One of the things you’ll notice when listening to Apple Music is that upon pausing media playback, the album artwork shrinks slightly until you tap on the play button.
Some like this effect and others don’t, but if you identify as someone in the latter group, then DontShrinkMyAlbumArt is a new and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Henryli17 that just might pique your interest.
Apple’s Music app was designed specifically for housing music-related content. This includes streaming via Apple Music and playing from your locally-stored Music Library.
But according to iOS developer Daniel, there’s more to the modern day Music app than meets the eye. This much becomes evident when looking at his newly released and free ShowMeTV jailbreak tweak.
There are often times when I’m forced to turn my iPhone’s media playback volume down so I can hear someone as they’re talking to me. But even with my volume turned all the way down, my media playback continues without an audience.
It’s odd that iOS and iPadOS haven’t adopted a user-friendly feature to auto-pause media playback when the volume is turned all the way down, especially since you wouldn’t even be able to hear it. While it wouldn’t be necessary for video playback, it would certainly be useful for music.
Many media streaming apps like Spotify provide a like button so that you can tell the app you like what you hear. The app then tries to curate playback based on the feedback you give it.
I enjoy the ability to enhance music playback in this way, as it helps with artist discovery. But it frustrates me that you need to physically be in the Spotify app to like a song, which calls for a multitasking and gesture shenanigans even when you’re trying to get something done in another app.
At long last, Spotify is refreshing its app for the Apple Watch with a new feature allowing you to download your favorite songs, playlists and podcasts to the device for offline listening.

Amazon Music is reducing the price of its high-fidelity audio service just as Apple announced today that it's bringing lossless audio to Apple Music subscribers at no extra charge.

According to Billboard, the high-fidelity service is now available to all Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers at no additional cost. Before the change, Amazon Music HD was a $14.99 per month value, or $12.99 per month for Prime members.

The service brings more than 70 million songs in CD quality (16 bit at 44.1 kHz). Out of that number, some seven million tracks are available in ultra HD quality which exceeds CD quality (24 bit at 48kHz, 96 kHz and 192 kHz). Apple Music also offers a hi-resolution Lossless tier all the way up to 24 bit at 192 kHz.

HD streaming is also offered by the likes of Deezer and Tidal, with Tidal continuing to charge $19.99 per month for the service. Spotify is apparently working on a similar offering of its own.
Apple has worked with artists to record tracks in Dolby Atmos with spatial audio. Apple's offering will be ready for public consumption next month, with thousands of spatial audio tracks available at launch and more to come later.
