Plants vs. Zombies 2 now available for download

At this point, it seems like we've been waiting on 'Plants vs. Zombies 2' for forever now. First previewed back in March of this year, the sequel to PopCap's popular tower defense game was supposed to launch in July, but was delayed until 'late summer.'

Then a few weeks ago, the title was soft-launched in two countries: Australia and New Zealand, with no explanation when we would see the title stateside. But never fear, the wait is over. 'Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time' just hit App Stores worldwide...

Good news Flipboard users, the aggregating social/news magazine has updated its mobile apps this afternoon with some handy improvements. The update brings the app to version 2.0.5, and it includes a new 'Top Stories' section, GIF support, and more.

With version 2.0.5, users can now scan the day's Top Stories by genre, which are separated into News, Tech, Business and Sports sections. This is useful in that if you subscribe to multiple RSS feeds, you can easily bypass the stuff that doesn't interest you...

I don't currently use an in-vehicle mount for my iPhone. I've tried a few before, but each time I was more than disappointed with their build quality. But if I was going to try one again, I'd probably look for something like the eleMount.

Facebook is working on a new mobile app, but you probably won't be able to use it. That is, unless you happen to be a Hollywood A-lister or a high-profile professional athlete. That's because the app is for VIPs only, or very important people.

The project is Facebook's latest attempt to entice famous people to share more stuff on their site—a move which is part of an even larger plan to compete more directly with Twitter for the attention of celebrities and their legions of followers...

Yelp update allows users to post reviews directly from the app

Yelp has posted an update for its iOS app this morning, bringing the client to version 7.0. The update doesn't include a lot of new features, but it does bring about one significant change: users can now post reviews to the site directly from the app.

The move has been a long time coming—users have long been calling for the ability to post to Yelp from within the app. The company has allowed users to post Tips from the mobile client in the past, but they can now post full-length assessments...

New Audi app uses augmented reality to help you find stuff on your car

Audi has recently launched a new iOS app that could offer a glimpse into the future of vehicle manuals. It's called eKurzinfo, and it uses the camera of an iOS device, along with some augmented reality tech, to help users identify parts and features on their car.

Built for the popular A3 hatchback, the app covers over 300 elements of the car from windshield wipers to the oil cap. Engine overheating? No problem, simply launch the app and pan the camera across the A3's engine bay to find where to put your coolant...

Bloomberg weighs in on upcoming iPads and iPhones

With less than a month until Apple's September 10 iPhone event, Bloomberg has scanned the blogs and talked to its unnamed sources in an effort to dig up some previously unknown "facts" about Apple's upcoming iPhone and iPad refreshes.

Now, stop me if you've heard this before, but much of Bloomberg's reporting centers around a thinner and lighter iPad 5 with iPad mini style design.

Where it gets interesting, however, is a claim that Apple also plans to introduce a Retina iPad mini this year rather than in 2014...

Facebook app updated with hashtag support, restaurant reservations and more

Facebook just posted a significant update for its iOS client, bringing the app to version 6.4. The update brings about a number of new features and improvements, including support for the social network's new hashtag feature.

Version 6.4 also includes a new feature that allows users to make restaurant reservations from within the Facebook app. So if you see a place you'd like to try in the local business Pages, you can set that up with a single click...

BlackBerry considers selling itself to stay alive

It seems we may be nearing the end of a long and tortuous death march by Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry. After attempting to beat Apple and its own game, then talking about doing a Dell and going private, BlackBerry is now putting out the "For Sale" sign.

Various sources have been mulling for months that Apple's fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad will adopt the overall appearance of the iPad mini, including its skinnier side bezels and thinner, lighter enclosure. Earlier this year, a report from a Korean news site claimed that Apple was looking at the possibility of launching a 12.9-inch iPad in early 2014. We called the story 'crazy,' as among other things, it called for the monstrous tablet to be named the 'iPad maxi.'

Surprisingly, though, late last month the Wall Street Journal corroborated the report, saying it had it on good authority that Apple was really working on such a device. And on the off chance that it ever makes it to market, here's what it could look like...

New photos of iPad 5 front panel surface, again show thinner bezels

Back in January of this year, iLounge's Jeremy Horwitz claimed to have seen a physical model of the fifth generation iPad. He said it was "a lot smaller than one would guess was possible" with "virtually no left or right bezels."

Since then, all of the reports and part leaks we've seen have corroborated Horwitz' description. We've seen rear shells of the tablet—more than once—and a few cases, and today we have new pictures of a black front panel...
