Latest iPhone 7 ad is all about iMessage stickers

Apple on Monday via its YouTube channel shared a brand new television commercial for iPhone 7, titled “Sticker Fight”. Much like its September 2016 “Balloons” ad, the most recent 60-second video takes another iOS 10 iMessage feature to the real-world: sticker packs. “Say it with stickers on iPhone 7,” reads the tagline. Apple also created a new App Store section where you can download all of the stickers featured in the ad.

Viber rolls out self destructing Secret Chats

Messaging service Viber today rolled out a new Secret Chats feature. Not to be confused with Secret Messages, a similar feature introduced in February 2017 that lets you define how long your photos, videos and texts are available after the recipient has opened them, Secret Chats use Viber's end-to-end encryption let you set a timer on individual messages so they disappear after a few seconds, get an alert when a screenshot is taken and be sure no messages get forwarded.

Concept: bezel-less iPhone 8 with wraparound AMOLED screen and Dark Mode

Following a concept video from Polish blog My Apple imagining what a system-wide Dark Mode in iOS 11 (along with a few other sought-after rumored features) might look like, user interface designer Vianney le Masne has taken it upon himself to put together some great-looking mockups depicting how iPhone 8's rumored OLED screen and the handset's bezel-less design could be leveraged to implement Dark Mode across iOS and in apps.

“With Dark Mode in iOS for the next iPhone, 2017 could be all about killing the four sides of your screen and making it all about your thumb,” said le Masne.

Some experts think iPhone 8 will use flat rather than curved display

Previous reports from publications like The Wall Street Journal, Commercial Times, The Korea Herald and Nikkei, including high-ranking sources at suppliers such as Sharp as well as research from analyst from Barclays Research and KGI Securities, have predicted that iPhone 8 would come outfitted with a 5.8-inch wraparound AMOLED panel protected by a curved 2.5 glass cover on the front much like the cover glass on the iPhone 6s/7 series of phones which have the slightly curved edges.

However, several sources interviewed by MacRumors think iPhone 8 will have a flat rather than a curved screen due to lower manufacturing cost and better yields.

QuickPowerMode toggles Low Power Mode when you tap on the Status Bar battery icon

If you use Low Power Mode to save power when your battery percentage gets too low for comfort, but hate how cumbersome it is to turn the feature on, then a new free jailbreak tweak called QuickPowerMode by Olxios&Nico should be the next thing you install on your jailbroken iPhone.

This tweak makes it easier to toggle Low Power Mode. With it, all you have to do is tap on the battery icon in your Status Bar, and this turns the feature on or off.

StoreSwitcher lets you easily switch between App Store accounts

If you have more than one Apple ID associated with your iPhone for downloading apps from the App Store, then having a way to switch between your accounts more easily might be at the top of your wish list.

A new jailbreak tweak called StoreSwitcher by iOS developer Ori Kadosh is a new release that was designed with these kinds of people in mind.

This tweak is jam-packed with colorization options for your 3D Touch menus

One of the things Apple included on devices with the 3D Touch display is the ability to use a firm press gesture on an app icon to reveal a bevy of app shortcuts right from the Home screen. While this is useful, the menus have always looked pretty bland.

A jailbreak tweak called 3DColorChanger10 by gilsharhar7 fixes this problem by offering a myriad of comprehensive customization options that dwarf any tweak in its department.

Temporal adds your world clocks to the Lock screen (and supports a good cause)

If you ever wanted to know what time it was in a different part of the world, you would typically resort to asking Siri or launching the Clock app from your Home screen to see your saved time zones.

On the other hand, a new jailbreak tweak called Temporal by ridn puts that information right on your Lock screen so it’s the first thing you see when you wake your device up from a sleep.

Add a Moon phase indicator to the Status Bar with this tweak

One of the features that comes standard on the Apple Watch that doesn’t come on the iPhone is Moon phase tracking. This lets you keep track of the Moon, whether it’s getting a full or new Moon, or anything in between.

If you've always wished your iPhone could do this too, you can use a new jailbreak tweak called MoonPhase by rainwolf. This will add a new icon to the right of the time in the Status Bar that reflects upon the current Moon phase.

WhatsApp to bring back its original text-only status feature

WhatsApp's longstanding text-based status feature was recently supplanted by Snapchat-esque slideshows containing auto-vanishing images, photos, emoji, drawings and other multimedia items. Our tutorial explains how to use this new feature, but it seems many users are unhappy with the overhauled status. If you count yourself in this group, you'll be delighted to learn that Facebook is working on bringing back the original status feature, called About.
