The difference between an Apple TV and an Apple Television

All the talk these days – at least before all the iPad 3 rumors took over – has been about the much anticipated Apple Television. Apple has certainly not announced anything, and some of us still are not convinced that Apple needs to enter a crowded market, but those rumors just keep on coming.

I'm one of those that just doesn't see why Apple needs to bring a television to market, especially considering there are already hundreds of TV manufacturers in the space that are all scrambling for market share. If Apple is to make an impact, then it needs to offer something that nobody else can. Something that differentiates.

The Apple TV that we currently know and love is a sign that Apple doesn't yet take the home entertainment business seriously. Famously called a "hobby," the Apple TV is a box that is full of potential yet seems almost held back. Almost neutered...

MyAssistant updated with new features, assorted bug fixes

QuickSiri allows you to outright bypass Siri opening in the small 1/4 window mode in favor of full screen mode. The developer of the tweak claims that this can make Siri more responsive on older devices.

Apparently Siri can’t speak Japanese anymore

Remember last week when Siri said she could speak Japanese although she didn't support the language yet? This was a sure sign of things to come, namely support for Japanese language in the upcoming iOS 5.1 firmware.

Well, it seems that Apple made some adjustments on the servers that power Siri's responses. If you ask her today what languages she can speak, she will tell you she can only speak German, French, and English. No Japanese anymore...

You can use Siri Dictation to outright bypass the 30 character limitation for a seemingly infinitely long task entry. Obviously this trick isn't amongst the most practical tricks in the book, but it's cool because, well, it can be done.

Indeed, SiriLovesLyrics is a jailbreak tweaks for Siri that involves music. It allows you to query Siri for the lyrics of the currently playing song in your Music app, and outputs them in a clean interface so that you can sing along to your favorite songs.
