Dark Mode

LightsOut uses ambient light to switch between iOS’ dark and light modes

If you’re jailbroken and you enjoy using dark mode to reduce eyestrain at night but prefer the standard light mode during the day for visibility, then you just might come to appreciate the convenience of a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called LightsOut by iOS developer Skitty.

iOS 13 can be configured to automatically switch between dark and light mode based on the time of day, but this unfortunately doesn’t compensate for unusual situations, such as walking into a dark room during the day. LightsOut effectively solves this problem by automatically switching your device between dark and light mode depending on the brightness level around you.

This tweak darkens the iPhone’s screenshot flash in dark environments

If you’ve ever wanted to show someone something from the display of your device without being in physical contact with them, then you might choose to capture a screenshot and send the resulting image to that person of choice. All iPhones and iPads support screenshot-taking, and if you’re familiar with the process, you should already know that iOS generates a bright white flash when the screenshot button sequence is invoked to simulate a camera flash.

It’s a nice touch to make the screenshot experience seem more realistic, but if you’re ever in a dark environment, such as peering at your phone while in bed, the bright white flash can be tear-jerkingly blinding. That’s why iOS developer XCXiao has released a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Smart Dark Flash.

Noire toggles iOS 13’s dark mode with a pull-down gesture in Settings

Apple integrates several ways into its mobile operating system to toggle iOS 13’s new dark mode feature on or off on demand, but perhaps you aren’t satisfied with them or you’d prefer to use a different method?

Enter Noire, a new and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer MTAC that lets you turn dark mode on or off with a simple swipe-down gesture in the first page of the Settings app.

AdaptiveDarkMode lets jailbreakers set more conditions for iOS 13’s dark mode

Dark mode is one of my favorite new features in iOS 13, but Apple doesn’t give you too many options as far as switching between dark and light mode is concerned apart from doing so manually and automatically based on the time of day it is.

An iOS developer by the name of Smokin1337 recognized that this as something that could be improved, and with that in mind, a new and free jailbreak tweak called AdaptiveDarkMode was conceived.

Jailbreakers can now customize iOS 13’s native dark mode with Noctis Neo

Jailbreakers have had access to dark mode for years, but Apple is just now implementing it out of the box with the launch of iOS 13. Unfortunately, native dark mode in iOS 13 isn’t quite as dark as some users would prefer, and that’s why iOS developer LaughingQuoll has released a new jailbreak tweak called Noctis Neo.

Noctis Neo, much like older iterations of Noctis, lets users enable and configure dark mode with or without custom color accents and tints. You’ll notice in some of the screenshot examples above that Noctis Neo can make iOS 13’s dark mode a truer black than it comes out of the box, but that’s not the only thing it can do.

Nighthawk emphasizes any jailbroken iPhone’s OLED display

Many of Apple’s latest handsets sport OLED display panels, which exhibit higher contrast ratios and deeper black colors when compared with older LCD display panels. If you’re fortunate enough to have a jailbreak on one of these devices, then there’s no doubt that you could take better advantage of your OLED display with the help of a modern jailbreak tweak.

Enter Nighthawk, a new release by iOS developer Dylan Duff that transforms many of iOS’ native blurred-background interfaces into OLED-friendly pitch-black masterpieces.

Sileo v1.5.0 beta 1 now available for testing with 2x speed boost and dark mode

The Sileo Team took to the @GetSileo Twitter account early Thursday morning to tease the imminent release of an updated beta version of the Sileo package manager with more than twice the speed performance of the latest public release.

As of just an hour ago, that beta version is now available for testers. Those using the Electra Team’s Chimera or Electra jailbreaks are free to download Sileo Beta v1.5.0 beta 1 from the default repository on each jailbreak:

Sileo Team launches Sileo v1.4.2 beta 1 with native dark mode support

Just a few hours ago, the Sileo Team teased a gorgeous set of screenshots depicting what appeared to be an iOS 13-like dark mode for the Sileo package manager. The Sileo Team didn’t say when it would be getting released, but that small detail doesn’t seem to be all that important anymore.

Just within the past hour, the Sileo Team released Sileo v1.4.2 beta 1. It was announced via the official @GetSileo Twitter page, and from what we can tell, this is the first iteration of the proprietary package manager to support a native dark mode feature:

Sileo Team teases upcoming update for Sileo with dark mode support

Just minutes after Pwn20wnd released the most substantial stability and reliability update ever for the unc0ver jailbreak, the Sileo Team teased what appears to be an upcoming update for the Sileo package manager with a drop-dead gorgeous dark mode user interface that appears to be heavily inspired by Apple’s upcoming iOS 13 software update.

The Sileo Team shared the images above via the official @GetSileo Twitter page just minutes ago, adding that it would be ‘coming soon:’

Carbon Dark Mode offers an efficient dark mode for jailbroken iOS 12 users

Dark mode has become such a popular concept that Apple’s upcoming iOS 13 software update will incorporate it out of the box, but jailbreakers have already had access to dark mode-centric jailbreak tweaks for what feels like several years now. Still, it isn’t uncommon for developers to release new dark mode-oriented jailbreak tweaks with improved feature sets or performance.

Carbon Dark Mode by iOS developer OxideLabs is one such release, and according to the developer, it’s up to 3.5 times more memory efficient than ‘other’ dark mode jailbreak tweaks on the market today.

Facebook’s Dark Mode is being tested

Earlier this year, Facebook rolled out a darkened user interface in Messenger while promising to eventually bring Dark Mode to its main app. Thankfully, computer science student Jane Manchun Wong has been able to unearth a screenshot showing off the upcoming feature.
