5 Tips for Boosting Your iPhone Resale Value

With me, the iPhone is like the water cycle, a never ending circular flow, that just keeps on repeating itself. What do I mean?

Well, my theory is like this: Buy an iPhone once, and never pay the full price for one again. How so? Here are 5 easy tips that will help you sell your iPhone for top dollar, so that you can turn around and buy a new one for free, or close to it.

Will the iPhone 4GS Be the Fastest, Most Powerful iPhone Yet?

The iPhone 3GS was a much needed stop-gap between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 4. It was so much faster than the iPhone 3G, that pretty much anything the iPhone 4 can handle, the iPhone 3GS can still handle adequately to this day.

In all actuality, the iPhone 3G should have been what the iPhone 3GS was from the get-go; that would have resulted in a lot more satisfied customers over the long term.

As you may have noticed, when more and more iOS updates were released, the iPhone 3G became slower and slower, leading to numerous consumer complaints. This is a testament to the fact that the iPhone 3G should have been released in the form of its beefed up big brother from the very beginning...

5 Controversial Features We Could See on the iPhone 5

Everyone has their list of must have features for the iPhone 5, but a lot of them are of the obvious variety. Things like more storage space, a better camera, and more RAM. Boring!

Apple has always been a company that pushes the envelope, so it makes sense that the iPhone 5 could be a device that Apple is willing to take a gamble on. If you don't adapt well to change, you just might want to take a deep breath before reading this...

iPhone 5 Rumors

As most people are aware the next generation of iPhone, iPhone 5 will arrive sometime in 2011. There are rumors already circulating the web that iPhone 5 may be released earlier in the year than previous models for folks that were mid-term in their contract when iPhone 4 was released.

The iPhone 4 released just this summer has already raised the bar by outselling any previous model in opening sales but has had its reported problems. The first one that comes to mind is the issue with the iPhone 4's signal being hampered when the unit was held a certain way.

I personally think it was just a case of a few thousand units getting through without proper quality control inspection but whatever the issue Apple gave away free cases to resolve the issue.

iPhone 5 To Run on Both 3G and LTE

Since I started following the iPhone daily buzz I am constantly reminded by how passionate and devout the community covering the device can be. So devout that the moment someone predicts the future of an unreleased iPhone, the rest of the bloggers rush to validate the claim.

CNET reports that an analyst from Rodman and Renshaw claims that Apple's next generation phone will offer up support for both 3G technology and the futuristic LTE (Long Term Evolution) platform which is being touted as "4G" technology. Ashok Kumar said the following about the switch:

iPhone 5G to Come to Virgin Mobile in January

Forget those cheesy rumors about a Verizon iPhone! According to a person with proven knowledge of Apple's future product plans, Apple will soon release a new version of its popular iPhone. According to our informant who'd rather remain anonymous, the new iPhone will be called iPhone 5G.

The iPhone 5G will be coming to Virgin Mobile just after the holidays. Sources familiar with the matter at Virgin Mobile confirmed that not only the iPhone 5G will be available on America's smallest network, but it will also come in a white version, which I remind you still has to be made available for the iPhone 4...

iPhone 5 May Abandon Intel’s Infineon Chip

A few weeks back we posted articles detailing Intel's acquiring of Infineon, the smartphone chip maker who has supplied every single iPhone baseband chip. Surely this meant that Apple's beloved phone would be running Intel inside their next iPhone come next summer. Not so fast.

According to Apple Insider the Commercial Times reports that Infineon will not supply the Apple with the baseband chip for the iPhone 5. Instead, the chip will be manufactured by the Hon Hai Group and Foxconn...

Introducing the iPhone 5

Ok don't get too excited, this is obviously a fake. There is no such thing as the iPhone 5, at least for the time being. I came across this image by accident on Twitter, via Bizarro Comic.

I think it's pretty funny. My favorite features? The "pie on demand" and "get out of jail free".

Does Hiring NFC Expert Secure iPhone as an iWallet?

Apple announced its hiring of Benjamin Vigier, who for lack of a better word, is an expert of Near Field Communications, or NFC as it's referred as. Computer World's Jonny Evans has posted a lengthy blog that outlines what he says is an inevitable transformation of the iPhone as we know it.

How so? Evans believes that the next-gen iPhone will be designed to, and be capable of handling specific tasks such as scanning your device to pay for things like airline tickets, to fingerprint recognition passkey protection. Sound scary? Yes and no.

Dear Apple, Don’t Release It Early… [Rant]

While iDB reported on a rumor regarding an early iPhone 5 release yesterday, I feel a further-ado to its idiocy is warranted. So many questions come to head at the very sound of this. To start, we look no further than eligibility. If this were to come out under AT&T, who could buy it? Most everyone who wanted an iPhone 4, either bought or ordered one, which reset their upgrade date. I know I don't speak alone when I say I'd be royally ticked off if a newly designed iPhone was released, and I wasn't eligible for subsidized pricing.

The rumor in question states that similar features would be included, however the antenna would be placed differently, and a 64GB model would be offered. Say What? Not only would the "problem that isn't a problem" be fixed, but just to add insult to injury, the capacity would be doubled? This would completely negate everything Apple said and "did", concerning the antenna. If you thought the original issue was a PR director's bad dream, this fiasco would be a nightmare.

Early Release of an iPhone 5?

Yesterday TUAW reported on an iLounge leak, concerning several possibilities around new iPods, iPads, and yes, an early release of an iPhone 5 type device. Now, even iLounge themselves stated that they think such a device would be "highly unlikely", however my blood started to boil just thinking of such a scenario. The rumor is that Apple would be releasing the device 6 months earlier than its previous summer cycle.

This would be entirely due to the well documented antenna issue. The speculation doesn't stop there though. The "story" continues with saying that the likelihood of an "iPhone 4.5" would be more of a possibility. Having the device be similar in design, minus the antenna placement, come in a 64GB model, and run on Verizon's CDMA network. Are you getting mad yet?

Let's be real for a minute. It wasn't that long ago when rumors of an iPhone Nano were flooding throughout the grapevine. Obviously we know what came of that. I will say that if Apple thinks releasing a bigger capacity, differently placed antenna device designed to run on Verizon as a way to "not disrupt the Apple faithful", they are sorely misguided. Time will tell if there is any substance to this, but keep your torches handy.

What do you think?
