With such a high-profile launch of a new-category (fashionable) gadget on its hands, little wonder Apple is admittedly enlisting help of the world's top fashion editors, celebrities and athletes in an unprecedented attempt to position the gizmo in the public's consciousness.

The latest in celebrity Watch signings came via British professional rugby player and captain turned cyclist, Will Carling.

Earlier today, Carling on Twitter showed off his stainless steel Apple Watch sporting what appears to be a bespoke red Sport band.

Apple shows off Watch at Milan’s Salone Del Mobile Design Fair, with executives on hand

Apple is showing off the Apple Watch at the Salone Del Mobile Design fair in Milan, Italy, with SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, and industrial designer, Marc Newson, both on hand at the event.

The device is displayed in rows of glass-topped tables inside the Carlo e Camilla restaurant in Segheria. In addition to using literally the same tables found in its own retail stores, Apple's replicated the U.S. Apple Store try-on experience at the fair.

This despite the device not yet being available for pre-order in Italy. Thankfully, Italian blog Macitynet.it and French site iGen.fr have provided several photographs of Schiller and Newson showing off their device and posing for photographs.

The company's freemium Twitter client for the iPhone and iPad was refreshed on the App Store with all-new Apple Watch functionality in the form of Glances, Notifications and the recent activity view. Twitterrific's Glances put retweets, favorites and new followers you’ve received over the past 24 hours, in addition to the current unread tweet count, right on your wrist.

But don't you worry, you'll be able to fine-tune which Twitter notifications appear on your Watch so you don't get inundated with unwanted alerts. Interestingly enough, The Iconfactory has opted for an unusual route of by requiring you to upgrade to Twitterrific's push notifications via a one-time $1.99 In-App Purchase in order to unlock the full Apple Watch functionality.

Select Apple Stores now offering Watch workshops

In a bid to get new Watch customers up to speed and help them learn how to use their Apple wearable device, select brick-and-mortar stores are now offering a brand new workshop called 'Apple Watch Basics,' MacRumors discovered earlier today.

The program can be booked now and is showing up as a Concierge option on Apple's website, with first in-store workshops slated to begin on April 24. According to Apple's website, select stores both in the United States and in other countries are offering workshops as of today, including locations like Xidan Joy City in China.

Apple said to adopt Apple Watch Sport’s strong 7000 Series aluminum for next iPhone

Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported Thursday that Apple will adopt 7000 Series aluminum for the next iPhone, a custom alloy the company developed for the Apple Watch Sport.

The iPhone maker says that the 7000 Series aluminum used to make the entry-level Watch is sixty percent stronger than standard alloys but just as light, meaning the chassis of the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus could be significantly more durable than that of the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models.

IFTTT’s ‘Do’ apps now available on Apple Watch

A trio of dedicated task-automation apps for the iPhone released on the App Store back in February by the IFTTT (If This Than That) service are available on the Apple Watch as of today.

The refreshed Do Button, Do Note and Do Camera apps now feature compatibility with the Apple wearable, empowering users with the ability to assign complex actions to the virtual button on the Watch's tiny screen, including actions that tie into third-party services that have not yet rolled out first-party support for the Apple Watch.

In addition to Apple Watch support, these apps have also gained native iPad interface in today's update while adding the following new channels: Scout Alarm, ecobee, iSmart Alarm, Zubie, Mojio, Moni.ai, Nimbus Note, Harvest, WallyHome, HomeSeer, ThermoStat and Wireless Tag.

Internal memo confirms Apple Watch unlikely to be available for in-store purchases before June

Glide for iPhone has been updated on the App Store today with Apple Watch support, becoming the first app to bring one-way real-time video messaging to the wrist-worn gizmo. The app lets you see a preview of video messages up to five minutes long on your wrist and respond straight from your Apple Watch.

Other features include getting quick updates to the Watch when friends send you videos, texts or photos without needing to take out your iPhone, accessing all chats and missed events and more.
