Jailbreak Apps & Tweaks

These are the latest jailbreak apps and tweaks available for your iPhone or iPad. We save you time by highlighting only the best tweaks.

DownloadMove: Adjust the position of the download progress bar

DownloadMove is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to adjust the position of the download bar that appears when downloading apps from the App Store.

There are several positions included with DownloadMove; they include: Middle, Top, Bottom, Up, and Down. Sure, it's not the most impressive tweak from a functionality standpoint, but DownloadMove is a decent choice for those looking for this sort of change.

BrowseInApp: open links in-app without switching to Safari

When the developer for BrowseInApp contacted us, asking us to do a review of the tweak, I was a bit skeptical. I hadn't tried it before, and I feel like I've tried most of the jailbreak packages out there that are worth trying.

But boy was I wrong. After playing with BrowseInApp for a couple of days, the tweak has quickly become one of my favorites. It's well-built, convenient, and integrates seamlessly into iOS. Keep reading for my full review...

‘iOS X Ultimatum’ brings Mountain Lion-like theme to your iPhone

If you're searching for one of the best looking themes for the iPhone, then search no further than iOS X Ultimatum. The sequel of sorts to the original OS X Lion Ultimatum, this theme seeks to merge the desktop and the small screen into one environment.

Does this theme perform just as well as it looks? Check inside for the full scoop...

How to bypass iPad jailbreak detection on Amazon’s new video streaming app

Yesterday Amazon launched Amazon Instant Video, its new video streaming app for the iPad. The app lets you either stream or mark for download and later offline viewing any previously purchased video from Amazon. It also allows Amazon Prime users to stream over 120,000 videos for free.

Jailbreak users were quick to note that Amazon put a block in place to prevent them from using the app. As we reported this morning, Amazon even confirmed the problem, basically saying that if you are using a jailbroken iPad, there is nothing they can do for you.

But don't worry, as usual, the jailbreak community has your back...

biteSMS updated with new theme options and bug fixes

Those of you who have been around the jailbreak community for a while should be extremely familiar with biteSMS. The Messages app replacement has been around since the early days of iPhone hacking.

The app was updated today, bringing it to version 6.3.10 (or beta 10). The update features some new theming options, as well as several improvements and bug fixes. Full change log after the break...

‘Monocle’ provides true full screen mode for iOS apps

Monocle is a new jailbreak tweak from Ryan Petrich that allows you to enable a true full screen mode on many of your favorite apps.

I emphasize true full screen, because unlike Maximization — a tweak that lets your hide the status bar for full screen mode — Monocle goes the extra mile and hides the navigation bar, toolbar, and tab bar as well.

This produces a true full screen mode in apps like the App Store, where the navigation bar is still present when using Maximization. Check out our video walkthrough for a visual explanation...

Disable double-height status bars with MonoBar

In the world of jailbreak tweaks, there are some that are really worth getting excited about. These would be tweaks like Dashboard X and Springtomize, that add significant functionality to iOS.

This, however, is not one of those tweaks. MonoBar is just a simple hack that disables the double-height status bar that appears when you're recording a voice note, or in a phone call...

Create custom actions for contacts with CallTap

The contact list in iOS pales in comparison to its counterpart on other mobile platforms. There's no embedded photos, no integration with social networks profiles, and no quick way to send emails or texts.

Luckily, if you're jailbroken, you can resolve most of these problems by installing tweaks. Copic or ChatPic can add photos to your contacts, and CallTap will give you a way to quickly message them...

How to enable the Nitro Javascript engine for Google Chrome

"Chrome will never be as good as Safari," many lamented upon Chrome's iOS debut, "It doesn't have access to Apple's private Nitro Javascript Engine." If your device isn't jailbroken, that still rings true, but if it is, then not so much anymore.

That's because Nitrous — a new jailbreak tweak available on Cydia — unlocks the Nitro Javascript engine for alternative browsers like Google Chrome. Does it make a difference? Yes. Check inside and see for yourself.

‘Handwriting recognition’ is a good idea, but poorly executed

Handwriting recognition is a new $0.99 jailbreak tweak that recognizes hand written text, and converts that text into typed characters.

The cool thing about this tweak is that it uses Action Menu to activate itself, meaning it can be used freely in any app.

It's an excellent idea, but it's not without some major issues holding it back from its potential...

How to force all apps to run in full screen mode

We get it. The status bar is useful for telling the time and for displaying your remaining battery life. But what if you don't need that information to be always visible?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take the real estate borrowed by the status bar, and use it for your apps? Some apps, like games, already do this; it's called full screen mode.

What if you could force all of your apps to run in full screen mode? If you have a jailbroken device, then you no longer have to hypothesize about that scenario. That's because Maximization is a jailbreak tweak, that allows you to do just that...

Access the web from anywhere on your iPhone with AnyBrowser

When you get the sudden urge to look up something on Google or heck, iDB, what do you do? If you're iPhone is locked, you have to unlock it, locate Safari, or whatever your browser of choice is, and launch it.

The process isn't by any means tedious, but it could be cut significantly shorter if you installed a tweak like AnyBrowser. AnyBrowser allows you to access the internet from practically anywhere on your iPhone...
