‘Pyx’ adds smooth animations to the iOS app switcher

Looking to change up the look of the App Switcher animations on iOS 8? If so, then look no further than Pyx, a $0.99 jailbreak tweak that allows you to add over half a dozen animations to the App Switcher.

As you'll see from our video walkthrough inside, Pyx isn't the most elegant tweak that you'll run across, but it works well enough to leave most satisfied with the results. Have a look at our video for the full scoop.

WatchBoard: a new Apple Watch SpringBoard replacement for iPhone and iPad

Aaron Ash, the creator of the legendary jailbreak tweak called Barrel, is back with a brand new creation called WatchBoard. WatchBoard is based off of the Apple Watch UI, and it's the best implementation of said concept that I've seen thus far.

Ash's expertise in this area is immediately apparent when it comes to design decisions, settings, etc. Not only that, but the tweak works on both the iPhone and the iPad. Have a look at our video walkthrough of WatchBoard after the break to see what makes it so good.

WiFried: a new tweak to fix iOS 8’s Wi-Fi performance issues

Developer Mario Ciabarra, best known for his work on big Intelliborn tweaks like MyWi and My3G, is back with a brand new tweak that claims to do some great things for people experiencing Wi-Fi issues on iOS 8. WiFried is the name of his new tweak, and its purpose is to fix the persistent Wi-Fi issues that occur for a lot of iOS 8 users. That sounds good and all, but the question is, will it work?

SnooScreens lets you set wallpaper from your favorite subreddit

SnooScreens is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to change your iPhone's wallpaper based on images appearing on a subreddit of your choice. Once the tweak is installed, all you need to do is configure a subreddit, adjust some of the tweak's options, and assign an Activator gesture.

Upon invoking the Activator gesture that you assign, SnooScreens will cause the Home screen and/or Lock screen wallpaper to reflect the top image post on a subreddit or an image at random from the front page. Have a look at our video walkthrough after the break for a look into how this tweak works.

Slide2Kill8 Pro lets you kill apps in a variety of ways

Slide2Kill8 Pro is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to kill apps in a variety of different ways via the App Switcher. The tweak includes "switcher actions", which allow you to kill apps directly via the switcher cards, along with "icon actions", which let you kill apps using the app icons that reside beneath the app switcher cards.

Each action in Slide2Kill8 Pro can be customized to some degree, allowing you to kill all apps, kill single apps, do nothing, or show a quick menu. The quick menu allows you to close all apps, invoke Control Center, and invoke Notification Center.

If you're looking for a way to enhance app management, particularly when it comes to force-closing apps, then you need to take a look at Slide2Kill8 Pro. Check out our full video walkthrough inside.

29 new and updated jailbreak tweaks to check out this weekend

We've now had an iOS 8 jailbreak for just about a month and it seems developers are finally catching up with updating their tweaks and even coming up with new ideas based on iOS 8's new features. We do provide an ongoing coverage of what we believe are the most interesting jailbreak tweaks, but because of the sheer amount of releases and updates, we unfortunately can't write about each of them, hence this round up that provides a quick look at what's new and what's been updated in Cydia.

How to reliably check Apple’s firmware signing window

If you accidentally upgrade to iOS 8.1.1 or any other non-jailbreakable firmware in the future, it's always a good idea to go out and check Apple's signing window to see if you can downgrade your device to a previous firmware. For example, if I upgrade my device to iOS 8.1.1 today, or if I want to check out Apple's iOS 8.2 beta, I know that I can do so and downgrade back to iOS 8.1 with no issue.

But remember, Apple's signing windows are subject to relatively quick closure. It's been four days since Apple released iOS 8.1.1, but the signing window for iOS 8.1 is still open, making it possible to downgrade now. That can, of course, change at any time. In fact, Apple could decide to close the signing window as you're reading this post.

For that reason, its a good idea to downgrade now if you ever want to jailbreak iOS 8. But it's also good to get familiar with how to check the signing window, and this handy website allows you to do just that.

iH8sn0w shows off untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak

Well known iOS hacker iH8sn0w has posted a new video on his YouTube channel of an iPad 3 (J2a model) running an untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak. This is significant because 8.1.1 patched 3 of the Pangu team's exploits, effectively killing the latest jailbreak.

As usual, just because we have proof that a firmware can be jailbroken, doesn't mean that we're guaranteed to see a public release anytime soon. In fact, it's worth pointing out that iH8sn0w has in the past demonstrated jailbreaks that never saw the light of day.

Let’s Talk Jailbreak 82: Dreaming of an Apple Watch jailbreak

Episode 82: Cody and Jeff talk about the possibility of an Apple Watch jailbreak. Apple is still signing iOS 8.1. The iOS 8.2 beta drops. And talk about new jailbreak tweaks like WeatherBoard and Everest.

‘Everest’ lets you control the Music app and Spotify using banner notifications

Everest is a recently released jailbreak tweak that allows you to control your music via banner notifications invoked by an Activator gesture. Along with the stock Music app, you can use Everest to control music from Spotify.

If you're looking for an alternative to controlling your music with Control Center, then Everest is a legitimate option. Have a look at our video walkthrough inside to see what I mean.
