This app lets you type notes with a keypad on your Apple Watch

Yesterday, I reviewed a cool little Apple Watch app for creating notes on the fly with dictation which can then be shown as a complication on your watch.

In continuing with the same theme, today I take a look at Note Tapper by Mark Cotterill, which adds an interesting twist to taking notes on the Apple Watch—rather than rely on (at times unreliable) dictation feature, you can type out your thoughts using a rather effective built-in keyboard.

Dictate notes on the fly and display them on your watch face with WatchNotes

Yesterday, developer Michael Bischoff refreshed its nicely done iPhone application, WatchNotes, with the ability to create, schedule and display notes right on your watch face through a brand new Apple Watch app and a complication.

WatchNotes, which originally made its App Store debut in December 2015 as an iPhone-only app, also lets you dictate a new note directly into your Apple Watch, set up scheduling and travel through time using watchOS's Time Travel feature to look at notes that you've scheduled in the future.

If you've ever wanted to add a note to your Apple Watch face on the fly, you're wholeheartedly recommend to take WatchNotes for a spin, more so considering that watchOS currently lacks a stock Notes app.

Apple Watch 2 said to enter mass production in second quarter

Following a TechCrunch report which alleged that we might not see a second-generation Apple Watch released in March, as previously rumored, Taiwan-based DigiTimes reported Tuesday that the device is scheduled to enter mass production in the second quarter of 2016.

In addition, sources told the publication that Apple Watch 2 volumes will not be high as Apple's reduced the original device's shipment forecast for 2016 down further from its estimate in the fourth quarter of 2015 amid weaker than expected shipments.

Apple Watch to gain new bands in March, new hardware in September

Apple is planning to announce new Apple Watch models in March, reports 9to5Mac. But the refresh will be in line with what we saw in September of last year, in that we may see new bands made out of new materials, and new brand partnerships, but no new hardware.

Instead, the outlet claims Apple is going to wait until September to show off its second-generation Watch. This contradicts recent rumors that the new wearable is going to be ready for production this month, but it does lines up with this last week report from TechCrunch.

This Catalyst case protects your Apple Watch from water and debris for under $60

In August of last year, Catalyst unveiled the first (to my knowledge) fully waterproof case for the Apple Watch. Where other cases merely provide drop protection or, at most, water resistance, the Catalyst Case is fully IP-68 spec waterproof for up to 5 meters.

Given Catalyst’s reputation for making well-designed products, I jumped at the chance to give their Apple Watch case a try. I’ve been using it every day on my own sport model Watch for the past several weeks, and I’m finally prepared to share my thoughts.

Apple Watch Hermés Collection available for sale online this Friday

Beginning this Friday, acquiring an Apple Watch model from the Apple Watch Hermés Collection will no longer require a visit to a physical Apple Store. That's because you'll be able to order an Apple Watch Hermés directly from the comforts of your own home.

According to a report from fashion news outlet Fashionista, the Apple Watch Hermés, which actually includes three models—the Single tour, Double tour, and Cuff—will all be available for sale on both Hermés' and Apple's online store. That's big news, because previously, only a few physical Apple Stores in select big cities, along with Hermés boutiques, even carried models from the collection.

First impressions: Bulbae xylum Apple Watch Charging Stand

The xylum from Bulbae is an Apple Watch charging stand machined out of a single piece of aluminum. It's a strikingly good-looking stand that compliments both the aluminum Apple Watch Sport and the stainless steel Apple Watch.

The stand features a circular design with chamfered edges. To accommodate the magnetic inductive Apple Watch charger, a conduit runs along the inside of the stand with a large opening for housing the charging pad.

The xylum isn't without flaw, but it's one of the better looking Apple Watch stands that I've seen thus far. Have a look inside for more pictures and thoughts.

New report claims we may not see Apple Watch 2 in March

Don't get your hopes up for new Apple Watch hardware in March, reports TechCrunch. Citing several sources with knowledge of the company's plans, the outlet said on Friday that it believes the oft-rumored March unveiling is a bit too soon for Watch 2.0.

The scoop goes directly against a recent report that the second-gen Apple Watch is set to begin production later this month. It also contradicts a December report from the reliable 9to5Mac, which said that Apple had been planning a Watch event for March.

Apple working on magnetic Watch band that doubles as stand, protective case

Apple is working on a new magnetic band for its Apple Watch that could transform into a stand, or protective case. The project, first spotted by AppleInsider, was brought to light in a patent application published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday.

Aptly-named the "Magnetic Wristband," the invention calls for a Milanese-style band consisting of two straps made from malleable material. These straps feature a series of magnets embedded in various polarity patterns that allow them to interact in unusual, but useful ways.

Trial Apple Watch 2 production reportedly starting later this month

A new supply chain rumour from Taiwanese outlet Commercial Times claims that a second-generation Apple Watch is scheduled to hit Quanta’s conveyor belts in the coming weeks, ahead of a rumoured media event in March 2016.

Quanta is an Apple supplier that builds the current-generation Apple Watch so it's not surprising they have been commission to assemble the forthcoming model. However, the iPhone maker could rely on additional partners to build the second-generation device, including Foxconn, Inventec and Wistron, as per the report.

Why pair more than one Apple Watch to a single iPhone? Here’s why…

I've seen so many comments questioning the reason behind Apple allowing more than one Apple Watch to be paired with a single iPhone. Some people think it's silly to have more than one Apple Watch, while others genuinely seem to be confused by the decision.

Why would Apple allow you to have more than one Apple Watch paired at the same time? Let's consider the possible answers.
