS 12-centric Chimera jailbreak Sunday evening, officially bringing the proprietary package manager up to version 1.3.5.

The Sileo Team announced the update via Twitter just within the past hour, noting that it would resolve an issue with repositories refreshing endlessly:

Sileo v1.2.5 released to address more repository issues

Two more consecutive updates were released for Sileo Saturday afternoon, officially bringing the Chimera and Electra-centric package manager up to version 1.2.5. The same update is also available as a Demo for non-jailbroken handsets.

The Sileo Team announced Sileo versions 1.2.4 and 1.2.5 via Twitter just hours ago, with each update further addressing repository issues that were introduced in a previous update:

Sileo Demo updated to v1.2.0 with rewritten repository manager

Sileo is the exclusive package manager for handsets that have been pwned with the Electra Team’s Chimera or Electra jailbreaks, but non-jailbroken devices can deploy a special build of Sileo for testing and repository-browsing purposes.

On Friday, the Sileo Team issued a revised iteration of the Sileo Demo for non-jailbroken devices, bringing it up to version 1.2.0:

How to add the BigBoss repository to Sileo

In case you missed it, @0ptimo has officially implemented SHA256 for the BigBoss repository, paving the way for full Sileo support. CoolStar has announced that an upcoming Sileo update will implement the official BigBoss repository out of the box, but why wait?

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how you can add the official BigBoss repository to your Sileo package manager right now.

BigBoss repository now uses SHA256, paving the way for Sileo support

In an unexpected turn of events this weekend, @0ptimo added official SHA256 support to the BigBoss repository, a move that looks to appease the Sileo Team as an increasing number of people use the Electra Team’s Chimera jailbreak to take advantage of the full-fledged A12(X) support in the here and now.

Sileo Team lead developer CoolStar acknowledged the change just this evening via Twitter, noting that an upcoming update for the Sileo package manager will implement native support for the newly-upgraded BigBoss repository:

Addsource makes adding repositories to Cydia easier

Handsets jailbroken with Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver tool will have Cydia installed as the default package manager, and with a newly-released free jailbreak tweak dubbed addsource by iOS developers yuosaf01 and 3bod_syr, you can augment the app’s native repository-adding functionality.

With any typical Cydia installation, users will need to enter a repository’s URL manually by tapping on the ‘Add’ button in the app’s Sources tab. This method works, but it tends to be cumbersome and exposes users to an increased likelihood of human error while typing the designated repository URL.

Sileo to remove support for webview-based depictions by December 2019

The Cydia vs. Sileo debate rages on, especially as there are now two competing jailbreaks for iOS 12 in addition to iOS 11 – the Electra Team’s Chimera jailbreak and Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak.

While Chimera is the only jailbreak to offer full-fledged support for A12(X) devices out of the box, with unc0ver only ‘partially’ supporting A12(X) at the time of this writing, one significant caveat for many jailbreakers is that Chimera installs Sileo as the default package manager instead of Cydia.

Sileo Team releases Sileo 1.0 to the public for Chimera and Electra jailbreaks

Many A12(X) device owners who’ve held off on iOS 12.0-12.1.2 are hopping with joy right about now after the release of the Electra Team’s Chimera jailbreak, but one small detail that can be easily overlooked amid this significant news is that the Sileo Team has officially released Sileo 1.0 to the general public.

As you might come to expect from the new version number, Sileo 1.0 is no longer considered a beta, but rather an official release build. The Sileo Team eagerly announced the new version Monday night via Twitter, shortly after the Chimera jailbreak was released:

Add a fresh coat of paint to Control Center with Magma

If you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad in your possession and you haven’t yet started colorizing the user interface to stand out from all the other handsets out there, then you’re doing yourself an injustice.

Fortunately, a new free jailbreak tweak called Magma by iOS developer NoisyFlake can help you with this endeavor, as it lets you apply custom colors to the plethora of toggles and shortcuts that you use via the Control Center interface, as shown above.
