Languinis review: a mash up of match-three and word games

I love playing word games, like Scrabble or Words with Friends. I also have a soft spot in my heart for the simplicity of mindless match-three games. So, it is only logical that I’d be drawn to a game that combines them both.

Languinis is a match-three word game that is both charming and entertaining. It appeals to puzzle gamers in two different genres. We’ve got a full game review of Languinis for you today.

Review: tmbr wallet case for iPhone 6 Plus

Yesterday, the folks at tmbr sent over a couple of iPhone 6 Plus cases for my inspection. To be honest, I've never been a big fan of reviewing cases unless they do something particularly well. In fact, I've received tons of cases over the years, but I can count on one hand how many I've actually taken the time to review.

In other words, if you see me reviewing a case, then it must be pretty special. I wasn't exactly sure if I'd even bother reviewing the tmbr case, but after testing it out for just five minutes, I just knew I had to share the experience with you.

Reminders Nano is the app Apple should have shipped with Apple Watch

Several first-party apps are noticeably missing from Apple Watch, with Reminders and Podcasts being probably the most obvious. I'm confident Apple will bring these apps to Apple Watch sooner than later, but we're left dealing with workarounds and third-party apps to fill our needs for the time being.

Reminders Nano is one of these apps that picks up where Apple left off. Bringing a comprehensive yet simple reminders app to Apple Watch, Reminders Nano looks like something Apple itself would have shipped.

Review: HazeOver dims background apps on Mac to reduce distraction

There never seems to be a shortage of apps that promote focusing on a single task, especially writing apps. And then you have hardware like the iPad, which forces you to focus on a single app at a time.

With the Mac, focusing has never been that easy, because multitasking is at its core.

HazeOver is a new Mac App Store utility that seeks to change the way we work on the Mac. By dimming background apps, it aims to help users focus on one app at a time by reducing distractions from surrounding apps. You can still have other apps open, they’ll just be dimmed in such a way that they’re less noticeable.

Does the idea work? Check out our video walkthrough for all of the details.

Armadillo Gold Rush review: roll your way through a labyrinth of danger

Back in early the 2000s, Armadillo Gold Rush was a big hit on feature phones. It was fairly well made for its time and ended up being a fan favorite. The game has been updated for the smartphone market and is now available on iOS with all of its original charm, but with better graphics and smoother gameplay. We’ve got a game review of Armadillo Gold Rush on iOS for you today.

Review: Magnet window manager for OS X

The ability to snap windows side-by-side has been one of my most missed features since switching from Microsoft Windows years ago. Fortunately, there have been quite a few apps over the years that have provided window snapping on the Mac.

One such app, HyperDock, has been my go-to app of sorts for managing windows on OS X. Another app, BetterSnapTool, is also popular among Mac users for window management.

But today, Sebastien made me aware of yet another window management tool. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first, because I've I didn't see how anything could be much better than HyperDoc for my needs, but I stand corrected.

Magnet ($1.99) is a really good Mac App Store release that focuses solely on window management, and does a very good job. It has several key features that have made me seriously contemplate switching over to it full time. Watch our video review to see what I mean.

Spigen Apple Watch Stand: an elegant and affordable charging solution

Spigen has been on the forefront of Apple Watch accessories since the device was first available a little over a month ago. The company rapidly came up with a line of cases for Apple Watch, and they also made a stand that represents an affordable yet elegant solution for your desk or night stand.

In a brief review of the Spigen Apple Watch Stand, I'll share with you what I like and don't like about this simple accessory.

Review: HTC One M9 from an iPhone user’s perspective

The HTC One M9 is the latest flagship phone from HTC and it doesn't divert from what has made the HTC One line stand out among other releases from Android OEMs. If the all metal Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge didn't exist, then the HTC One would stand head and shoulders above the rest of the Android competition from a design standpoint. But even with Samsung's recent change in design taste, the HTC One M9 is one of the, if not the best looking Android smartphone that money can buy.

As a full time iPhone user, I feel like I have a unique perspective to lend to those of you who may be interested in the M9, or those of you who just want to know how other flagship phones are doing outside of the Apple ecosystem. In this post, I'll discuss 5 features that I love about the HTC One M9, and 5 features that aren't so hot. Be sure to tune in to our full video review as well.

Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night review – a sequel that beats its predecessor

About a year-and-a-half ago, I reviewed the iOS version of the 1987 board game classic Chainsaw Warrior. I love board games and this digital version proved to be entertaining and fun.

Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night is the digital-only sequel to the zombie killing card game and it has improved significantly from its predecessor. We’ve got a game review of Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night for you today.

Review: Asus ZenFone 2 from an iPhone user’s perspective

Today, I picked up the ZenFone 2 from Asus. It's a mid-tier Android phone with flagship specifications.

This phone is actually quite good from a pure specs perspective. It features 4GB of RAM, and it's one of the first phones to do so. It also packs in a 64-bit quad-core 2.3 Ghz Intel Atom processor, and 64GB of flash storage, expandable up to 128GB.

The screen is 5.5 inches, and it's roughly the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus, though a bit thicker. Needless to say, this ZenFone is firmly in the realm of the "phablet" and although it's selling at mid-tier prices at $299, it's got some decent specs.

In this review, which won't be your typical review where I spout off statistics and benchmarks, I look at 5 things that this phone does right, and 5 things that it does wrong—all fed through my iPhone-tinted glasses.

Tower Slash review: fast fingers score big in this fast-paced swiping game

When I think of games that require impeccable timing and impossibly fast reflexes, I think of Flappy Bird. That game was once a hugely popular title, which generated many, many addicted players.

Tower Slash almost fits into that category. Except, it is slightly easier to score high and provides unlockable new characters when you reach certain goals. We've got a full game review of Tower Slash for you right now.
