Don’t stop charging your iPad when it says 100%

With all the hoopla around the new iPad getting a little bit toastier than its predecessor, Dr. Raymond Soneira is in high demand these days. Yesterday, he explained how the demanding Retina display and brightness levels affect the iPad's run time. Today, he's back at it, warning the device keeps charging even when it claims to have been filled.

Is this an iOS software flaw akin to a "bug" in cellular signal levels on the iPhone 4 (later fixed with a software update)? Hard to tell. All we know is it keeps charging for as much as an hour after the battery gauge hits the 100 percent mark. This, too, might explain why some people experience shorter run times with the new iPad versus its predecessor...

The upgraded screen size has been rumored to be featured in the iPhone for quite awhile. Many Android devices include a larger 4-inch screen, including Samsung's popular Galaxy S II. The 4.6-inch display would be Retina quality and manufactured by Samsung and LG...

iPhoto for iOS gains 1 million users since launch

There have been many mixed reviews over Apple's newest app, iPhoto for iOS. The app allows users to make quick edits to their photos and then share them across social networks. Some say they love it, while others say it's too clunky to use.

However, that's not stopping customers from downloading the new app. Apple told The Loop today that the $4.99 app is now being used by 1 million users, since its launch 10 days ago...

With over a billion wireless subscribers, China is certainly one of the most sought-after mobile markets. Heck, China Mobile (the world's largest carrier) alone has over 650 million customers.

Now it looks like that market just got even more valuable. According to Flurry, a mobile analytics company, China is now the world's fastest growing smart device market as well...

World of Warcraft producer says they’re looking into iPhone version

Ah World of Warcraft. The number one MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) is also likely the number one reason why gamers aged 12 - 60 don't see much sunlight. But that may not be the case for long.

Eurogamer recently spoke with WoW's senior producer John Lagrave about the possibility of Blizzard bringing the popular game to the iOS platform. And his comments are actually a lot more positive than you'd think...

Apple announces it has sold 3 million new iPads so far

While the company's stock just closed at an all-time high this afternoon, Apple has just announced some staggering numbers. Customers just couldn't wait to get their hands on the new Retina display glory.

Apple stock closes at over $600 for first time

Today has been a pretty big day for those who currently own Apple stock. The Cupertino-based company announced this morning on a conference call with CEO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppenheimer that it will be issuing divdends and stock buybacks.

The stock market is liking Apple's announcement. While it hit $600 per share four days ago, Apple's stock has just closed at over $600 for the first time..

Apple brings community Q&A to online store

Apple already has one of the most customer friendly shopping experiences around with its online store. An easy to navigate UI combined with pages full of information and a great customer support staff make it one of the best. Today, Apple has added a new element in hopes of making things a bit easier when you're buying your new iPhone or iPad online.

Apple has introduced an 'Answers from the community' section that allows customers to ask any question and get quick responses from fellow Apple fanboys. For more direct questions, this new section of the site should be of more assistance than Apple's support forums...

Apple’s cheapest iOS device might also be the most secure

All things considered, it's been a pretty good weekend for the jailbreak community. Not only have hackers managed to find multiple exploits for the new iPad (within 24 hours no less), but we've even seen proof of an untethered jailbreak.

It gets better. Word is that the work that is being done on Apple's new tablet will also apply to older devices on iOS 5.1, except perhaps the new Apple TV. Apparently, the least expensive iOS device also happens to be the most secure...

New iPad already accounts for 5% of total iPad traffic on the web

Analysts have already predicted the new iPad having a record weekend, perhaps selling over a million units of the new tablet. The new iPad out of Cupertino went on sale Friday, and while Apple hasn't sold out in its retail stores yet, demand for the new tablet is said to be high. New customers are especially interested in the iPad's beautiful Retina display.

According to new numbers from advertising network Chitika, the new iPad already accounts for 5% of all iPads that are currently rummaging through the Internet...

Apple TV contains 8GB of flash storage and 512MB of RAM

We finally got our hands on the new Apple TV last Thursday and have had the chance to bask in its 1080p glory. While we already knew there was a single-core A5 processor inside, a forum user from XBMC.org has done a teardown of the device to reveal its insides.

From the teardown, we find that the new Apple TV still has the same 8GB of flash storage like its second-generation brother, but has received a bump to 512MB of RAM...

Following the iOS debacle, Mountain Lion now asks permission to access contacts too

It seems that Apple's learnings from the Path Contacts debacle have extended to the Mac, too, with the latest Developer Preview of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion also seeing a Contacts-based new security addition.

Those with reasonable memories will remember that Path, the social networking app that was all the rage not long ago, got itself into some hot water for taking all the details from the iOS Contacts app – names, numbers, email addresses and more – and uploading them to its own servers. This led to all kinds of scaremongering and ultimately, Apple decided to add a warning message to iOS that tells users when an app is requesting access to contact details. Users then have to option of allowing or blocking that access.

Now it appears that Apple has pulled this security feature across from iOS to the Mac, or at least it will in the next version of OS X when it arrives later this year...
