WeatherBoard brings amazing weather effects to the Home screen and Lock screen

WeatherBoard, one of the biggest brand new tweaks that we've seen hit iOS 8 thus far, is now available for purchase on Cydia's BigBoss repo for $2.49. It's an awesome release that brings impressive weather effects to the iPhone's Home screen and Lock screen.

WeatherBoard allows you to use custom weather related Wallpapers (over 80 of them) along with weather overlays that can use your existing wallpaper. The tweak is even capable of providing weather effects based on what's happening in a specific location. Have a look at our video walkthrough after the break to see WeatherBoard in action.

Apple credits Pangu team for discovering vulnerabilities patched in iOS 8.1.1

Apple has posted a support page on the security content of the just-released iOS 8.1.1, reaffirming previous reports that the firmware breaks the Pangu jailbreak tool. In the page, the company credits the Pangu team for discovering three vulnerabilities patched in 8.1.1.

Among those vulnerabilities was a state management issue in the dyld directory, which has to do with app launches. There was also a validation issue in the handling of metadata fields with the kernel, and a sandbox profile bug that allowed apps to launch arbitrary binaries.

Apple is still signing iOS 8.1, if you’re interested in jailbreaking, you better restore now

Apple just released iOS 8.1.1, which kills the Pangu jailbreak. The good news is that it is (as of the writing of this post) still signing iOS 8.1. This means that you can still install iOS 8.1 and jailbreak for the time being.

But you better act fast. Apple has been very unpredictable when it comes to closing its signing windows. Once the window for iOS 8.1 is closed, you will not be able to upgrade or downgrade to iOS 8.1. You'll have to go directly to iOS 8.1.1, which renders your device unjailbreakable.

Substrate Safe Mode updated to fix CPU usage issues

Substrate Safe Mode, the package that allows jailbreakers to safely boot into Safe Mode and remove uncooperative packages, has been updated to version 0.9.5000. The update, which was pushed by Saurik just recently, fixes a fairly significant issue related to CPU usage.

Safe Mode works similar to the Safe Mode on desktop machines, as it allows you to boot without loading certain extensions, allowing you to troubleshoot problem extensions. Have a look inside for more details.

A roundup of new and updated jailbreak tweaks for iOS 8

We've now been had a jailbreak for iOS 8 for several weeks and while while not all tweaks have been updated yet for Apple's latest mobile software, many of them already have. Even better, we've started to see some brand new jailbreak tweaks, some of them even taking advantage of the new software and hardware features found in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

While developers still have plenty of work to do updating their old tweaks, we can already enjoy many of them. If you're not sure what's new and what's been updated in Cydia recently, we have a roundup that should bring you up to speed.

Apex 2 updated to support iOS 8.1

Several well-loved tweaks from the jailbreak community have been receiving their iOS 8 updates over the past several weeks, the latest of which being Apex 2. This popular tweak by A3Tweaks allows users to create app stacks, which work similarly to folders and can be used to group similar apps in an attractive bundle.

Apex 2 is a great way to eliminate folders on the Home screen and replace them with stacks of up to five total apps. Check out Jeff's review of Apex 2 for a look at the features of Apex 2.

Remove the dock on your iPhone’s Home screen with Abeo

One of the useful features of iOS is definitely the dock, where you can place your four favorite apps to access them quickly, no matter which page of the Home screen you're on. If you ever wished to get rid of the dock, you should definitely check out a solid new tweak called Abeo.

The tweak has just one purpose and it does it nicely. With Abeo, you'll have the ability to hide the dock on your iPhone's Home screen leaving space for other icons to fill in. The tweak doesn't add a new row of icons, but rather increases the spacing between adjacent rows of icons to accommodate the empty space.

AppHeads: an upcoming tweak that reinvents iOS multitasking

iOS multitasking remained relatively untouched for the first several years of its existence, and although iOS 7 revamped its UI, it still maintained the core idea of using one app at a time. AppHeads is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that will reinvent iOS multitasking for some and, at the very least, greatly enhance it for others.

If you're familiar with Facebook Messenger, you probably already have an idea of what the interface of AppHeads will look like. It uses the same round icons as Facebook Messenger, but instead of juggling conversation threads and friends' faces, AppHeads uses these bubbles to manage running applications. You can watch this tweak in action in the video below.

IntelliScreenX for iOS 8 is live now, here’s our full video walkthrough

Get ready for IntelliScreenX for iOS 8 to touch down any minute now! The update, which is being released as an open beta, is scheduled to appear on Cydia's ModMyi repo sometime tonight. If you're somehow unfamiliar with IntelliScreenX, it's a tweak that allows you to supercharge your Notification Center. It brings the ability to add Twitter, RSS, Mail, Facebook, and more to the Notification Center, and features Lock screen access as well.

IntelliScreenX is by far one of the deepest jailbreak tweaks of all time, and it's the reason why a lot of people jailbreak. We've been able to go hands-on with a copy of the IntelliScreenX for iOS 8, and have tested it on a jailbroken iPhone 6 Plus.

Intelliborn has been working hard to prepare ISX for iOS 8 and for the new iPhones, and their hard work has paid off. Have a look at our full 12+ minute video walkthrough inside for the details on why this tweak remains such a staple for jailbreakers everywhere.

CallBar updated for jailbroken devices running iOS 8

Hot on the heels of a major iOS 7 revision, CallBar has been updated to play nice with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. CallBar is a tweak that makes it possible to make and take calls from anywhere on your device, even while engaged in using another app.

CallBar is a great jailbreak tweak for those of you who feel that iOS' stock calling features are intrusive. Have a look inside at our video walkthrough for more information on what makes this tweak a must-have.
