Auxo 3 review: a legendary tweak inches closer to perfection

After much anticipation, I finally have my hands on Auxo 3—exactly two years to the day of the original Auxo release date. This is a jailbreak tweak a long time in the making. It's the second sequel to one of the most well-known and impactful jailbreak tweaks in the community's storied history, and it doesn't disappoint.

If I could put it into a nutshell, I'd say that Auxo 3 is a much-refined version Auxo 2. Lead designer, Sentry, and developer, Qusic, refrain from deviating drastically from the things that made Auxo 2 such a compelling update, but the pair does bring quite a few new interesting features and refinements to the table. This ultimately proves to be a very good thing.

CameraTweak 3: a good Camera app upgrade, but not as compelling as its predecessors

The CameraTweak series of jailbreak tweaks is a long-running series that first debuted over two years ago for iOS 6. At the time, it brought many features to the iPhone's Camera app that were sorely missing. Things like adding a countdown timer and improved exposure and focus control are just a few of the enhancements that jailbreakers welcomed with opened arms. Now that the stock Camera app has been dramatically improved in iOS 7 and iOS 8, is CameraTweak 3 the compelling tweak that its predecessors were?

How to add Nyan Cat to Reachability view

It seems like at least once every jailbreak generation a jailbreak tweak arrives to add the Nyan Cat to iOS. This time around, the Nyan Cat is added to iOS 8's Reachability view. Appropriately entitled ReachTheNyanCat, this free jailbreak tweak is a good way to spice up Reachability on your iPhone.

AnyDrop 3: share any file via AirDrop on iOS 8

Developer Majd Alfhaily is back with a new iOS 8-ready version of AnyDrop, the jailbreak app that allows you to share any file via the built-in AirDrop feature on iOS 8. Entitled AnyDrop 3, this latest version of the app supports both iOS 7 and iOS 8 out of the box. If you're interested in unleashing AirDrop, making it compatible with native file system files and even Music app tracks, then AnyDrop 3 is a jailbreak app that's worth investigating.

LockSmoother+ provides an elegant looking Lock screen on iOS 8

If you have an especially good-looking Lock screen wallpaper, perhaps you find it annoying when iOS clutters it up with all of its Lock screen UI elements. If so, then LockSmoother+ is something that you may want to give a shot. It's a $0.99 jailbreak tweak that just became available today on Cydia's BigBoss repo. As its name states, LockSmoother's goal is to provide a smoother and sleeker looking Lock screen that can compliment beautiful wallpaper. But does it work?

ReachWeather: view current weather conditions when invoking Reachability

Do you ever wish that you could use the blank space that appears when invoking Reachability on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus? The developer of ReachWeather apparently did, and so he did something about it. ReachWeather is a new jailbreak tweak that uses the available Reachability real estate to place something useful there—current weather conditions for a predetermined location.

How to add a round dock to the iPhone’s Home screen

Interested in rounding off the look of your iPhone's dock? If so, there's a new jailbreak tweak that you should check out, which is aptly entitled RoundDock. RoundDock is a brand new jailbreak tweak available on the BigBoss repo that will round the corners of your Home screen dock at the bottom of the SpringBoard.

Hands-on with CarPlay Activator, a very promising standalone CarPlay tweak

I've had the privilege of going hands-on with Adam Bell's upcoming CarPlay Activator tweak for standalone iOS devices like the iPad and the iPhone. As we reported a few week's ago, Bell, known for his work in the jailbreak community with tweaks like Stride, posted a video of an in-progress CarPlay port for the iPad. The thoughts of such a release immediately got my wheels turning, as I'm sure it has for many others. Watch our full 9 minute video walkthrough for a deeper look into what makes this upcoming CarPlay tweak so promising.

Auxo for iOS 8 is in the works

For those of you who are fans of Auxo, one of the most popular and well-regarded jailbreak tweaks of all time, you can now rest easy. Last night, the folks at a3tweaks confirmed that an Auxo update is in the works for the latest jailbreak releases. That means that, yes, you'll soon be able to enjoy the Auxo experience on iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' glorious screens.

AdvancedSettings8: access the ridiculously in-depth settings hidden on your iOS 8 device

AdvancedSettings8 is a jailbreak tweak that unlocks Apple's hidden settings for iOS 8. These settings are hidden for a good reason, as they reveal things that the average user would have no clue how to use. I consider myself to be a fairly advanced user, and it was enough to confuse me a bit, so there's that.

But there is some value to be had from AdvancedSettings8. After you peruse the multitude of sections and the vast array of adjustable values, you'll surely stumble upon at least one or two settings from which you can personally derive value.

How to jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.1.2 with TaiG

iOS 8.1.1 is now officially jailbroken, and it's one of the easiest jailbreaks that I've experienced in my long history of jailbreaking. As we first noted, the TaiG team, not the Pangu team, is responsible for the iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak, which was released for Windows users early this morning.

I've personally tested out the TaiG jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1.1, and can report that it works. In fact, it installs Cydia straight out of the box, and it's super easy to follow along, even though the tool hasn't been translated to English. In this tutorial, we will show you how to use TaiG to jailbreak iOS 8.1.1.

Update: This tutorial was written for iOS 8.1.1, but you can follow the same directions to jailbreak iOS 8.1.2. Simply make sure you use the latest version of TaiG.
