Are Suppliers Beginning to Prepare Materials for the Next iPhone and iPad?

According to a report published this morning by DigiTimes, Apple's suppliers are being told to start preparing materials in order to initiate production of two of their most popular products -- the iPhone, and the iPad.

While it's obvious that after breaking their normal summer release schedule we'll see a new iPhone this fall, the iPad 3 news is interesting to say the least.

Another interesting point of note included in the report, is that Apple will only release one new iPhone instead of the rumored two....

It seems like everyone and their dog has their own opinion of what Apple's next smartphone will look like. While most people believe that the next iPhone will look relatively similar to its predecessor, others feel a more radical change is on the way.

Then you have the folks that think that both will show up this fall. So which is it? If rumors have confirmed one thing, it's that we really don't know what Apple is planning for the next iPhone. But here's hoping it looks something like this...

While any details we may have on the iPhone 5 right now are mere speculation, I'm confident it won't look like this! Fed up waiting for Apple's fifth-generation smartphone, TopFruit.com have created their own — made entirely of fruit and vegetables.

This edible iPhone boasts an aubergine bezel, a Music app made from oranges, and appears to run the "BlackBerry" OS. Get it? I know — that was poor...

Following the iPhone 4's first birthday earlier this month, we're now sitting patiently awaiting the release (or at least the announcement) of Apple's iPhone 5. The device is rumored to land this September, and backing up those rumors is some new "intelligence" obtained by one investment banker on a recent trip to Taiwan.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty met with individuals in Taiwan last week — home to Apple's supply chain and manufacturing facilities — and issued a note to clients in which she claims the fifth-generation iPhone will enter production in August and will "ramp aggressively" into the fourth calendar quarter...

Still wondering why Apple COO Tim Cook was wandering around China Mobile HQ earlier this week? Well, it may have something to do with the company's upcoming iPhone 5.

A worker for China Mobile allegedly revealed on Weibo.com (China's substitute to Twitter) that Apple's fifth-generation iPhone will indeed launch in September like previous speculation has suggested — possibly even earlier in the U.S. and other key markets.

Apple Planning On Allowing Third Party Widgets in iOS 5

An interesting tidbit has been discovered in Apple's recently awarded iPhone patent. It looks as though Apple will indeed allow for the development of third party widgets in iOS 5.

For the past few weeks, jailbreak developers have been creating widgets for the iOS 5 Notification Center because Apple has yet to introduce an approved method for developing and distributing third party widgets.

According to the above patent, Apple will eventually allow for the creation of third party widgets on their platform.
