iPhone iOS 4.2 to Be Released on November 24?

iOS 4.2 is like the white iPhone 4. There are rumors about it, it's supposed to come out any time, but for some reason, it's never released. The rumors have gone wild lately about when iOS 4.2 will be released, and I haven't reported much of it here at iDB because to be honest with you, I think all these rumors were full of crap.

This being said, the new rumor coming from the Telegraph might be as reliable as a 1991 Ford Tempo, but I'd like to give it a chance and see what you guys think about it. According to the UK newspaper, iOS 4.2 will be released on November 27...

If you have ever tried to play a two-player multi-touch game on your iPhone, then you know how tricky it can be. Enter the coolest iPhone peripheral to date: Table.Connect for iPhone. While still in development, this brilliant idea proposes a beautifully designed table that connects directly to the iPhone via the dock connector. Apple Reportedly Hosting a Secret iOS Developer Conference This Week

Apple is rumored to be hosting a top secret iOS developer conference in California this week. The event is supposed to start on Tuesday and run through Thursday.

Could this meeting of the minds be Apple's attempt to counteract the rise of Google's Android platform in the smartphone market? There's plenty to speculate about...

Apple Looking Into Dumping iPhone Carriers?

Speaking of a close environment... There is an interesting article on GigaOM today which suggests that Apple might be about to cut out the carriers.

Apparently Apple is working with SIM manufacturer Gemalto to create a unique SIM card that would be integrated inside the phone and that would allow people to buy the iPhone directly from Apple and choose a carrier via the App Store...

White iPhone 4 Cancelled?

When you think the drama is almost over, some good ol' rumors show up, throwing yet a little more oil on the fire. According to BGR and their insider ninjas, Apple has absolutely no plan of ever releasing the white iPhone 4.

The plan is actually to delay the White iPhone 4 again in the Spring, which would inevitably lead us to an iPhone 5 release...

Latest Apple Store App Update Features Illusive White iPhone 4

Could this be a sign of the impending release of the white iPhone 4?  In the latest update to Apple's Store App for the iPhone, which features new concierge integration among other things, the white iPhone 4 is indeed available for reservation.

Whether or not this means that the issues surrounding the product's production have been completely ironed out, and a release is right around the corner, is of course anyone's guess. You have to admit, though, it's certainly an encouraging sign for those who are still holding out...

Is AT&T Preparing to Lose iPhone Exclusivity?

With the rumors flying again that Verizon might be getting a CDMA iPhone sometime next year, it looks like AT&T might be getting ready for life after iPhone exclusivity. Bloomberg notes that AT&T has been ramping up new smartphones on their network.

Lately they have added several new Windows 7 and Android phones to their mix of units. AT&T has said numerous times that they are not worried about losing the iPhone exclusivity due to the increase in popularity with Android and interest in Windows 7 Mobile.

Is This the Verizon iPhone 4?

A blog by the name of Richy Rich has posted what they claim to be spy-photo's of the upcoming CDMA Version of the iPhone 4, which is reportedly heading to Verizon in the near future. The device in the shots are said to be running a test operating system, which is a lot like what we saw from the GSM version of the iPhone 4, when photos of it inevitably leaked online earlier this year.

The blog also reports that the new CDMA iPhone 4 will retain its GSM micro-sim slot, which would indicate that the device could become a genuine "world phone" were it to be unlocked.  A few already existing phones on Verizon's network, most notably those in the Blackberry line, already offer dual CDMA and GSM connectivity...

Next iPhone in Final Field Testing Stage, CDMA on the Way

Boy Genius Report has reported (from an inside source at Apple) that the new CDMA iPhone has reached final testing stages. There is no confirmation that this iPhone is specifically intended for Verizon, but CDMA compatibility is almost a given. The above image is of the rumored device, which BGR says may contain a SIM card slot...

About two months ago, John Gruber broke the story that the CDMA iPhone was in "Engineering Verification Testing" (EVT) status. One month ago, Apple Insider reported that Apple is apparently planning on building 3 million CDMA iPhones by December.

Here's the newest story from the CDMA iPhone rumor mill:

LimeSn0w Unlock by Geohot on its Way?

Just days after releasing his LimeRa1n jailbreak, is Geohot going to amaze us all over again with LimeSn0w, the first iPhone unlock for iOS 4.1? That's at least what this image I received from an anonymous tipster suggests. It shows what seems to be an iPhone 3GS on T-Mobile with information about LimeSn0w being an unlock for basebands 02.10.04 and 05.15.01.

While we thought there wouldn't be an unlock until iOS 4.2 comes out, this LimeSn0w rumor comes as a very good news, especially for those of you who accidentally updated to iOS 4.1 and cannot downgrade the baseband.

WSJ Says Apple is Working on a Verizon iPhone [We’ve Heard That Before]

The WSJ has a scoop today citing a person "briefed by Apple" who says the company will start manufacturing a new CDMA iPhone by the end of the year that would allow Verizon to sell the device beginning of 2011.

Of course, we've heard that before. Many times. Many, many, many times! So what makes this rumor different this time? Certainly not the source of the rumor, who let me remind you, is a person "briefed by Apple"...
