Broken Age, Tim Schafer’s first graphic adventure in 16 years, lands on iPad

Graphic adventures used to be all the rage until talented programmer and game designer John Carmack and his id Software came along and spoiled us with the Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake series of first-person 3D shooters.

Compelling adventures that challenge your gray matter are few and far between in the App Store so fans of the genre will have a lot to love about Broken Age.

Created by Tim Schafer's Double Fine Productions and available for $9.99, it's a full-blown graphic adventure in which you can freely switch between a pair of teenagers who find themselves in familiar situations, although set in different worlds...

Worms creator Team17 releases cute iOS game, (R)evolve

A British games development studio, Team17, has made a name for itself in the golden age of home computing back in the 1990s with its Worms series of amusing artillery strategy games.

Today, they have released a brand new iOS game that I think deserves your attention. Called (R)evolve, it was prototyped in just 48 hours at 2014’s Great British Game Jam and came in first place.

The free-to-play title challenges you to save cutesy alien creatures from meteor showers by spinning their planet. I know, it sounds simplistic, but aren't all addictive games supposed to be simplified to the bone?

Rovio’s new ‘Angry Birds Epic’ game launches worldwide

In February, Rovio teased a new game for its Angry Birds franchise called Angry Birds Epic. A month later it soft-launched the title in a handful countries, and players quickly discovered that this isn't your typical bird-slinger.

Believe it or not, it's actually an adventure role-playing game with turn-based combat and an extensive crafting system. It features epic battles, epic worlds, and it's now available around the globe on both the iPhone and iPad...

Square Enix debuts Final Fantasy Agito announce trailer ahead of North American launch

Final Fantasy Agito, a new role-playing game (RPG) featuring lush 3D graphics and created specifically for smartphones and tablets, launched in Japan last month.

Ever since its Japanese debut, we've been hearing whispers about a possible USA debut. As it turns out, localizing all that content took longer than expected.

The good news is, work on the Western edition is now nearing completion. Today, Square Enix has indicated that the USA edition has inched closer to release by posting the official announcement trailer.

I've included the video along with latest tidbits right after the jump...

Sega launching Sonic Jump follow-up soon

If you enjoyed Sega's Sonic Jump on your iPhone and iPad, you'll want to put the official sequel called Sonic Jump Fever on your wish list. Arriving a year and a half after the original Sonic Jump remake (Sega's first iOS exclusive), the follow-up is due for release this summer.

The fast-paced, leaderboard-focused vertical jumping platformer will have you compete against friends for high scores, with a little help from boosters like Fever Mode (hence the name) that pushes your character into hyper-speed for some "earth-shattering scores"...

Sony unveils Apple TV competitor ‘PlayStation TV’

During its high profile E3 keynote yesterday, Sony unveiled the PlayStation TV, a rebranded version of the PS Vita TV it showed off last fall. The device is small enough to fit in your hand and costs just $99, making it a direct competitor to the Apple TV.

Like the Apple TV, the PlayStation TV will support a variety of streaming services including Hulu, Netflix, and of course Sony's own content. But unlike Apple's set-top box, it'll have a heavy focus on gaming, supporting some 1000 popular titles at launch...

SteelSeries announces large-format Stratus XL iOS gaming controller

Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this January, the Stratus wireless iOS gaming controller by SteelSeries has joined the likes of Logitech's PowerShell, Moga's AcePower, Razer's Kazuyo/Junglecat and C.T.R.L.i by Mad Catz, to name a few.

Monday, the firm announced a larger-format version of the Stratus, the Stratus XL. The console-style gaming controller works with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices and comes with a pressure-sensitive D-pad, dual-analog sticks, a set of four action buttons and four shoulder buttons (two pressure-sensitive top shoulder buttons and two analog trigger bottom shoulder buttons)...

Upcoming Dance Party game promises multiplayer fun on Apple TV

I've long thought that the Apple TV could make for a full-blown video game console. Between the set-top box, AirPlay, and Apple's line of iOS devices with built-in motion sensors, you basically have a Nintendo Wii—you just need developers to take advantage of it.

And nobody understands this better than the folks at Rolocule Games. The India-based app-maker released a game called 'Motion Tennis' last summer, and this year they're back with another innovative, motion-based game for iOS and Apple TV called Dance Party...

Har.mo.ny sequel is more of the same, but better

Last October, we reviewed BoarderLeap’s relaxing minimalist puzzle game Har.mo.ny. The attractive, flat design and tranquil soundtrack makes it the perfect game for fans of simple action, complex puzzle challenges. The more you play, the more hooked you get.

Har.mo.ny 2 recently launched in the App Store and I can definitely say it is more of the same, but better. Instead of only one game mode, there are now seven. There are dozens of pleasing color palates, hundreds of levels, and new soundscapes to give you an enjoyable brain exercise at any time...

After going nearly a year after its initial announcement without talking about the title, Gameloft is finally starting to open up about Modern Combat 5: Blackout. We've learned a number of new details about the game over the past couple of weeks, and today we have an epic new E3 trailer to share...

IGN names ‘Deus Ex: The Fall’ its Free Game of the Month

Great news gamers, IGN has named Square Enix's popular 'Deus Ex: The Fall' its Free Game of the Month for June. The game launched on iPhones and iPads last summer to many positive reviews, and it normally retails for $6.99.

For those unfamiliar with the title, Deus Ex: The Fall is an action-based role playing game, set in the cyberpunk world of 2027. It's well known for its console-quality graphics, advanced gameplay elements, and in-depth storyline...
