There's a possibility that today's California Streaming event is, well, very streamlined. We know we'll see the iPhone 13 lineup debut later today, and the Apple Watch Series 7 is a safe bet as well. What's up in the air, though, is whether or not we'll see any new iPad models showcased today, or if we'll see the third-generation AirPods for that matter.

Back in February of last year, Apple officially announced it had secured the streaming rights to a futuristic drama starring Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) and directed by Benjamin Cleary (Stutterer). It was described as a "genre-bending drama" at the time, but, unfortunately, there wasn't much else to go on. Certainly not a release date. But that's changing today.

Shazam passes 1 billion recognitions from iPhone’s Control Center
As of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2, you've been able to access music recognition through the Control Center overlay. Apple has announced that customers have used this Shazam-powered feature more than a billion times since those software updates dropped in November 2020.

Today, Apple has released iOS 14.8, iPadOS 14.8, watchOS 7.6.2, and macOS 11.6 Big Sur to the public. While the version number would suggest something big, that's not really going to be the case. This is meant to be the final version of iOS 14 released to the public, so it's not necessarily meant to add any major new features to the mix.
