How to jailbreak iOS 7 using evasi0n7 [Mac tutorial]

As we just told you, the evad3rs have released a new jailbreak tool called evasi0n7, and it allows you to easily jailbreak iOS 7. The good news is that the hack works with all flavors of iOS 7, which includes iOS 7.0.1, iOS 7.0.2, iOS 7.0.3, 7.0.4, 7.0.5, and 7.0.6. (no jailbreak for iOS 7.1 at this time).

As usual, the evad3rs have made the utility fairly easy to use. But also as usual, we know there will be folks out there looking for a bit of help using it. So we’ve created an easy-to-follow tutorial to show you how to jailbreak iOS 7 on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch...

Evad3rs release untethered iOS 7 jailbreak

In a move that I think caught all of us way off-guard, the evad3rs have just released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7. The team is calling the hack evasi0n7, and it's compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4.

Folks with devices jailbroken on iOS 6.1.x are now free to update to iOS 7 without losing their JB. But if you just absolutely can't stand the new operating system, it sounds like a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3/4/5 will be released in the near future. More details after the fold...

iH8sn0w and winocm show off iOS 6.1.x jailbreak

Hackers winocm and iH8sn0w posted an interesting video last night, demonstrating what appeared to be a working untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.x. The clip shows a 5th gen iPod touch on iOS 6.1.3 navigating Cydia and running Surenix's popular ayecon theme.

The move puts an end to the radio silence we've been experiencing since early October, when winocm gave a definite ETA for the iOS 6.1.x jailbreak as 'before 2014.' But don't get your hopes up. It still doesn't look like it's going to be released publicly anytime soon...

Pod2g denies claims that jailbreak was stolen from evad3rs

If you've noticed a shortage of jailbreak news on iDB lately, that's simply because there hasn't been any to give. While the evad3rs are hard at work hacking iOS 7, we've heard little about their progress since planetbeing's 'all the pieces' tweet in October.

This changed, though, last week, when reports began surfacing that someone close to the group had stolen a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer. But evad3rs member pod2g has denied the claim, and says the iOS 7 JB is progressing slowly...

New website solicits crowdfunded reward for an iOS 7 jailbreak

Is iOS 7 jailbroken yet? No. But if you're the one who can turn that answer into a yes, there's a growing bounty of crowdfunded dollars awaiting you. That's the idea behind isios7jailbrokenyet.com—a site where people can go to donate money to fund an open source jailbreak for iOS 7.

The venture has generated over $2000 at the time of this post, and it uses Stripe to accept donations from those eager to free their devices from Apple's constraints. The prize money will go to the first developer(s) who release an open source iOS 7 jailbreak. As you might expect, there are quite a few stipulations involved in order to be eligible to win. Have a look past the break for the details.

Improve Do Not Disturb with ‘DNDPro’

DNDPro is a new jailbreak tweak from dba Technologies. It serves to improve iOS's native Do Not Disturb capabilities by letting you control notifications while using certain apps.

DNDPro offers more granular control than the stock Do Not Disturb functionality. You can decided to disable all alerts while within a specific app, or only let banner notifications through.

If you like Do Not Disturb, but don't feel like it caters enough to power users, DNDPro is a tweak that should pique your interest. Have a look inside as we break down its features.

MultiShortcut: add handy shortcuts to various areas of the stock Settings app

If you've been able to resist the draw of iOS 7 and maintain a jailbroken device on iOS 6 or below, you are to be commended. As a reward for you dedication, you get to try out jailbreak tweaks while everyone else has to wait until an iOS 7 jailbreak.

One such tweak, a recent release dubbed MultiShortcut, allows users to quickly access specific sections of the Stock settings app. This is done by tapping and holding on the Settings app icon. Instead of invoking wiggle mode like normal, you're greeted with a sheet providing links to a variety of areas found inside the Stock settings app.

Leaked document shows White House in favor of banning unlocking, jailbreaking

The last we heard, things were looking good in the fight to reform out-of-date policies on device unlocking here in the US. Last week, the FCC chairman sent a letter to the CTIA saying he'd like to see changes made before the holidays. But don't get your hopes up just yet.

According to information recently leaked by WikiLeaks, the White House—despite publicly supporting unlocking—has been secretly negotiating a treaty with other countries and special interest lobbyists that would make this and other processes illegal by international law...

This new jailbreak tweak lets you easily toggle alarm clocks on or off

AlarmControl is a recently released jailbreak tweak that's perfect for those of you who use multiple alarm clocks. I use a few alarms when there's something extremely important that I have to wake up for, such as a new iPhone or iPad release. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous, but that's the truth of the matter.

At any rate, this new jailbreak tweak allows you to disable or enable all of the alarm clocks configured in the stock Clock app. Have a look inside at our video walkthrough to see how easy it is to use.

iOS 7.0.4 is jailbreak safe

Following this morning's release of iOS 7.0.4, we've been getting many questions regarding the safety of updating to the latest software version for those who are hoping to be able to jailbreak their device one day.

The good news is that it is completely safe to update to iOS 7.0.4 as it will not hinder your chances to jailbreak, should we ever get a jailbreak for iOS 7...

MultiLS: Place Lock screen notifications on a hidden page

MultiLS is a brand new jailbreak tweak that just appeared on Cydia's BigBoss repo. The tweak, which is a $0.99 purchase, allows its users to hide the notifications that would normally appear on the Lock screen.

An iOS 6 only tweak, MultiLS completely moves the entire Lock screen notification list off of the primary Lock screen. When you receive a new message while on the Lock screen, MultiLS will display a pulsating blue bar on the right-hand side of the screen. This glowing bar lets users know when new Lock screen notifications have arrived.

We've taken the initiative to create a video walkthrough showcasing MultiLS in action. Have a look inside for all of the details.

How to add burst mode to the stock camera app in iOS 6

A recently released jailbreak tweak, called Burst Mode, allows users to continuously take photos with iOS 6's stock Camera app. It's not as feature rich as the burst mode found in iOS 7 for the 5s, but it's a nice compromise for jailbroken iOS 6 users.

Burst Mode allows you to take as many photos as you want using a simple tap and hold on the shutter button, or a press and hold on your iOS device's physical volume button. Along with its burst mode capabilities, the tweak features a nice array of bonus features to take advantage of as well. Have a look inside as we look at what makes this free jailbreak tweak tick.
