Rdio for iOS gets a major facelift, new features

If you stream your music these days rather than spend your hard-earned cash on individual tracks on iTunes, you're likely using Spotify, Pandora or Rdio. The latter music subscription service is available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and New Zealand. The team just pushed a major update to their iOS and Android clients.

The software finally brings a unified interface across mobile platforms and the web, ditching the old grid-based navigation and replacing it with a consistently available sidebar that we're increasingly seeing in other apps like Path and Facebook. Rdio 2.0 also brings new features such as remote control, flawless queue syncing across platforms and more...

Apple to artists: iTunes 11 ‘is about to be released within the next days’

Last we heard, Apple delayed iTunes 11 until end of November because the team needs more time "to get it right". With nine days until the deadline, Apple has now emailed record labels and artists, asking them to upload pictures and galleries of their artists to iTunes for use in the new Music Store layout that will debut with iTunes 11. The company specifically warned content owners that iTunes 11 "is about to be released within the next days", indicating it's about to hit the deadline...

Algoriddim launched Vjay for the iPad back in June. The videoscratching program impressed us with Retina graphics, support for external hardware such as Griffin’s DJ cable or Numark’s iDJ Live controller, wireless AirPlay streaming and on-the-fly mixes that really take advantage of the iPad's GPU.

If you liked the iPad version, you'll be delighted to know that Vjay is now available on your iPhone and iPod touch as well. The software is remarkably snappy and powerful. By the way, Algoriddim's even more stunning app for DJs is temporarily free on the iPhone (it normally costs ten bucks) so make sure to download it if you haven't already.

I'd bet my shirt that just a few years back you'd never thought a cell phone in your pocket would double as your video mixing machine, letting you mix and scratch your iTunes music videos or compose your own mash ups by combining songs and video from your library in glorious 1080p, at thirty frames per second...

Browser-based Spotify music player in beta rolling out today

I've always loved iTunes, but I must admit that nearly all of my music discovery, purchasing and sharing is on Spotify these days. Why pay ten bucks for a whole album when Spotify provides unlimited access to its 20+ million-strong catalogue for $9.99 a month?

Spotify subscribers have enjoyed both the official desktop and iOS apps, the latter recently updated with support for the iPhone 5. Word on the street is that Spotify is due to launch a beta of its upcoming browser-based music player later today.

The web application will allow people to access and stream their cloud music from supposedly any device with an HTML5-compliant browser, like Safari on iOS and OS X...
