iPad Controlled 80% of the North American Tablet Market in Q2

When you are talking about slim, modern day tablets, the iPad was the first to market. Before Apple's slate, the "tablet" category was filled with clunky devices that ran desktop software and carried price tags over $1,000.

Obviously, being first has paid off for the company in dividends. I don't think anyone would argue that the iPad has dominated the tablet market over the last two years, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon...

How to Stitch Your SHSH Blobs Using RedSn0w to Create Firmware That Can Always Be Downgraded

If you checked out our RedSn0w 0.9.9b1 video walkthrough, you saw for yourself how much of a drastic change the latest version is.

One of the most compelling features added to the new RedSn0w, is the ability to 'stitch' your SHSH blobs to their corresponding firmwares. This makes it so that you have a self contained means of downgrading firmware, well after it stops being signed by Apple.

Even better, is the fact that it's completely standalone, meaning you won't have to do any trickery in order to get iTunes to let you downgrade. By stitching an SHSH blob to a firmware file, iTunes is none the wiser.

Check out our full tutorial and video walkthrough of this incredibly handy new feature...

How to Save SHSH Blobs Using TinyUmbrella [Video]

There's no two ways around it, TinyUmbrella is just as much of a staple to jailbreakers, as the tools that actually perform the jailbreaks. For that reason, I figured it was only right to create a standalone TinyUmbrella tutorial, which shows you how to manage your SHSH blobs.

With TinyUmbrella, your blobs can be retrieved from either Apple, or Cydia. In this video tutorial, I show you the difference between both methods and how to save your SHSH blobs for possible firmware downgrades...

Facebook to Launch iPad App at iPhone 5 Event?

Mashable just dropped somewhat of a bomb in the iOS world. According to the website, Facebook will be launching its long-awaited iPad app at the iPhone 5 event, which will most likely be scheduled next week.

We wouldn't normally pay too much attention about what Mashable says, but it's interesting to note that Robert Scoble has been hearing the same thing, as he mentioned last week on Google+...

CodeThemed: Easily Create Custom Themes for Your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, And Share Them With the World

For many iDevice owners, the ability to use custom themes has been more of a secondary benefit to jailbreaking, than an outright reason to jailbreak, but that's beginning to change.

With the rise in popularity of theme platforms such as DreamBoard, and the WinterBoard enhancing theme stores such as ThemeIt, there's little doubt that many are seeing this as the reason to jailbreak their iDevices.

CodeThemed takes the premise of theming to the next level, allowing users to easily and quickly create their own custom themes; rate, share, and download from a community of users. Be sure to check out the full in-depth video walkthrough after the break...

Ex-Facebook Employee Tells All, iPad App Has Been Ready Since May

Last week, Facebook held its annual F8 conference. Much like Apple's WWDC, F8 is an event where Facebook shows off new innovations to the media and its developers.

While there were a number of announcements made on Thursday, there was something noticeably missing from Mark Zuckerburg's keynote: the iPad app. We know it exists, so why hasn't Facebook released it yet?

Apple Reportedly Cutting iPad Orders by 25% [Updated]

Are things not looking so bright for Apple? A report by JP Morgan this morning claims that the company has been cutting iPad orders from vendors. Several of those supply-chain vendors indicated that Apple cut iPad orders for the 4th quarter of 2011 by 25%.

This cut could translate in a drop from 17 million to 13 million iPads, something unheard of so far with Apple. Why such drastic measures?

Apple Working on Universal Charging and Syncing Cable For Macs, iDevices

It's patent time again, and the latest discovery by those eagle-eyed patent-watchers at AppleInsider have spied a new application that hints at an improved method of charging and syncing our mobile devices.

The patent, originally filed all the way back in 2001 and recently improved upon, suggests Apple's boffins are keen to reduce the number cables and connectors we use for our mobile devices – that's Macbooks, iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. The old-fashioned click wheel iPods should also be able to get in on the action...

The Just Mobile UpStand is One Sleek Looking iPad Stand

I consider myself to be fairly savvy when it comes to iPad accessories and peripherals, especially so when it comes to stands and cases.

I've had stands that have acted as cases, cases that have acted as stands, portable stands, stationary stands, and more. In other words, I've see a lot of good, and I've seen a lot of bad.

The UpStand from Just Mobile, is fortunately, one of the good stands to add on the list; dare I say it's even great? Check out my full video review of this beautiful iPad stand after the break...

According to reports from its customers, Optimum's iOS apps now fail to work on devices that have been jailbroken...
