This must be 'unveil your latest product' week for accessory makers. Logitech took the wraps off its new Ultrathin Keyboard for the iPad mini yesterday, Griffin just announced new designer iPhone 5 cases, and now Mophie has come forward.

Self-published works get a home on iBookstore ‘Breakout Books’

Apple has launched a new U.S. iTunes Store section dedicated to highlighting exclusive, self-published works from emerging talents. Sometimes, one has to expose oneself to books that cannot be found on The New York Times bestseller list. This section is aimed at surfacing cherry-picked content you'd otherwise have a hard time discovering. The move mirrors Amazon's self-published Kindle books and Apple says new titles will be added “as they begin taking off”...

Analyst: Apple is ‘leaving money on the table’ by not pursuing phablets

With half the respondents voting for an Apple phablet in our non-scientific poll and the growing number of pundits making the case for a 5+ inch form-factor iOS device, little wonder that analyst are joining the fray and calling for a jumbo-sized iPhone. A good example is Sterne Agee's Shaw Wu, who opines that Apple is losing out by not pursuing a phablet of its own.

We're not sure what to make of this. Apple under Steve Jobs stubbornly stuck with the '3.5 inch fits all' philosophy. With the iPhone 5, four inch became the new 3.5 inch. But with the growing number of users yearning for an even larger iPhone and with ten million Galaxy Notes shipped in 2012 and another ten million expected in 2013, maybe analysts are right...

The company advertised the promotion on Super Bowl so it's kinda a big deal. First, you must sign up by Saturday, February 9 in order to reserve your $50 gift card. Analyst reinvents the wheel, says iPhone 5S will look the same as iPhone 5

Apple's 10-Q filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission shows purchase commitments for the March quarter dropping from $4.5 billion two quarters ago to just $904 million. Of course, two quarters ago Apple was ramping up iPhone 5 production and investing heavily in then new in-cell touch displays. Still, that's a huge drop.

One clever interprets this data point as a sign of the iPhone 5S not needing new manufacturing processes, in turn proving it's gonna look just the same as the current-generation iPhone 5. Notable changes will be from the inside, like the speedier CPU/GPU, better cameras and what not. Man, I should have been an analyst...

After much anticipation, the hard working team of hackers that make up the evad3rs have released their iOS 6 untethered jailbreak tool to the public. The tool is called evasi0n, and it will let you jailbreak your iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches, on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Evasi0n is an untethered jailbreak, and it works on every iOS device capable of running iOS 6, with the exception of the Apple TVs. As we just told you, the evad3rs have released their jailbreak tool called evasi0n, and it allows you to easily jailbreak iOS 6. As we always do, we’ve created an easy to use written and video walkthrough to show you how to jailbreak iOS 6 on your iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

The good news is that evasi0n works with all flavors of iOS 6. That includes iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, and of course, iOS 6.1. The evad3rs have worked hard to create easy to use tools, which allow you to jailbreak iOS 6 using Mac OS X, Windows, and even Linux.

We have personally confirmed that this tutorial works on every iOS 6 compatible device outside of the Apple TV 2 and Apple TV 3. Cydia repos buckle under evasi0n traffic

Earlier today, planetbeing announced that evasi0n saw over 100,000 downloads within 10 minutes of its release. The pent-up demand for the iOS 6 jailbreak was clear, as an influx of visitors crashed the evad3rs' website.

That excess traffic has also seemingly crippled Cydia this morning. Although the app itself loads fine, we're finding it nearly impossible to access our Store accounts, or download any apps or tweaks from the main repos...
