With Lettercraft, developer Marco Torretta has created a game built to conquer the mobile market. It’s a word game, one of the App Store’s most popular categories. It’s short, with each session taking just about two minutes. It’s even straightforward and easy to learn. The real success of Lettercraft, however, is its surprising depth and creative mechanics.

Dreamy sleepwalker adventure Back to Bed named Apple’s new Free App of the Week
Back to Bed by Bedtime Digital Games has been named the App Store's new Free App of the Week in Apple's ongoing weekly promotion. This awesomely done three-dimensional indie puzzler has never gone free since its August 2014 debut on the App Store and normally retails for $3.99 a pop.
Do yourself a favor and grab the game right now before you forget about it and the price goes back up next Thursday. This one's unlike many other freebies on the App Store, in that it does not contain advertising nor In-App Purchases to spoil the fun.

The Trace: Murder Mystery Game puts you in the detective’s seat
If you’ve got some free time to spend with your face (and hands) absorbed in a good murder mystery, then The Trace: Murder Mystery Game will give you a healthy dose of too-many-hours-on-one-game. The point-and-click puzzle adventure will send you on the trail of a murder suspect that twists and turns with every new clue discovered.
Players take on the role of a detective investigating what appears to be a suicide. After discovering a few interesting clues, you embark on a quest to find a killer before he strikes again.
EA debuts ‘Get To Work’ expansion for The Sims 4 featuring three career paths and more
Publisher Electronic Arts on Tuesday launched the first major expansion pack for its popular life simulation game for Mac and Windows PCs, The Sims 4. “It's time to take your career to the next level,” says EA, revealing that the add-on is all about different career paths your Sims can take.
In addition, entrepreneurial types can now build and manage their own retail stores and earn money by selling all sorts of items. You can set prices yourself, hire and manage employees, customize uniforms and work to make the final sale.
EA says there's no limit to the type of retail business that can be created, from clothing boutiques to art galleries, or bakeries to bookstores.
TouchTone review: this is what crowdsourced NSA research might look like
In this digital age, we are faced with issues about privacy and security. In no point in the history of the United States has more of our personal information been publically available than in the 21st century. What if the NSA sought out the help of everyday citizens to keep watch over each other?
TouchTone is a complex puzzle game with an underlying story that hits on such possibilities. How would our private lives look to an outsider? Would things we consider to be innocent look nefarious to our neighbor? We’ve got a hands-on game review of Touch Tone for you.
Cards and Castles: shuffle up and fight
Cards and Castles mixes two of my favorite things together: turn-based strategy and card battles. It also throws in one of my least favorite terms: free-to-play. Has Bit Mass created a game that perfectly blends these characteristics? Read on, dear adventurer, and let’s find out together.
Strategy and timing meet in action puzzler ULTRAFLOW
ULTRAFLOW draws heavily from both the puzzle and action genres. Each level is essentially a two stage process. First, you have to figure out how to solve the puzzle. Then, you have to actually be able to do it. This creates a surprising amount of challenge in ULTRAFLOW, proving that it’s more than just a fun word to type.
Four Letters review: a surprisingly challenging word game
How many four letter words can you think of? No, this isn’t some crass joke. It’s the concept of Prodigy Design’s new word game, Four Letters. Four Letters assigns players the deceptively simple task of rearranging four random characters into a word. It may seem easy at first, but coming up with all 2,465 possible combinations may present a bit of a challenge.
2K’s best iOS games are on sale, starting with BioShock at $3 and more
Publisher 2K Games is having a killer Spring Sale deal on its premium 2014 releases in the App Store, reports TouchArcade. Avid gamers can now grab triple-As at a sharp discount, for a limited time. iPhone and iPad titles like BioShock, NBA 2K15, NHL 2K and others are now available starting at just three bucks each.
BioShock for iOS, for example, can be now yours in exchange for $2.99, down sharply from its usual asking price of $10.99. This is actually the first time BioShock has been discounted below five bucks since its release on the App Store.
Google to take on Twitch with own game streaming video service
Google is going to announce a new YouTube-branded live video streaming service with an emphasis on gaming, according to the British newspaper The Guardian on Wednesday citing a scoop by tech blog The Daily Dot.
The Internet giant is reportedly prepping to introduce its live-streaming service under the YouTube Live moniker. YouTube Live will apparently relaunch later this year, re-focused on game streaming and e-sports.
Such turn of events wasn't entirely unexpected. A year ago, Google wanted to buy Twitch but has failed to seal the deal and got outbid by Amazon, which paid a cool $1 billion for the popular game-streaming service.
rop: will this unforgiving puzzle game rope you in?
There is no shortage of puzzle games available on the App Store, and it is becoming harder and harder for them to distinguish themselves from the pack. MildMania’s rop seeks to do so with a stark design philosophy and some of the most difficult and satisfying puzzles I have seen on an Apple device. This game isn’t an instant recommendation though, as those silky smooth puzzles come with some very rough edges.
