Update About the iPhone iOS 4.2 Jailbreak & Unlock

With iOS 4.2 release day right around the corner, there are a few things that you need to be reminded of. Most jailbreak veterans out there probably know this by now, but I’m worried that the jailbreak novices will make mistakes they might regret sooner rather than later.

The Dev Team just posted an update on their blog about what to expect, and most importantly about what to do and what not to do. Here is a quick summary…

Omnio Reveals the “WOWKey” Keyboard With iPhone Integration

Does an iPhone-integrated keyboard for your Mac or PC sound interesting? The Korean tech company, Omnio, thinks so.

The WOWKey device is a desktop keyboard that boasts iPhone integration through a built-in dock. This “made for iPhone” keyboard is the first of its kind, offering extensive integration with iOS. This inventive gadget opens up a world of possibilities…

What iPhone iOS 4.2 Feature Are You Looking Forward to the Most?

The folks over at TiPB have posted a nice and handy walk-through guide for iOS 4.2 features for iPhone, detailing all the new features expected in the latest iOS rollout, due this month (maybe as early as this week?)

While it’s not a major overhaul, there are several features iOS 4.2 is bringing that enhance the user experience – especially for iPad users. So which 4.2 features are you looking forward to getting the most on your iPhone?

NotesFont brings iOS 4.2-esque Font Features to the iPhone Notes App

Although I’m not a developer, I have been able to play around extensively with iOS 4.2 on my iPad. Let me just reiterate the sentiments that it is indeed worth the hype. With new features like AirPlay, it’s understandable that that ability to switch your fonts in the Notes app is playing second fiddle to all of the other enhancements.

Although iOS 4.2 is right around the corner, Apple has been one-upped with the release of the jailbreak tweak, NotesFont. Not only does this tweak bring the ability to change fonts in the native Notes app, it offers a lot more fonts than what Apple is planning to offer…

Need More Proof that iOS 4.2 is Right Around The Corner?

I can’t say I’m a big fan of Sudoku, but Big Bad Sudoku Book has piqued my interest due to it being one of the first iPhone Apps in the App Store that touts full support for iOS 4.2. If that’s not proof that iOS 4.2 is mere hours or days away, then I don’t know what is.

Although iPhone users running iOS 4.1 already have access to Game Center, remember that our iPad toting friends currently do not, along with many other features like multitasking, and folders. If Big Bad Sudoku Book’s latest App Store approval is any indicator, I’d say that the wait is just about over.

More Info About the iOS 4.2 Jailbreak

With the release of iOS 4.2 just around the corner, everyone is wondering when and what kind of jailbreak we’ll be getting. Even though LimeRa1n and GreenPois0n can’t supposedly be patched without hardware modification, the risk of getting a tethered jailbreak still remains.

Comex brought up a bit of clarification about the iOS 4.2 jailbreak in a series of tweets. There is some good and some bad news…

iOS 4.2 GM Can Be Jailbroken with RedSn0w

Apple released iOS 4.2 GM a few hours ago, and the word on the street is that you can already jailbreak it using the latest RedSn0w update. Like MuscleNerd suggested, unless you’re a jailbreak app developer or unless you know exactly what you’re doing, it might be a good idea to stay away from it.

Remember that updating your iPhone to iOS 4.2 GM might prevent you from unlocking your iPhone forever (most likely not, but you never know)…

Apple Releases iOS 4.2 GM – Real Deal to Come Soon

Apple just released iOS 4.2 Gold Master for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This basically is the pre-release version before the public one gets shipped. In other words, we should see the iOS 4.2 released to the public in just a few day.

I’m not sure yet if iOS 4.2 GM holds any surprise, but as always, make sure to stay away from it for the time being if you care a lot about your jailbreak/unlock.

iPhone Unlock for iOS 4.1 and 4.2 Coming Soon?

Here is an interesting tweet from MuscleNerd saying that “a very nice unlock” is coming soon. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the Dev Team already has an unlock ready for release but they’re just waiting for Apple to ship iOS 4.2, sometimes in the next few days.

I assume this unlock will work for every device and will be compatible with iOS 4.1 and 4.2 basebands…

Apple Reportedly Hosting a Secret iOS Developer Conference This Week

Apple is rumored to be hosting a top secret iOS developer conference in California this week. The event is supposed to start on Tuesday and run through Thursday.

Could this meeting of the minds be Apple’s attempt to counteract the rise of Google’s Android platform in the smartphone market? There’s plenty to speculate about…

iOS 4.2 Jailbroken on Arrival

When Apple releases the final version of iOS 4.2 to the public next month, you shouldn’t have to wait long before a jailbreak is released. The jailbreak might even be released on the same day that Apple makes iOS 4.2 available to the masses.

A couple of days ago, iOS hacker iH8sn0w posted an image of an iPad, one obviously on firmware iOS 4.2, running the jailbreak only mobile terminal app. As we reported earlier, due to the nature of the jailbreak, the quick turnaround time should be something we should see going forward, because one of the exploits is a hardware exploit that, according to hackers, can’t be patched…

Apple to Fix Major iPhone Security Hole with iOS 4.2

Yesterday we reported that a major security flaw had been found in iOS 4, which would allow anyone to bypass the iPhone password protection with a couple simple actions. In my article I reported that Apple would most likely fix that with the future release of iOS 4.2, sometimes in the next few weeks.

It seems that I was right as an Apple spokeswoman gave Wired the following statement:
