Mega Dead Pixel plummets into the App Store

What could be better than combining two awesome things into one? Add peanut butter to chocolate and get peanut butter cups. Add Tapatio to pizza and get a spicy slice. Add pixels to endless fallers and get an adorably intense action game.

‘Asphalt 8: Airborne’ goes free as Apple’s App of the Week

Great news gamers! Apple has just named Gameloft's recently-released ‘Asphalt 8: Airborne’ game the App of the Week. This means that for the next 7 days, you'll be able to grab the popular racer for your iPhone or iPad, for free.

Real Steel: World Robot Boxing hits iOS

Time to fight some larger-than-life robots! I'm not sure why exactly Real Steel hasn't done so well at the box office, but I've had a great time watching the movie (twice) and thought Huge Jackman fit the role perfectly. If you haven't seen it, Real Steel is based on the 1956 short story Steel by Richard Matheson and follows former boxed Charlie Kenton who owns the aging robot Ambush.

It's year 2020 and human boxers have been replaced by robots so cash-strapped Kenton makes a living by sending Ambush to fight other robots in tournaments across the country. The animatronics, stunts, special effects and acting are all very smooth.

DreamWorks, whose movie-making arm released the movie, has released a new tie-in, Real Steel: World Robot Boxing, for the iPhone and iPad as a free to play download on worldwide App Stores (the game previously soft-launched on the New Zealand App Store only)...

Batman: Arkham Origins now available for iPhone and iPad as free to play download

The Batman Arkham series made its way to the iOS platform with the release of Batman Arkham City Lockdown in December 2011. For those who haven't played the game, you basically were challenged to battle against Arkham City’s most dangerous villains. With the console version of Batman: Arkham Origins now just around the corner, Warner Bros. Entertainment figured it should drum up the excitement by pushing a mobile version ahead of the October 25 console edition launch.

This free to play mobile game looks great and is available now worldwide on the App Store so do give it a whirl, especially if you're into action games and the Batman series...

Electronic Arts posted a significant update for its popular Real Racing 3 title today, bringing the game to version 1.4. The update includes a number of additions, including new cars, a new track and new HUD customization options.

The new cars come from the Ferrari family, meaning you can now get behind the wheel of the FF, the 458 Italia, and the V12-powered F12berlinetta. And the new track is Spain’s Circuit de Catalunya, famous for its sweeping turns...

Valve shows off Steam Controller with popular Mac games

Valve caused quite a stir claiming its upcoming Steam Controller was designed to work without a hiccup with all the games on Steam, including the older titles in the catalog and the ones that were not built with controller support in mind. To prove its point, the company has released a nice video demonstrating Steam Controller with a number of popular Mac games sold on Steam, such as Portal, Counterstrike and Team Fortress. Give it a watch right after the break...

Final Fantasy VII iOS release could be ‘years away,’ says Square Enix

Square Enix director Takashi Tokita recently confirmed to the gaming blog Kotaku that Final Fantasy VI will be hitting iOS and Android this winter.

Though the exec dropped hints about Final Fantasy VII being considered for mobile, he was quick to stress that no definite decision has been reached yet.

It seems now that a mobile Final Fantasy VII edition may be "years away" due to space limitations. I have the full story right after the break...

Angry Birds Go! arriving December 11, here’s new gameplay video

Angry Birds maker back in June teased its upcoming Angry Birds-themed kart racing game. Named Angry Birds Go, the game will be set on a 3D Piggy Island and include tons of characters with unique special powers and a fully rendered 3D world.

Then in August, the Finnish developer released more information, revealing the title will be a tie in with energy drinks maker Red Bull.

On Tuesday, Rovio gave us a release date and published a gameplay video which shows off game mechanics while revealing a bunch of bird and pig characters from the Angry Birds series. I've included the video and a few additional tidbits right after the break...

KAMI, a beautifully relaxing puzzle game for iOS

We’ve recently spotlighted quite a few puzzle games that look great and feature interesting and challenging puzzles. With iOS 7, many developers have focused on offering apps that are flat and minimalistic in nature.

KAMI is a puzzle game that is the exact opposite of flat. It is not skeumorphic. It actually uses real paper as part of the game’s design. You’ll feel like you are really touching paper as your puzzle unfolds in stop motion…

Flipcase: your iPhone 5c case becomes part of the game

To say that Flipcase, a new iPhone game by Dave McKinney and Stuart Hall, is interesting would be understating its cleverness, originality and inventiveness.

This ingenious take on Hasbro's classic four-in-a-row invites you to use Apple's iPhone 5c case with its circular holes on the back as a grid, which makes it fun and more three-dimensional.

Simply attach your case to the device's front and tap through the holes in the case to play. Whoever connects four holes of the same colors wins. How cool is that? Very cool! Jump past the fold for more awesomeness...

Google to bring its augmented-reality game ‘Ingress’ to iOS next year

Google has begun work on an iOS version of its mobile augmented-reality game Ingress, according to a new report from AllThingsD. The game launched into closed beta last year, and has so far seen about one million Android activations.

If you've never heard of the title, it's essentially a 'social game' set around a live story that Google updates every week with new clues. Players score points by collaborating with strangers to find clues and claim local landmarks for their team...
