Apple Watch UI tweak Aeternum now available in Cydia

Aeternum, a jailbreak tweak that mimics the Apple Watch UI on iPhone is now available for download in Cydia. Developed by SpiritOfLogic, Aeternum has received Jeff's praises as he called it the best looking and best functioning Apple Watch UI-inspired tweak so far.

As highlighted in our recent preview, Aeternum comes with features you might expect from such a tweak. More specifically, it allows you to disable or enable the dock, and rearrange icons to your liking. But maybe more importantly, the tweak uses clean and smooth in and out animations when launching apps.

How to unlock Apple’s hidden battery usage menu in iOS 8

Developer Hamza Sood, well-known for his innate ability to uncover hidden items in iOS, has discovered another hidden feature, and created a tweak out of it. Dubbed DetailedBatteryUsage, this new tweak allows you to unlock the hidden battery usage menu that Apple uses internally during development.

IntelliScreenX 8 teaser

Mario Ciabarra, the man behind IntelliScreenX among others, recently tweeted a photo of an iPhone 6 running ISX8, an updated version of the feature-rich tweak compatible with Apple's latest mobile operating system. While there is no specific ETA for ISX8 to hit Cydia, it appears that the tweak is in late development stage and could potentially be available sooner than later.

MyReachability: reach all four corners of an app by mating the accelerometer with Reachability

MyReachability is the first compelling tweak that I've seen thus far involving Reachability. I don't want to sound hyperbolic, but this could be a game changing tweak with a little bit of TLC.

MyReachability is from Korean developer Shine, the first such tweak I've seen of his, but hopefully not the last. That's because what I found was something extremely impressive, innovative and practical.

MyReachability allows you to access various areas of an app via Reachability by tilting your device. It taps into the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus' accelerometer to do this, and it makes accessing most areas of an app with one hand feasible.

Check out my video walkthrough of MyReachability after the break, and see why this new jailbreak tweak has me so excited.

30 new and updated jailbreak tweaks worth checking out

With the release of the Pangu jailbreak for both Windows and Mac users, developers have been busy updating their tweaks for iOS 8 and iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, but also releasing new tweaks featuring new features.

Admittedly, we haven't been on top of our game covering all these new updates and releases. The sheer volume of these tweaks makes it very hard to have a proper look at everything that us being pushed to Cydia, but we don't want you to be left out either, so we've compiled a list of tweaks that were recently released or updated.

There are probably some tweaks missing, because again, it's really hard to keep track of everything that makes its way to Cydia, but that should give you a good starting point if you're looking for tweaks to add to your arsenal.

Springtomize 3 goes live on Cydia for iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus [video]

Finally, a reason to jailbreak for many users. Filippo Bigarella's Springtomize 3 (version 1.3) has gone live in the Cydia store as a free update ($2.99 new) for users who purchased the iOS 7 version.

Springtomize 3 brings tons of customization options to the iOS SpringBoard. Its name is literally the combination of the two words: SpringBoard + Customize = Springtomize. Head over to Cydia's BigBoss repo to download it now.

How to add pull-to-refresh to Safari in iOS 8

For a large screen device like the iPhone 6 Plus or even the iPhone 6, it takes some serious thought when designing apps. That's because it's much more difficult to reach certain part of the screen using one hand, so developers have to design their apps with one-handed users in mind.

But where such thought may be lacking, a jailbreak tweak can go a long way towards enhancing the usability of certain apps. That's definitely the case with this latest tweak called SafariRefresh. It adds a simple pull-to-refresh mechanism to Apple's stock web browsing app, and the result is a much more usable refresh function on large screen devices.

How to jailbreak iOS 8.1 with Pangu for Mac [video]

The Pangu Team released their Pangu utility for Mac earlier today, so Mac users who were waiting for compatibility with their operating system have no excuse to not jailbreak any longer.

In this post, we will show you how to use Pangu for Mac to jailbreak iOS 8.1. This post was created for an iPhone, but note that the steps are exactly identical, no matter what device you want to jailbreak (ie. an iPad or iPod touch). Likewise, any iOS 8 firmware version can be jailbroken using this tool, including iOS 8, and iOS 8.0.2.

Pangu for Mac jailbreak for iOS 8 now available

The Pangu Team has finally released Pangu for Mac, a utility to jailbreak iOS 8 to iOS 8.1 devices on Mac today. The tool comes roughly two weeks after the release of the Windows version of the tool.

The Pangu jailbreak utility has had its fair share of problems since it was released on October 22 but it's now stable enough to be given the green light by no less than saurik, the man behind the Cydia installer.

DoubleCheck helps you avoid sending text messages to the wrong person

Have you ever inadvertently sent a text message to the wrong recipient? I think we all have. Frankly, it's a good way to encounter a mild disaster if you're not careful.

To help prevent yourself from acquiring foot-in-mouth disease, there's a free new jailbreak tweak called DoubleCheck that you should take a look at. DoubleCheck places the recipient of a text message in the text input field, giving you a means to "double check" the recipient before sending the message.

Want to see how DoubleCheck works in action? Have a look at our video demonstration after the break.

LockGlyph: unlock Touch ID enabled devices using the Apple Pay animation

LockGlyph is a brand new tweak available on the Cydia store that brings the Apple Pay confirmation animation to the Lock screen. If you own a Touch ID enabled device like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6 Plus, you can unlock your device using fingerprint authentication, and enjoy a nice Apple Pay-inspired animation and sound during the process.

I've taken a spin with LockGlyph on video. Check inside to see some of the tweak's pluses and minuses.

The EFF files petition with Copyright Office to keep jailbreaking legal

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (or EFF) is once again fighting to keep the practice of jailbreaking legal. The non-profit digital rights group announced this week that it has filed a petition with the Librarian of Congress and the Copyright Office to extend and expand the exemption that allows you to jailbreak your phone, without violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Because the software on mobile phones and tablets is copyrighted, the act of jailbreaking (and rooting on Android devices) is technically forbidden by the DMCA. But Congress created a procedure to allow for exemptions on activities where users make fair use of copyrighted works, reviewed every three years. The last exemption for jailbreaking was awarded in 2012, so it's set to expire soon.
