Emulate the CarPlay experience on your iPhone or iPad with CarPlay iOS 2.0

Two years ago, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called CarPlay iOS, which allowed you to emulate the CarPlay head unit user interface directly on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad.

Although the tweak was limited due the nature of the features that come bundled in the CarPlay interface, the developer has been working on a treat for those who liked playing with the original tweak; CarPlay iOS 2.0 is now available in Cydia.

This tweak keeps Facebook Messenger from bugging you to invite people to use it

Facebook has been badgering its users to download the standalone Messenger app for as long as I can remember, and as it stands, even years after the change, users are still reluctant to download a standalone app for something that used to exist in the Facebook app itself.

NoInviteFBMessenger is a new jailbreak tweak that disables the "Invite [name] to Messenger" alerts in the Facebook Messenger app, and we'll talk a little about it in this post.

iOS 10 preview: Siri comes to (some) apps & powers smarter QuickType keyboard suggestions

Siri has gained new features in iOS 10. Not only does she power smarter QuickType keyboard suggestions and lets you control HomeKit-compatible accessories using your voice, but Apple now officially supports third-party integration with SiriKit for developers.

In opening up Siri to apps, Apple's taken the same controlled approach like with iOS multitasking by only permitting certain app types.

In this iOS 10 preview, we're going to take a closer look at an improved QuickType keyboard with added Siri intelligence, explain specific app types that can take advantage of Siri and look into the technologies that make all of this possible.

iOS 10’s elusive Dark Mode shown in Settings app

Five days ago, iDownloadBlog's own Andrew O'Hara first wrote about jailbreak developer Andy Wiik's discovery of Dark Mode resources buried deep within iOS 10's Messages app.

During the weekend, Wiik shared a few new screenshots showing a dark mode for the Settings app, running in iOS Simulator, strongly suggesting that these Dark Mode resources may not have been left within iOS 10 code by accident.

Apple’s updated Photos app recognizes 7 facial expressions, 4,432 objects and scenes

During the WWDC keynote a week ago, Apple announced that iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will bring facial recognition features alongside a brand new Memories tab and other improvements in Photos for iOS 10 and macOS Sierra.

According to a Medium post by Redditor “vista980622,” Photos' facial recognition engine is capable of distinguishing between seven distinct facial expressions and detecting up to 4,432 searchable objects and scenes on your photos.

Breadcrumb10 enables iOS 10-style Breadcrumb links on jailbroken devices

There is a truckload of new features in iOS 10, but some of the features it has to offer have existed for a long time already and have just received a facelift.

One of the features that has existed since the launch of iOS 9 is the Breadcrumb links that appear in the Status Bar when you switch between apps, and iOS 10 changes the look of these a little bit.

If you're a fan of the new design, you'll be happy to hear Breadcrumb10 is a new jailbreak tweak that lets you port the iOS 10 Breadcrumb changes to your jailbroken iOS 9 iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

Resources discovered in iOS 10 suggest cellular data toggle possibly coming to Control Center

iOS 10 has a lot going on. There are a lot of enhancements that we've covered so far, and many more we haven't. New features aside, many people have been digging through iOS 10 beta in search for unannounced features, or upcoming devices.

Thanks to iOS developer Andrew Wiik, we have another idea of what might be coming in a future iOS 10 beta: the sought-after cellular data toggle in Control Center.

BootScreenCustomization lets you colorize the boot screen to your liking for free

Each and every time you turn your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad on, you get the boot up screen, which shows a mono-colored background and an Apple logo in the center with an opposing color.

Depending on whether your device has a black or white bezel, the colors of the boot up screen differ from the factory, but with jailbreaking, you can actually take control of the colors and configure them your own way.

BootScreenCustomization is a new jailbreak tweak that will let you do this, and we'll show you how the tweak works in this review.

iOS 10 tidbit: managing app downloads in progress with 3D Touch

Pausing an in-progress App Store download has always been a cinch on iOS: you just tap the icon of the app being downloaded on your Home screen in order to pause the download, and then tap it again to resume it.

But cancelling the download is a trickier affair: you must tap the icon's X sign in jiggle mode. The problem is, entering iOS's signature jiggle mode often interferes with 3D Touch.

Thankfully, iOS 10 comes to the rescue with all-new 3D Touch shortcuts for managing downloads in progress.

iOS 10 tidbit: getting to Spotlight from any app, in an instant

Since installing iOS 10 Preview on my iPhone 6s I've been discovering these little gems that, in my personal opinion, will make this particular revision to Apple's mobile OS the most worthwhile upgrade yet.

Aside from major new headlining features, it's the little things that make our hearts sing. One of such subtle refinements is the ability to quickly get to Spotlight Search from any app.
